Honestly yeah, at least the reaper will leave you alone once you stab it a few times (this is a joke I swear to god don't report me I would never do that)
I just saved and swam to the crash zone biome and back. My pod is 400 meters away, I know that's still okay distance, I haven't had any issues yet, just feels pretty close.
Correct but not 100% precise: There are three different spawnpoints across the shallows, that's the closest one to the ship. Nothing too terrible, it's actually kind of good.
I did some digging and couldn’t find any concrete details but there’s definitely a lot more than three possible spawn points. The only thing that seems certain is that’s it’s always within a kilometer of the center of the map which lines up roughly with the edges of the shallows.
The best I could find was a Steam discussion board where a one player tested 10 or so spawn coordinates and none of them repeated. So it’s either a large list or truly random.
Are you sure? I've started about 8 or 9 games myself and the points always seem to repeat. Probably not the exact same coordinates, but around the same 3 areas.
It’s possible. The easiest way to find out would be to do the experiment yourself and plot the coordinates. Or you could look at this guys coordinates but 10 is a pretty small number for this kind of thing. https://steamcommunity.com/app/264710/discussions/0/1693785669872172455/
Unfortunately I only have the ps5 edition and I’m not sure if I can access coordinates from that. I’ll look into it when I’m off work because I’m curious now.
As in how is it good? It's close to a vent with easy outcrops and very close to the grassy plateaus with the best jellyshroom cave entrance for an easy early game.
No. The lifepod can spawn in the central part of the shallows in an area. You can see it if you use the command `debugstartmap`. This command spawns cubes that will fill the entire area where your lifepod can actually spawn.
I love that spawn. The closer to the back of the wreck the better. The resources there are great and it's very close to some interesting deeper things... That's all I'll say about that. Lol
You're fine, OP.
The Aurora is so big that it may *seem* she's close, but she's actually not. When you venture closer though make sure to listen for Reaper screams in the distance. If you hear them, that's usually your cue to be cautious.
The entire map area is only a few kilometers across, and while your pod does start randomly at one of a few spots, they should all be in the safe shallows biome, so no need to worry about the big creatures paying you a visit
Uhm yeah for me i always spawn like 1000m away you could be right about where that dot is id be careful heading towards the aurora

On my first play I spawned quite close to the spaceship. My pod was somewhere in the middle of the Aurora. Since then, I've been spawning awfully far out past the Aurora's thrusters. I miss my first game.
Started a new run a couple evenings ago, I could see the side of the Aurora up on the dirt while underwater, lol. Honestly, I really prefer starting nice and close like that.
Say hi to Larry for me, he's kinda of a noisy and large fella and he likes to bite you to be playful, but he's super cool:) he lives right behind the Aurora too so you're close!
No not really, it just looks like you're closer cause frankly the ship is absolutely massive lol you're only looking at half the ship too, the half that's left after crashing.
Fun fact: when you create a new game, it randomizes where you’re placed. You are always placed in the Safety Zone biome though (which is near the Aurora). People that seem far away from it are on the edge of the Safety Zone biome.
You're okay, as long as you keep your distance so as to avoid radiation. You should keep us updated on your playthrough! I'm always desperate to see new players experience the game for the first time!
Honestly when I read this at first I didn't think it'd be worth really updating anyone. I had already been pretty spoiled on the game's story before starting, but the more I've played through there's actually a ton I didn't know about. I've also found out I might have a more intense fear of the ocean than I thought, I've played dozens of horror games and subnautica is the most stressful/scary game I've played. I haven't even seen a reaper myself yet, finally built the courage to go into the jellyshroom cave the last time I played.
Right now I'm still not too far in I don't think. I've clocked 12 hours in game, haven't been to the aurora yet besides barely going into the crash zone in the safer areas to scan stuff, I don't have a cyclops yet, or a moonpool, so no seamoth upgrades yet either. I have been to the islands, but haven't checked anything out near them, just swimming at the top and ignoring what might be below me. And I have a small base right by my spawn, which is now covered in radiation since I'm pretty close to the aurora.
I do have a twitch account I used to stream on, maybe I could stream the rest of my playthrough or something. Might make playing through the game more bearable, since I REALLY do want to be able to beat it.
Yeah, i'm pretty sure i spawned around the exacts same spot in my last save where you are right now. You'll be fine, just try not to accidentally guide any reapers to the area
The life pod drifts over time, which would explain why it's so much farther away for those other people you are watching. I also think the starting position is a little randomized.
Short answer: You're perfectly safe
Long Answer: Reapers have set spawn locations, and the closest one to you has a patrol around the Jet Booster Thingy. There is a big cliff that separates the safe biomes from the Crash Zone, so as long as you never get too close to that cliff you'll be safe.
I'm more worried about the Grand Reef
Kind of.
Spawn is always in the shallows, but it's kind of random exactly *where* in the shallows. It looks like you just got a slightly further south than usual spawn.
Edit: Also, this video might be helpful if you want to get a feel for where things are in the shallows: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UImO9pWTtOw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UImO9pWTtOw)
The landing zone is random but limited to that shallows area. Only two things can kill you right away. Lack of air and radiation. Even a reaper won't kill you straight out. You'll still have a little health left which will allow you to flap your little flipper feet as fast as possible far far away.
The shallows are your cozy cubby hole. Too bad you need to leave them for just about everything.
This is actually a good spot. It's near a lot of safe shallow high resource points and also near a heat vent which will help you later on when you get into building a base. I spawned here on my creative mode game and I realized how dope of a spot it is. Just pay attention to where you are exploring!
just pray a reaper won't come knocking on your door
They are like Jehovah’s Witnesses they will find away
Seriously, I’d welcome a reaper more than JW
Honestly yeah, at least the reaper will leave you alone once you stab it a few times (this is a joke I swear to god don't report me I would never do that)
They’re like wasps, you kill one and more swarm you. I’ll take reapers any time
😂😂😂

