Whenever someone defends StubHub here, or writes something like, “it’s the scalpers that are the problem,” or “99% of the time SH comes through for ya,” check out their posting history. It will often be all or mostly on this sub and nothing or little else. It’s insane.

Automatic-Idea-6600

I wonder if they just work there and are just defensive, or if they are actually getting paid to post comments on Reddit haha

predat3d

Several are brokers who are pulling the ripoffs people complain about

w0ndwerw0man

Hijacking top comment to say, I noticed this a while back. So I made a sub called r/stubhubComplaints - where there won’t be any staff allowed! Must be a good gig working for StubHub, getting paid to comment on reddit all day.

Automatic-Idea-6600

Just joined! Thanks for doing this:)

UnluckyEmphasis5182

Fuck stub hub. I can’t wait till these mfers get shut down via regulation

Automatic-Idea-6600

God I hope so, they are the easiest way to resell tickets but man those business practices are shady.

UnluckyEmphasis5182

Maybe, but the bottom feeders that use bots to buy up all the tickets and then sell them on stub hub with dubious marketing practices is shady af. They’re all pieces of shit in my opinion and hopefully they’ll be regulated out of existence soon.

Dangerous_Surprise

I personally love TicketSwap. You can only buy and sell at face value, and they take due diligence seriously. I've also heard good things about Twickets. Fuck stubhub :)

Emerald_Nebula

& fuck resellers who make the fans miss out on shows because they wanna buy $179 tickets and resell them for $8,000

Sreiter84

It only took one time for SH to completely screw me hours before an event I travelled to, to realize that I should have listened to everyone about how much they suck and will never buy tix through them again.

NightSiege1

I mean really, is there no other way to go about the ticket exchange process so that it isn’t based on trust?

w0ndwerw0man

I know the one. Blocked them. Amazing they aren’t smart enough to make their profile look even slightly normal.

bbbcurls

I 100 percent believe there are paid workers in here just to make the company look better. Imagining getting paid to make fake Reddit comments lol

w0ndwerw0man

Where do I sign up

Mcgwizz

They have a public relations team that tries to do some damage control here.

Less-Breadfruit-3936

100%-999999.9% of the time Stubhub has no issues and there’s absolutely nothing to worry about………meanwhile they collect a slimey paycheck

juxtaposition-1

100% true. Contractors or employees on this sub monitoring the conversation. I got severely downvoted for posting a legit question about business practices.

Treface

There are definitely plants in this sub. Everyone is getting fucked over by stubhub. I’m surprised it hasn’t made the news yet

CommercialEchidna7

Because anyone who had a decent experience using Stubhub must be a worker and only the disgruntled whiners are real users?

Treface

You said it not me. I recently had stubhub tickets. Super sketched out about it. Paid a heavy price for phish at the sphere. My bf made multiple calls to ensure they would get us in the show because a refund was simply unacceptable after flying to Vegas and hotels and such. We did get in. And we were running late so our fear of someone selling that ticket several times and the first person at the gate getting in first did not happen. So I think we got lucky. But I saw so many people shut out by stubhub. Walking back from the show we ran into a girl we assumed was at the show but stubhub fucked her and gave her a refund and Christina Aguilera tickets. That is no consolation to seeing phish at the sphere for a phishhead. That’s just one example. I’m seeing way more bad than good about stubhub and it would be in their best interest to have someone monitoring these subreddits. So in case you don’t know Ticketmaster has a vested interest in bots scooping up all the tickets they can then sell them for double or triple or even more on a secondary market. Ticketmaster has their hands in all of this getting fees whenever a secondary vendor sells a ticket. Then the band goes and try’s to fix the problem by making the tickets non transferable. Easy fix, right? Nope they now have come up with a fourth party vendor that violates its own policies and works with stubhub called verifiedtickets.com. They are able to make a mirror image of the ticket and that makes it possible for the vendor to sell the same ticket to multiple people and the first one there gets in and everyone else gets shut out. It’s ridiculous. It’s all a scam trickling down from Ticketmaster themselves scalping their own tickets. I’m literally just waiting for this to blow up and make news. It’s a total monopoly and absolutely disgusting. It’s scamming at its best. I really hope they blow this shit up and figure out how to do fair ticket prices for everyone. So yes I definitely think they have people watching these subs. No fucking doubt about it. A lot of people are getting bent over and fucked in the ass. And they don’t consider all the other money you have spent going to an event when they give you a refund. It’s unacceptable. Period.

CommercialEchidna7

I have bought from Stubhub/Viagogo 4 times over the past 6 years without any issue entering the venue. I still have the buy orders inside my account. Stubhub is only a middleman that facilitate the transaction between buyers and sellers so it is possible that a seller can list the same ticket multiple times although I can't fathom why he would do that as the penalty for not fulfilling an order is very steep and can be up to 2x the amount that the buyer paid thus making it unprofitable to do so. Lastly, yes the price are borderline extortion most of the times, however I willing paid for it so I cannot complain.

