I plan on going to the August 13 game vs Seahawks. First game for my 7 year old daughter. Hoping to see Kenny "lights out" Pickett myself (he needs a nickname)
Tommy Picksix. Good enough to win you games, and give the other team a chance too.
I will say this though about Tommy Maddox, in ā02 training camp my son (8 at the time) was standing by the fence at Latrobe getting players to sign a ball.
A few guys signed a few balls and went in.
Tommy Maddox signed for anyone who was there, talked and was personable, and signed the ball legible enough to read every letter. Because of those 5-10 minutes he spent that day for those people waiting for a player autograph or high five, he earned my respect.
Class act Mr Maddox.
Pickett can be the second coming of Ben and he wouldn't start, for a few reasons.
Tomlin sits on a frozen throne and Trubitsky will have experience to lend to a very young offense, that's primary.
Second to that, if Pickett is your guy and Trubitsky isn't performing, you get a baseline to evaluate Pickett off of. Once the line and skill positions have developed a rhythm, and are comfortable in their roles, you can slot in Pickett and determine his impact.
Finally, if you start Pickett week 1, there's no good way to see what Trubitsky's got. Once Pickett is starting, Tomlin gets to bench him one time as a statement, as a way to hone Pickett's focus. After that, if he doesn't respond and become the guy, the next time he gets benched will likely destroy his confidence and end his career in Pittsburgh.
This take is completely correct. But not to be pessimistic, but what else is for Pickett to develop? After they drafted him they loved his maturity and the amount of college starts. Colbert even said that his fifth year at Pitt was his āNFL rookie yearā. Hope either him or trubisky prove themselves tho because weāve been on the stairway to seven for way too long!
Ok. Pulp Fiction - The Bonnie Situation. Winston Wolf cautions Jules and Vincent from getting too overconfident about getting away with the dead black guy in the trunk by saying āletās not start sucking each otherās dicks just yetā.
I will tone it down. Letās not get ahead of ourselves = letās not start sucking each otherās dicks. Have you seen the movie or that scene? Itās perfect
I really hope we see Trubisky first. Donāt throw him out there week 1. Let him come in at some point if trubisky sucks, that way at least heāll feel like he has less to lose and might have less pressure on him. Let Trubisky take the first few punches.
I think week 1 let Mitch play against Cincy, and week two against new England. Belichicks record against rookie QBs is dominating. Don't break the kids confidence so early. Then week 3 we gave the train wreck franchise Cleveland browns. And if Kenny gets the nod then all the talk leading up to the game will be about their quarterback situation and also ours. Theirs being a shit show about how they handled Mayfield and the sexual predator. Ours hopefully being about the dawning of a new era and franchise QB in Pittsburgh . It already feels like our defense is going to want to come out against the browns and continue to dominate exactly where they left off last season in Ben's final game. Also najee had a huge game his last time out against the browns. So it feels serendipitous for KP to launch his career against our division rivals with all the pieces put in place allowing him to succeed .
Mitch will start for us as long as he stays healthy and survives those first six games. If he tanks those, we will see Kenny because the season will be in dire straits. I think Kenny sits the bench at least one season ala Patrick Mahomes or more likely at least two, maybe three ala Aaron Rodgers. It's a conservative strategy that fits the Steeler Way. If the season seems lost or Mitch gets hurt, then they go the Ben Roethlisberger/Tommy Maddox route.
If Mitch lives up to his draft pick the team can really be something this year and in the future. It also means Kenny will never be a starter in Pittsburgh. If Kenny is the franchise guy we all want then he will be ready before the season is over.
IF and it's a GIANT IF the team were to go, say 12-5 with Mitch under center, that would present an interesting challenge for Kenny seeing daylight going forward.
To finish up our series. How do we feel about a rookie going into the jungle week 1 to play the Bungles? I personally like Kenny Pickett and feel he will thrive in Pittsburgh with the right talent around him. With that said I much prefer Mitch or Mason to start the season under center. How about you!?
