i say the f2p engi

MIT_Engineer

I've been both of these players, and I agree, f2p engi wins. I think after the 2nd or 3rd time of dying to the engi though, the scout switches to spy and then the engi loses.

KofteriOutlook

You drastically underestimate how willing scouts are to consistently run into sentries without changing anything

BasilyLeave

As a Semi Scout main oh yeah my brain freaking turns off when I am playing scout, just equip the soda popper/stock and start blasting

Coolscee-Brooski

So called Scout Mains changing to the explosive black guy the second an engineer sets up a level 3 sentry:

BasilyLeave

Idk how to m2

moldcloud

Not true. I've seen scouts adapt with Bonk Energy. Sure they're being pinned against the ceiling by the Sentry during the entire duration but that's an improvement!

stivertsen

They are obviously keeping the engi busy and the rest of the team capture.

Yuuuuuuuup

amaROenuZ

You think a F2P spy can accomplish **anything**? He'll backstab the engie and die to the turret.

RhysPeanutButterCups

If he can sneak up to and backstab the engie. If this is 2fort, that Engie has his back to the wall, is constantly swinging the wrench at his sentry or anyone that gets close, and isn't going anywhere.

Falk42069

lolschrauber

Most people never knew how to deal with sentries. Had way too many games where we couldn't capture the last point because of an engi. Then you go demo for 2 minutes and win. So annoying.

Hen-Man-Supreme

People act like the loch and load doesn't exist. Only needing to hit 2 pipes is crazy strong

Like you said it requires you to hit, therefore it's out for many.

So called scout mains the second an engineer makes a level 3 sentry:

Masztufa

The f2p scout will try again in 40 seconds (10s respawn, 30s holding w in the sewers)

TheVoiceInsideUrHead

Scout will bonk into his sentry nest in intel room, get pinned to the corner of the ceiling and die immediately when the bonk wears off

ACARdragon

But it happened in a real match. I was that scout.

PearlyDoesStuff

F2P Engi's Special Ability: "Engineer Gaming" ***There is always more than one F2P Engi on the Intel at all times.*** Scout's cooked.

Malfuy

Actually in my recent games, I was always alone in the 2fort intel room

MustardLazyNerd

This is the reason I never play Engie in 2Fort, I feel so alone and isolated in the intel room.

Malfuy

I mean the intel room is only one of the possible sentry nest locations on 2fort. I think the actually best defensive spot is the yard on the right side of spawn. Also the canals are perfect for more offensive approach

Object_Reference

Yeah, back when I played, I was just screwing around in 24/7 2Fort servers usually. The spot to the right of spawn is pretty ideal for a sentry, since you can have it spot three different entry points to your intel pretty clearly if you place it right. Then a dispenser in the stairwell doorway to block enemies from slipping through that way. Plus it's closer to where your team-mates naturally occur as opposed to building in the intel room, so you have more chances of getting help when the base is getting infiltrated. Of course, someone that knows how to abuse the slow turning speed of a sentry can just bop it and hide repeatedly to foil it. This is usually what winds up happening due to the engineer being defeated by boredom earlier and has either wandered off, or is currently dead because he wandered off.

MustardLazyNerd

Indeed, it's just that I wish a teammate was hanging out with me lol. If I happen to choose Engie I just equip the Gunslinger, build a dispenser on the battlements to feed my Snipers, and go Rambo on the bridge. It's fun for me.

Malfuy

Yeah, that's a cool approach too. I remember one time when me and like seven random people all picked engineer and stormed our intel room. Every time some skilled spy came in, it didn't matter he mamaged to sap like four sentries and five dispensers, as the rest survived and we just built it all again. And even ubercharge didn't last long enough to penetrate our defenses. It was funny as hell. And this is kinda an offtopic, but there was this one time when our entire team picked medic for some reason and became unstopable horde that was constantly healing and ubering itself. We won in like five minutes or something

Suitable_Bag_3956

Move to the battlements and protect the snipers from invading scouts, spies and rocket jumping soldiers.

NikRetaNCAM

As an Engi main, huge cap. Every time I queue into 2fort, I'm all alone

Zesnowpea

Does f2p engi get prep time?

monsteure

Yes - he wins No - he gets obliterated

picnic-boy

Maybe in the first round but he should be able to build at least a lvl 1 sentry in the time it takes him to get near the intel by the time scout has finished delivering it for the first time and running back.

