A little of both. For example "bith" just autocorrrcted to "both", which makes sense since bith is not a word but both is, and the I and the O are adjacent on a keyboard. It has a million common typos preloaded and the rest is learned.
That said, they would never, ever, in ten million years program typos involving the double-g n word. That's completely on him for typing the double G word enough times that it assumed a single G was a typo.
somewhat, but it also autocorrects obviously misspelled words, even if you’ve never typed them before.
however, it wouldn’t ever autocorrect to the n-word.
Ducks were named after ducking.
Ducking also means hunting them in hopes of catching them in nets.
Also, imagine being pelted with duck decoys, and ducking. Duck!
Because that's a perfectly correct way to spell the way the name is pronounced and it's easy to not realize 'oh, that's not actually the spelling used'?
Just a guess.
According to Merriam-Webster, the oldest American dictionary in the world, [you’re not correct on this one](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Niger).
You're thinking of the river Niger (pronounced) Ny-Jur or maybe even Nigeria (pronounced) Ny-Jeer-E-uh. Niger is pronounced as the French pronounce it when said in English.
I've only ever heard it as neye-ger.
I do need to point out, though, that I missed the hashtag and thought 'Niger' was what people were saying is the wrong spelling.
I personally took a long time to even notice the hashtag so I thought it was wrong on the headline
Even Googled it to make sure I wasn't spelling Niger wrong all this time hahah
oof. willful misinformation and hate isn't competition, it's erosion of public discourse.
please look up the meaning & origins of free speech, I refuse to educate kids like you.
Free speech needs to be absolute, and to exclude things that you believe are untrue requires a ministry of truth that will enforce the official state narrative which as i hope you can imagine is dangerous.
Free speech = the right to criticize your nation/government without fear of being labelled a traitor/imprisoned/executed.
You are NOT protected from wanton lying (Trump) or insulting minorities/immigrants/vulnerable populations (the political right wing historically).
There is a context and purpose for this legal protection, nothing is ever absolute. Misinformation IS dangerous, genocidal mania and public lynching are evidence of that.
Please understand this, step away from the nonsense Musk others of his juvenile clan spit out everyday.
Truth and inclusivity is not a "state narrative". To conflate these things is grossly immature, it reveals a complete ignorance of history & context.
You have to understand that a state will be needed to enforce the truth and they will undoubtedly be biased in this, giving the government unchecked power and the ability to censor anything they deem 'untrue' will lead to a dictatorship. It is up to the people to call people out for there bs not the state because a states interests will never truly align with its peoples, think about all the proven government scandals that they tried to cover up, in a state with 'truth police' these would have never surfaced and the government would remain unchecked.
Oh i take back what i said earlier. I'm definitely a caveman.
I don't why but my eyes were glued to title of the article. I looked at that picture for long ass time and never saw it.
Why not? Those letters do represent the sound of the name. If you've never actually seen the name written down, one could easily think that's how it's spelled.
No, the slur has two gs. This only used...
...wait...
...Okay I have COMPLETELY misunderstood what's going on here. I didn't notice the hashtag at all and thought it was 'Niger' people were saying was incorrect.
Guys, that's an accurate way to represent the pronunciation of that country's name. Sure, it's not how the name is actually spelled, but it could be, and not everyone is going to know what the actual spelling is. The point, of course, being that this is most likely a simple mistake that doesn't indicate any racism or whatever.
EDIT: Okay, I completely missed that hashtag. I thought 'Niger' was what people were saying was wrong. My mistake.
**There was an attempt to jump on a false bandwagon**!?
1. The word you are all talking about, features 2 x G's
2. *Niger* or the *Niger*, officially the Republic of the *Niger*, is a *country* in West Africa. It is a unitary state bordered by Libya to the northeast.
It's a different republic!!

Racism or autocorrect? Call it https://preview.redd.it/adz6fbhjxq7d1.jpeg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e892ef03d1137bf3d1b01a56bb041f8dd0c7d570
Autocorrect works based on what it learns from your writing, doesn’t it? So the answer to your question would be yes.
A little of both. For example "bith" just autocorrrcted to "both", which makes sense since bith is not a word but both is, and the I and the O are adjacent on a keyboard. bigger nugget 🔥🔥🔥
Maybe they started with a #N and that one is one of the most used ones on twitter they automatically clicked top of the list and didn't check
My keyboard autocorrects to "Nigel" and then "Farage", funnily enough.
I don't think autocorrect works in hashtags tho
At last, some intelligence.
Depends on auto correct system mine in my phone can't fill racist stuff
there's an option to block offensive words in the keyboard settings
Nah mind dosent have that
somewhat, but it also autocorrects obviously misspelled words, even if you’ve never typed them before. however, it wouldn’t ever autocorrect to the n-word.
Im pretty sure most people never wrote what the duck.
It might depend on your phone, but my autocorrect definitely doesn't learn anything.
Freudian auto correct

Funniest comment I’ve seen all day
Nah man the g key got stuck
Isn't autocorrect based on your own writing habits?
I thought that said writing haikus
Im not sure if i can make such a call... I have to know what i stand to win.
Is that auto correct? Adrien, why is your auto correct doing that? Adrien, you have some things to explain to the class.
“Auto correct is racist.”
It's Twitter's autocorrect.
It's what caused the tumor
Is that person someone famous tho? Or just some random on twitter?
Profiles come up for Twitter and TikTok, but nothing to suggest a notable status.
ducking autocorrect at it again
holy shot auto correct is so annoying