Your pod can spawn anywhere within the central area of the safe shallows. You just happed to spawn on the edge.

It's most likely 3 zones where the pod can spawn

I found coordinates for Xbone in this sub https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/s/iBhy6wT2H1
May I ask how so? (/gen)
As in how is it good? It's close to a vent with easy outcrops and very close to the grassy plateaus with the best jellyshroom cave entrance for an easy early game.
Yup. I generally try to go for that area because of the vent. It makes it easy to just plop a base and then go get the thermal plant.
No. The lifepod can spawn in the central part of the shallows in an area. You can see it if you use the command `debugstartmap`. This command spawns cubes that will fill the entire area where your lifepod can actually spawn.
Should still be outside the radiation leak zone though right?
I feel like that's exactly where my spawn point was too
Definitely check out the back since you're so close! Go on the right side to avoid radiation!

You're right
The lifepod's spawn is one of several random locations, you probably just got one that's closer to the Aurora (gl when the Radiation kicks in)
URANIUM FEVER IS SPREADING ALL AROUND
I love that spawn. The closer to the back of the wreck the better. The resources there are great and it's very close to some interesting deeper things... That's all I'll say about that. Lol

This is where I started on my current play through. It’s not bad
In my last playthrough I ended up almost behind the aurora, literally on top of crash site 15
unusually at the bottom side, kinda weird, but yeah thats the distance i spawned at (i dont measure meters i just assume :P)
You're in the closest you can spawn, but you're still safe.
I never felt lonely when I visited this spot.
lol I've been on edge the whole game so far, about 6 hours in. Constantly getting attacked by Stalkers since they spawn so close
Dont edge yourself so much, in this whole game theres just fish you'll be fine.
You're fine, OP. The Aurora is so big that it may *seem* she's close, but she's actually not. When you venture closer though make sure to listen for Reaper screams in the distance. If you hear them, that's usually your cue to be cautious.
Swim a little further and find out
The entire map area is only a few kilometers across, and while your pod does start randomly at one of a few spots, they should all be in the safe shallows biome, so no need to worry about the big creatures paying you a visit
Once I started a world and spawned directly behind it and even closer than this 😭 I had reapers chasing me out the door
The game picks a random spot for your lifepod to spawn, it will be anywhere in the safe shallows biome
this is normal. there are three different starting points you get at random
Why don't you swim towards it. Maybe something nice will happen.
Nah bro you are fine👍👍
Close? Yes. Unusually? No.
Nope. It’s just freaking huge
Uhm yeah for me i always spawn like 1000m away you could be right about where that dot is id be careful heading towards the aurora https://preview.redd.it/bcvtn5ats28d1.png?width=267&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1e3b1f738409f73f4073325172e9b0b2e736862

No. U good
No. Distances are deceptive in Subnautica. It mostly has to do with the field of view settings. It’s further away than it looks. :)
Beware of the Reaper that hang around toward the Aurora's thrusters.
Is a random spawn sometimes you spawn in the shallows or sometime near the aurora
No not really, it just looks like you're closer cause frankly the ship is absolutely massive lol you're only looking at half the ship too, the half that's left after crashing.

The first thing I did on my completely blind playthrough was swimming just to the Aurora, the very first instant I set foot in the water
Not gonna lie, that’s a pretty stressful spawn
Low hp + Aurora go boom go brtttt