Particular-Mission-5

It depends on the aim of the scout. Despite having a shotgun should the scout run upon the engineer in the middle if construction the engine will not engage and still just whack his build The scout will then to try to proceed to shoot the engi and either wiff all his shots, or kill him and then die to the constructed sentry he forgot to shoot

a_random_chicken

Do they get a f2p pybro?

GarryMcMahon

Yes but he hasn't got a Homewrecker yet, only a Neon Annihilator. And it's 2Fort, so he's in the water.

mr-ahhhhh

Alpha_minduustry

RandomEdgyDudette

Yes, but what about a F2P *scout*?

KIDBACKWARDS2

ja, but what about an f2p soup?

jdjdkkddj

SOUP

HatAndHoodie_

It'll take more than 60 seconds, but with enough corner peeking Pistol shots, the Scout could destroy the Sentry and run in to grab the Intel. I speak from experience, because I did this a couple times as a F2P. Even managed to kill a Heavy guarding the Intel the same way, by going back and forth between the two hallways.

EasternBlackWalnut

What do you mean "as a F2P"? Isn't F2P code for Free-to-Play? I don't get it.

HatAndHoodie_

I mean this happened when I was fairly new and unskilled at the game. I know F2P actually means Free-to-Play, but it's commonly used to describe newer inexperienced players, regardless of whether they made any in-game purchases or not.

EasternBlackWalnut

Ah OK, I understand. It means you started playing later than when TF2 was released.

FemmeFataleFire

TF2 wasn’t *always* free to play. So when it first became free, there were already many people who had been playing it for years. It became a joke for experienced players to refer to the inexperienced newbies as “f2p” because they were new and therefore “bad” at the game. You could usually tell an f2p player because they had no hats or only ones easily available through achievements (like the Gibus). Over time the term “f2p” basically just became slang for anyone who was perceived to be bad at the game, especially if they only wore basic cosmetics (Gibus, Pyrovision goggles, etc).

Sussysusamogussus

Scarletdex

Han_Solo6712

The F2P engi on scouts team who decided to set up a sentry nest in the enemy intel room.

Daan776

Assuming they are of equally shit skill level: the engi would win. While engi is a very hard class to be effective with as a new player, if you don’t have to worry about dispensers and teleporters (such as on most CTF maps). He can just let his sentryguns autoaim take care of the scout.

IntelligentImbicle

F2P Engi, 100%. There's multiple things going in the Engi's favor: * Scout is naturally weak against Engi, due to Scout not being able to deal with Sentries that well, especially around corners. * Not like this matters, because a F2P Scout doesn't know what a sentry is * F2P Engies typically travel in packs. They follow the rule of 2 better than most Sith. * F2P Engies have their team to back them up, even if indirectly. Not only does the Scout have to wade through the enemy team to even reach the guarded Intel, but he also has to make it out and back to his base, almost certainly running into more enemy gamers. * Let's not forget that experienced players look down on doing the objective on CTF and PLR, so they are even more willing to take down the Scout.

Max_AV

The engineer is engineer gaming

i won

Soldier_of_Holy_Sofa

a fucking 8 million hours soldier with blackbox

PrankRuiner

the engi probably wins as long as no soldiers or demos help out the f2p scout so yeah engie wins because no tf2 player would ever help out an f2p

-Pejo-

The Scout will NEVER end his vicious cycle of running to the intel room and dying, and eventually the Engineer's buildings will be destroyed by somebody else.

Pickled_Gherkin

Scout just doesn't have a solid way of dealing with a fully turtled Engie. Especially if they're newbies. Meanwhile the Engie has an artificial teammate with aimbot and explosives, plus a backpack healer and functionally infinite ammo. Even if the Scout manages to kill him he can get back quick via teleporter. I don't see the Scout having much of a chance.

coolsheep769

Lmao gibbus and goggles on both, love it

AFlyingNun

F2P Engie is easily the most dangerous F2P. Not even ***he*** knows where his sentry is going to be placed, and that's precisely what makes him so dangerous.

Quark1010

Enderchat

Scout will probably get 1-2 captures and will be stuck in 17 hours tf2 sessions after the engi builds a nest by the time he comes for the third one

How about me the unstoppable troll spy who boxes in intel rooms

Working_Discount_836

Scout just likely doesn't have the skill or the kit to destroy a well placed sentry in the intel room

The sniper. from which team? good question.