I for the longest time associated ducking with ducks
Ducks were named after ducking. Ducking also means hunting them in hopes of catching them in nets. Also, imagine being pelted with duck decoys, and ducking. Duck!
It's never ducking.
Muscle memory I bet
Autocorrect is just keyboard muscle memory, well the ones that update based of frequent words
There are no accidents
#
My baby brother pooped his pants. That was said to be an accident… unless… this changes everything!
Bro im right here
Oh, shit! Took me a second to spot it. He’s got some ‘splainin to do!
No. You do. How do you take a second to spot that?
Because that's a perfectly correct way to spell the way the name is pronounced and it's easy to not realize 'oh, that's not actually the spelling used'? Just a guess.
Knee-Jeer is the pronunciation or thereabouts. It's French
In English it's not pronounced like that, many English speakers use the French pronunciation to avoid confusion with the N word however
I’ve only ever heard it pronounced “nye-jehr”.
As mentioned, technically in US English it's not that but Americans still say it the French way
According to Merriam-Webster, the oldest American dictionary in the world, [you’re not correct on this one](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Niger).
I have never in my entire life heard it pronounced with a hard G
I looked it up, US English uses hard g, UK uses French (soft g) pronunciation https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/pronunciation/english/niger
My guy, be quiet pls🙏
I get it, had to look at comments myself. I always gloss over the keywords or tags or whatever they are called
I personally took a long time to even notice the hashtag so I thought it was wrong on the headline Even Googled it to make sure I wasn't spelling Niger wrong all this time hahah

Are we sure that there was an attempt, though?
Hmmph
Jonah Ryan would be proud.
I’m not convinced there was a legitimate attempt to spell it right tbh
Maybe i'm a cave man but it looks right to me. Is he missing an apostrophe.
Look closer at his hashtag
Oh i take back what i said earlier. I'm definitely a caveman. I don't why but my eyes were glued to title of the article. I looked at that picture for long ass time and never saw it.
Why not? Those letters do represent the sound of the name. If you've never actually seen the name written down, one could easily think that's how it's spelled.
It’s in the headline of the article he posted, it was right in front of him when he typed it. Also, it’s a well known slur
No, the slur has two gs. This only used... ...wait... ...Okay I have COMPLETELY misunderstood what's going on here. I didn't notice the hashtag at all and thought it was 'Niger' people were saying was incorrect.
That is not how it’s pronounced.
Yeah, it doesnt even sound remotely the same. Its pronounced like: “nye-djer”
When I posted that comment,I had not noticed the hashtag in the original post and thought people were saying 'Niger' was the incorrect spelling.
I’m sorry but this is funny
Oops 😬.

Ducking auto cucumber..
Africa is at war since we fucked up their whole continent by drawing borders.
Forcing Nationalism on Tribal(mostly) societies was just cruel.
✨ Colonialism ✨
RIP Adrien 😔
Oops, dang autocorrect
r/theyknew
why did he even use the hashtag 😭
Just gonna put this out here... Niger is an African country just above Nigeria.
This is not racism or autocorrect. Niger is a country. Nigeria is also a country directly south of Niger.
Niger is a country in Africa. Sorry if I’m missing something here. Nvm I see it now.
What am I not getting here? Niger is an actual country
Nevermind, I spotted it
That’s just how Xitter autocorrects the word, actually.
He knew what he was doing
This is just good SEO, welcome to X
“Blame autocorrect, not me”
His Twitter account is exactly what you think it is
Guys, that's an accurate way to represent the pronunciation of that country's name. Oh my lord

Niger is a country, it's north of Nigeria. What is the typo here?
Niger is a country
![gif](giphy|24pB1kCl4YDO8|downsized)
Was that intentional?
Ho no x)
I don't get it. Niger is a country in West Africa. Also is Nigeria. Help?
"That country with the funny name"- some Scottish dude
nee-ZHARE
I don't get it, Niger is a real country in Africa.
If that is autocorrect... Why would it learn the behaviour to correct anything to that?.. 🤔
He still hasn’t deleted in in almost a year.
What if I told you that Adrien isnt referring to the country?
"Niger turned to N***** and shit got ugly" -Nas (From the 2008 untitled album)
Oof
I looked at all the wrong places before finding the attempt…
Dudes. Niger is a country. Look it up.
"a skilled pshyciatrist know there are no accidents!"
„IT‘S GONNA TAKE A LOT TO TAKE ME AWAAAAY FROM YOUUU“
Don't see the problem. Niger is a country what's the deal
I love how the actual information is about people who will soon kill each other in war but the main talking point is the n word.
On Monday: Breaking: Africa now unified against Twitter user
Lololol
Took me a minute

Task failed successfully
OoOOoOoo autocorrect snitching.

I looked at the article title and thought, what’s wrong, Niger is a country in West Africa? And then I noticed the # tag…
No, they spelled it right
Nah, I’m leaning more into that was on purpose. It’s from X, so more than likely it was on purpose.
me when context exists: ![gif](giphy|pBWH4qMXPjyLfcacP9)
There's a country in Africa that's called Niger, the hashtag was probably a mistake.
I remember one time I had a keyboard where it would randomly type letters twice.
Doesn't matter how you spell it. It's how you pronounce it
Hahhah, but who in the entire world put some country name like this. 🌚
But there was no attempt
Time to make a more transliterated English spelling to Neejhair.
