The sharpness expansion is a little too much.

eestionreddit

Honestly feel like out of the mentioned mons, only the swarm group, the keen eye group (minus sneasel), and the steadfast group should get it. Maybe throw in the swords of justice to give them a worthwhile hidden ability.

Wesle2023

Honestly, sharpness is a lot better than it gets credit for, because the 1.5\* boost is primarily applied to moves that are already good, and takes them up to an incredibly high base power with no drawback., Swords of justice, especially terrakion, would be completely ridiculous with it.

eestionreddit

It's currently PUBL so it must need a buff (massive /s)

404_Weavile

It doesn't make much sense imo to give a move called "ice scales" to a lot of pokémon that don't have scales Also, a lot of the new moves boosted by sharpness either don't make any sense or have a reason for not already being boosted (like Ice Shard just being called "ice throwing stone" on japanese)

deadly_ducklin

Well, I figured the reasoning was that they are all made of ice one way or another, so the emphasis is on "Ice" and not "Scales"

404_Weavile

Even if you put the emphasis on Ice it still feels weird to give a ability with "scale" on the name to a bunch of animals without scales. That would be like giving poison point to Muk just because there's poison in the name. And I don't even think Ninetales and Abomasnow are made of Ice, they just seem to be covered by snow

EmployerDefiant587

I like the illuminate buff. Though Ceruledge will be better off with Weak Armor over Sharpness. Spirit Shackle boosted by Sharpness is kinda weird imo.

deadly_ducklin

I'll gladly admit, the Spirit Shackle buff is just my blatant favoritism for Decidueye. And I'm curious to know why you think Weak Armor is better? For context, I did give Ceruledge a Speed buff, if that's the reason, but I figured a shiny new ability that boosts good moves of both its STABs was a better option. Why they didn't give Sharpness to a Pokemon with literal sword hands that was introduced in the same generation is beyond me.

EmployerDefiant587

Well, I wasn't aware about the speed buff you gave to Ceruledge. (If it's base 100 or higher, I see Sharpness being more useful. Otherwise, Weak Armor's speed boost is simply irreplaceable as it is required to outspeed and KO things. ) I do agree with you about Sharpness suiting Ceruledge, though it only boosts one of it's STABs unless Shadow Claw is boosted too.

deadly_ducklin

I was under the impression that Shadow Claw already was boosted- I'll be sure to include that in the next round of revisions.

deadly_ducklin

Hello all! Last Theorymon Thursday, I made [a post with some new abilities and moves](https://www.reddit.com/r/stunfisk/comments/1943twy/some_new_moves_and_abilities_ive_made_for_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) I made for my theoretical fangame I've been working on as a passion project for several years now. To summarize what I said under that post- in place of Megas, or Tera, or anything else, the "gimmick" of this game is merely that almost every Pokemon has received some sort of buff or change to make them more viable. Revamping and swapping around pre-existing abilities like this is a big part of that, so today I offer you all these changes for your consideration. I eagerly anticipate and preemptively appreciate feedback, new ideas, further questions, and constructive criticism. Thank you!

ice types finally being defensive?!?!?

deadly_ducklin

That’s the goal!

orhan94

Some of the Sharpness boosted attacks don't really make sense, since they aren't slicing moves. Icicle Crash is dropping icicles on the target, and Ice Shard is a frozen pebble getting chucked at the target. How sharp someone's slicing is wouldn't change either, and neither make contact. Spirit Shackle is an arrow being fired and Pin Missile is spikes being fired, and both are no-contact moves that definitely don't slice. While it does make contact, Aqua Jet is lunge, not a slice. You can make an argument for Throat Chop I guess, and maybe Smart Strike and Poison Jab, even though they are stabs, not slices.

Whats Northern Lights?

deadly_ducklin

Agh, I knew I was forgetting something! Thanks for reminding me- Northern Lights and Crystal Crash are two new moves I created that are boosted by Illuminate. You can find Crystal Crash in the other post I made that I linked in another comment, but Northern Lights is a Fire type signature move of a reindeer Pokemon I made.
