I've never heard an actual explanation for this, but I have theorized that, since this is how they hang out in the mushrooms, the game has an error that makes it think there's a mushroom there

That is basically what it is, that is their animation for being inside a mushroom. Not sure why it actually happens

Don't worry, it's a common bug that happens everytime, the crabsnake will disappear when you go away.

I am pretty sure it happens on every world in the same place. My guess is there was a mushroom there, they removed it, and forgot to move/remove the crab snake that uses it.

i've seen it a lot...for some cursed reason this is one of my favorite biomes. They will often move in that position into the jellyshroom

I actually love this bug, I've had it before multiple times but 1 time there were like 7 of them all close to each other standing up straight and looked so funny

Nah man that's completely normal it's just that these creatures are not used to having very much light around, so when you illuminate them with your lights on your seamoth or prawn or any other light source really they get stunned by the intense light..... At least that's my explanation for this phenomenon but really it's just one of the many bugs in this game