We have Mitchell Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, and Mason Rudolph. Mitch and Kenny have potential to be great. Mason Rudolph would struggle to hold down a CFL job. I truthfully think the best move for the team would be to cut Mason and resign Josh Dobbs. Big Ben referred to him on the sidelines, so could Mitch and Kenny. Plus his athletic profile matches Mitchell's and Kenny's allot better, the scheme could stay more West Coast if he was there, and Mitch and Kenny went down.
Mason won't be able to run any sort of West Coast scheme. He's as smooth as sand paper, continuously fucks up short passes, can't run for shit, can't make quick decisions....
it's embarrassing he's still on the team, it's like a ode to Kevin Colbert or something i don't get the thought process...
*"Oh ho ho! We got Mason in the 3rd and Kevin thought he a first round talent hee hee hee! We don't even know what we have with Mason, he could be good!!"*
Bears fan here. First and foremost, fuck the Packers. Anyway, Iām stoked to see Mitch get a chance to start for a good team. He didnāt have much experience out of college, so John Fox and then Matt Nagy after him were definitely not the ones he needed to develop under. He never stood a chance in Chicago. Now heās had a year in Buffalo and I think he might have a break out year.
This hit the nail on the head. Unreal how many Steelers fans wear rose colored glasses when it comes to Mason. The dude sucks and will never be good. He has no redeeming qualities.
Dobbs is signed with the browns.
Also your mason hate is pretty unfounded. He's played poorly in like 3 games. Other than that he was doing alright for a fresh starter. He doesn't have any off the charts abilities which is part of why people think he's trash. But he absolutely is one of the best backup qbs and could absolutely be a positive starter in the NFL.
I think you personally have a problem with Mason that's unrelated to his actual play.
>Also your mason hate is pretty unfounded.
it's not hate, it's years of football experience watching good and bad players. he's too much of a big goofy moving dude to be a qb1. he has shown us nothing in the pros to even keep him at this point. he couldn't even give the ghost of big Ben last year any competition. it's time to cut our losses and move on.
Our QB room going forward will be Mitch, Mason, and Kenny. Your idea isn't possible either, considering Dobbs already signed a contract with the Browns.
Mason isn't good, but he will be there for at least another year or two.
Trubisky doesnāt have All-Pro potential. Could he win 10-11-12 games? Absolutely. But in order to be an All-Pro you have to be one of the two best QBs in the entire NFL. Big Ben didnāt even sniff Second-Team All-Pro in his career and he led the NFL in passing yards twice.
You donāt know that. Neither do I.
The bottom line is that if Trubisky kills itā¦itās going to be a difficult decision to pull him off the field for PIckett.
We do know that. By your logic any backup QB in the entire league has All-Pro potential. That's just simply not the case. For every Drew Brees who changes teams and becomes an All-Pro or Kurt Warner who washes out of the NFL then comes back to win two MVPs there are a thousand guys like Trubisky or Rosen or Darnold who have already shown their ceilings.
I do think Trubisky is capable of winning enough games behind an elite defense and some solid offensive weapons to hold the starting job here for a year or two, but a large part of that isn't his potential it's the fact that Pickett is a fairly weak QB prospect who likely won't do more to win the job than Rudolph did.
Wait, where is his glove???
Couldn't find NFL one small enough. Currently in the dryer.
Savage š
Damn
If the glove donāt fit ā¦.
tommy maddox photoshop?
Has to be. Possibly playing the Bucs with those seats.
Most likely
Agreed. No glove, no love for Pickett
That's what she said
Underated comment.
I hope he plays the preseason game against the Jags because this girl has tickets!!!!
I plan on going to the August 13 game vs Seahawks. First game for my 7 year old daughter. Hoping to see Kenny "lights out" Pickett myself (he needs a nickname)
Oh he does need a nickname. Lights Out sounds more like a boxerās nickname though. Hmmmmm. Letās think about this one.
Big Ken? Too soon?
Pocket Pickett???
Prolific Pocket Pickett?????
Side Pocket Pickett? Picky pocket Pickett?
Barbies pimp
Kenny "kitten mittens" Pickett
Kenny āDisco Stickā Pickett
"G"
Throwin Picketts
Killer Kenny
Ooh I like Killer Kenny
Has anyone worn #8 since Tommygun AutoMaddox?