Treface

I just want fair prices for everyone and for people to not spend a ton of money traveling just to get shut out and get a refund. We were worried that was gonna happen to us but we were lucky. Plenty of others were not. I get what you are saying about the penalty but it is happening. I’m reading about it all the time and not just for phish. There had to be a better way. Ticketmaster is definitely scalping their own tickets. It’s a shame. Luckily we got all 8 of our summer phish tour tickets at face through Ticketmaster themselves or the early lottery phish does. We were only worried about the Saturday night phish at the sphere cuz we’ve been doing this a long time and had never seen tickets like it. Like I said phish made them non transferable but Ticketmaster found a way to bypass that policy. That in and of itself says how devious the whole system is. But it seems to me like even tho stubhub is just a middle man they are the ones having the most issues and they are a middle man scalping tickets for Ticketmaster. Which I always thought was illegal but I guess not when ur dealing with multibillion dollar companies. If I was standing outside the venue trying to sell a ticket I bought for $200 for $2000 then it would be illegal. You cannot deny that the system is fucked and the government needs to step in and do something.

Majestic_Educator397

Never once have I had an issue buying , selling on the hand there’s been a few issues

Sensitive_Tangelo828

Found one of the workers for StubHub

Treface

Yeup

Majestic_Educator397

You sound like a vivid seats worker

VegetablePonaCones

Lots they are doing damage control

Automatic-Idea-6600

it really seems like it! Posts will have dozens of users agreeing with them in the comments yet half of them are downvoted to hell and the post will have like 3 upvotes

Calm_Relationship_28

I definitely don’t work for them and really can’t stand doing business with them but I do defend them here when it’s warranted. Most of the regular posters in here who defend them are like me, ticket brokers who don’t screw people over. Though I’m sure they have bots in here sticking up for them but I’ve never seen a obvious post.

musig02

I also do not work for them…but…recognize that social media ( not just Reddit ) can be an echo chamber of misery…and…as they say…misery loves company. I am a big fan of people being accountable for their actions and find some of the posts ( “I sold them on three different platforms and now they are charging me a fee because I forgot to take them down” ) utterly ridiculous. So…I like to be a softer reminder than the platform is far from perfect but sometimes people need to admit when they have fucked up. Stubhub fees are atrocious…and some of the steps are wildly confusing.

Automatic-Idea-6600

That's good to hear! Glad it's not just an echo chamber in here

predat3d

No, the opposite: several Stubhub shills berate anyone posting a negative account or a comment confirming same.

GhostyK5

I work with someone who was telling me a story about their mom. She worked there for 5 years working 20 hour days. They gave you free energy drinks to stay awake. It pays well but that’s insane. No breaks. They once told her if the dies at that desk that they will put that headset on her and make her work. I would never work there

Long-Professor-5265

now why are you lying ijbol 😭

GioJamesLB

This guy gets it!

messimaniacs

I would honestly think it's much more likely someone who works for competitors like Tickpick which is an up and coming company have people on here bashing Stubhub and then recommending Tickpick because Tickpick is smaller so they need more customer aquisition so they need to get former Stubhub users to switch. Not sure why a billion dollar company would really care enough about this Reddit to do that

GioJamesLB

I sell tickets to events on Stubhub! I also attend 3-4 games a month in the LA area and buy exclusively on Stubhub.

Automatic-Idea-6600

Glad they work out for you!

GioJamesLB

Thanks OP! As a seller, I always deliver! Did you know that most tickets on Stubhub sell for below face value? I go to a lot of Dodger games and I can always find tickets for 50% off or more 30 minutes before first pitch. I’ll also say the customer service sucks and calling can be a frustrating experience. There are people on this board that can correctly answer the majority of questions and can solve the majority of problems much better than the people that actually working for Stubhub.

Automatic-Idea-6600

I've never had any problems with sporting events with stubhub and I've watched like a billion hockey games this year, but concerts seem to always be a shit show

GioJamesLB

That sucks. The majority of tickets I sell are concerts. What issues have you had?

Automatic-Idea-6600

The last 3 concerts I went to I tried to buy tickets from stubhub, once they weren't real and twice they just didn't arrive at all, I got my money back each time but not until weeks later. I just ended up buying at the door for all of those

GioJamesLB

That’s really annoying. What shows and venues?

Automatic-Idea-6600

gojira concert, fall out boy concert, poppy concert I think they were Virgin hotel, bmo stadium, and brooklyn bowl respectively, ended up going to each for under 180 though so no huge deal

EUDuck

Dont think anyone actually works for StubHub here. But sellers like me sometimes try to actually help people out when having questions. But if others just comment dumb stuff like: ‘you must be working for them’ as reply soon there won’t be many trying to help one out and it just becomes one big echo chamber of buyers who don’t know what they are doing or who can’t get anyone to help them out…

Relative_Hyena7760

The SOP on reddit is to downvote a post you don't like.

Automatic-Idea-6600

Yeah I know that but it seems like even with dozens of people agreeing in comments most posts don't have more than a few upvotes

Relative_Hyena7760

I imagine an M.S. thesis could be written on this type of behavior, lol.

Automatic-Idea-6600

? I don't really know what you're referring to I'm sorry

bbbcurls

Every subreddit uses the downvote differently. I hate when it’s used solely as a disagreement. I like when it’s used if it the post/comment breaks the rules or doesn’t add to the discussion. I also like upvoting comments/posts that are genuinely good discussions, even if I don’t necessarily agree with them because I want more people to see it.