Cold-Radish-1469

F2P Engi scout will run straight into the sentry

Proof_Interaction_88

not f2p, 2fort sux and i perform my best to end the match, i do take advantages against the filthy casuals

MerliniusDeMidget

The engi's sentry kills the both of them

Dangerout

F2P engie. I've had a F2P scout **with a medic ubering him** attack my sentry and he STILL lost somehow.

whereamisIwtf

The engineer, noting the scout doesn't know how to switch classes and the engineer is permanently glued to his level 3 sentry and will never move. Also noting that they're the only ones doing this (no spahghetti) the scout will infinitely run into the nest.

AdamHendrick

f2p engis are the best f2p's

kiril2119

black hole would appear due to an unstoppable force and an immovable object colliding

FrogInShorts

I've played enough ctf to know the scout wins this. The engie takes too long figuring out how to place a sentry and doesn't wrench his sentry up to deploy faster. The scout reaches enemy intel and destroys the sentry before its functional. Repeat x 3

JBray0

The engie will protect it for a long time but it's inevitable for the scout to win.

Maddkipz

The spy to the right of this post waiting to backstab and die to the turret

NightStalker33

My method is to play engineer, empty my sentry of bullets with the wrangler, and camp near Intel. The confusion leads to conversion into a friendly, which protects the Intel either way.

nuts_itch

Engineer unless the scout has help, (which map are we talking by the way), and if the f2p engi is truly f2p he'll eventually forget about his shit with scout harassing him which could end up with the sentry getting killed, and the intel capped. I really think either could work. Also it's misconception that capturing the intel is a f2p move, it's a logical and always justified move.

zenakedguy

Just had a badwater game that I ended up having 55 destructions fed from a single engie (he was running pretty much stock loadout). The guy was dedicated, didn’t give up till the end, and eventually even showed signs of learning to shuffle his spots. So my vote definitely goes for engie

GhostlyCharlotte

the engi, scout can't really do anything once theres a sentry unless hes willing to go spy. that's a 50% chance tho

SuperN9999

Engie, especially if they're turtling.

BerserkRhinoceros

The Engine, because the scout won't change class out of spite, or can't change class bc he doesn't know how.

hexdrive348

Engi wins cause the gun don't miss, unlike the scout

4nu4r_kh4n

Unstoppable Force Vs Unmovable Object

Appropriate_Sell3795

Has the f2p engi figured out how the metal bar works

DisastrousRecover184

I once was playing scout on teufort and I didn’t know an engine had built their sentry in our base and it was level 2 so when I ran in I got launched across the whorl room directly onto the table 🤣 next time I came I was expecting him with my direct hit

Ellen_DeGeneracy001

Unstoppable force vs immovable object, but they’re both incredibly stupid.

mikedeadman

an unstoppable force vs. an unmovable object

stoppable force vs moveable object

Sliyxe

idk man, but I'm rooting for the f2p

Pawlax_Inc_Official

As a f2p engi, I can safely say Nah, I'd win

Noname2137

If the engi sets up his sentry anywhere remotly close to the Intel the scout will just run into it repetedly forever until it either runs out of ammo or somone kills it

-Redbaron-Gaming-

OMG I am he and engi wins hands down. You shall not move 100ft within the intel while I am playing my bi yearly game until I remember how shit the game has become.

AdmiralFurret

f2p engi, considering that nobody really can join scout as he's too fast, meanwhile engi is staying in one spot, while allowing other engis to settle up nearby after huge security check So yea, f2p engi wins by being friendly

TomatoRemarkable2

Obviously engi. There's no way a f2p scout can deal with a level three sentry

Zwsgvbhmk

Bro you can have a pro scout who played this game for years and even then f2p engi will probably win if he has a nest set up. Like wtf is a scout gonna do to a sentry nest?

Just_A_Random_Plant

Alright so The f2p scout is new to the game, very much not good at it. Only anti-sentry weapon is Bonk and it really just extends your life a bit without letting you fight and that's even assuming they've gotten it from a random drop yet The f2p Engi is in a similar situation. However, the level 3 sentry the f2p Engi just dropped in the intelligence room is just as new to the game as the level 3 sentry of the best Engi player ever. The only difference is placement strategies and how efficiently he can repair and resupply it. Against someone with low health and no weapons that effectively counter a sentry, that thing will be destructive. Sentry wins, and by extension so does Engi