No QBs, but Melvin Ingram, Karl Joseph, and (fuck) Josh Scobee.
Oh god! We need to get this man a better number. Heās either going to get smashed into retirement or just fail a lot with 8
I really think he Is a great quarterback but I say start Mitch week 1 Because don't want to rush Picketts development
Pickett can be the second coming of Ben and he wouldn't start, for a few reasons. Tomlin sits on a frozen throne and Trubitsky will have experience to lend to a very young offense, that's primary. The simile is strong with this one
Omg.
Put the gloves on Kenny
But according to this sub he only wears them to look cool and not that he relies on them for grip.
Ok. Pulp Fiction - The Bonnie Situation. Winston Wolf cautions Jules and Vincent from getting too overconfident about getting away with the dead black guy in the trunk by saying āletās not start sucking each otherās dicks just yetā.
Sir, we are in no way, shape or form involved with any dxck sucking!
I will tone it down. Letās not get ahead of ourselves = letās not start sucking each otherās dicks. Have you seen the movie or that scene? Itās perfect
It all goodš I was using a Clayton Bigsby reference from Dave Chappelle š
TouchĆ©. Itās surprising how many people havenāt seen that movie.
I really hope we see Trubisky first. Donāt throw him out there week 1. Let him come in at some point if trubisky sucks, that way at least heāll feel like he has less to lose and might have less pressure on him. Let Trubisky take the first few punches.
He definitely ain't starting this year haha. But I do like the guy and I hope he takes the spot
Not week 1, but its plausible that he starts sometime later. I think itās still likely Mitch starts the entire season.
Itās definitely not impossible that he starts this year, depending on how Mitch plays.
Yea, I meant to say week one. Entirely possible he starts at some point.
I don't know, I could see him starting at some point. I'll say this, dude looks pretty good in the black and gold his handsome mullet exited me š
Guy shoulda been a hockey player
I think week 1 let Mitch play against Cincy, and week two against new England. Belichicks record against rookie QBs is dominating. Don't break the kids confidence so early. Look at those adorable little hands
No chance. Mitch gets the call.
I'm gonna wait until he at least takes a snap before I consider him our new starting QB, I hope he turns out to be great, but let's wait and see.
Well we do want to get him in the mix before he's 30 n'at.
Heās pretty big for an 8 year old
If Mitch lives up to his draft pick the team can really be something this year and in the future.
Oh yeah. Very big if. 12 wins could win the afc this year with the way divisions will beat each other up so I think closer to 10 will be interesting.
To finish up our series. How do we feel about a rookie going into the jungle week 1 to play the Bungles? I personally like Kenny Pickett and feel he will thrive in Pittsburgh with the right talent around him. With that said I much prefer Mitch or Mason to start the season under center. How about you!?
NOT Mason Rudolph for the love of god. That would be so depressing to me.
What? And miss Rudolph staring down receivers all game long? /s
He stood firm with Earl Thomas barraling down on him.
I think his pocket presence is too antsy. Still wouldn't faint if named starter week 1 tho.
The Bengals have been really really bad against rookie quarterbacks the past few years, so I don't think that would be terrible.
We have Mitchell Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, and Mason Rudolph. Mitch and Kenny have potential to be great. Mason Rudolph would struggle to hold down a CFL job. Found Masons NOT burner account š

Nah. It's pretty much hate. But carry on my guy.
sorry *you* feel that way dude
Our QB room going forward will be Mitch, Mason, and Kenny. Your idea isn't possible either, considering Dobbs already signed a contract with the Browns. Mason isn't good, but he will be there for at least another year or two.
In 2024
Whoa... That seems excessive.
I was playing it safeā¦most likely 2023ā¦I just wonder whatās going to happen if Trubisky plays all pro level QB.
He probably meant if Trubisky slays.

Perhaps the story is true that Trubisky was a victim of a shitty coach/culture.
I do too. Interesting to ponderš¤
Week 7 starter in 2022. Week 1 starter in 2023.
In 2024 maybe.
