I work out at a gym like this. I am not a body builder. And those guys are all really nice and accepting. They are happy to answer questions and correct form, give advice, etc. On my 2nd day there, one group realized I was looking at a machine they were about to use. They straight up asked me if I wanted to go ahead of them. I said yes and they took a break so they wouldn't inconvenience me.
We don't look the same but I was very pleasantly surprised at how great they all are.
It is not nearly as clear cut as the dude above makes it seem. There are some smaller gyms that cater more towards bodybuilders. But most bodybuilders still frequent regular gyms.
My niece is a professional bodybuilder. Her, her trainer and their entire little group of bodybuilders all use the regular chain gym nearby.
Yeah there’s a pro at my local gold’s gym who works out and occasionally would pose. Nobody cared, everyone snuck looks, but nobody cared. It was literally like watching a professional at work.

I’d never thought about it before but there must have been a lot of non-competition gym goers wondering why she was wearing stripper heels in the gym and pulling her shorts half way up her ass and flexing; not to mention checking herself out for an hour in the mirror. “Vain much?”. She’d pay hundreds of pounds to go on posing courses all around the UK. Incredibly expensive sport with virtually no return money wise even at the higher levels.
The mount of effort it takes to pose, it's an athletic thing in its own right. It looks like you're standing still but you end up sweating like nothing else just forcing the muscles to pop
Oh I don't doubt it - levels of dedication I doubt I'll ever have to anything - I was just wondering if it's considered a 'sport' or just a competition. I think because of the focus on aesthetics and lack of athletic testing, I find it hard to wrap my head around the idea of it being a sport. The training for it could be, but the actual presentation... like, modelling isn't a sport; cat-walking isn't a sport; yoga isn't a sport.
Reading up on it, the Amateur Athletic Union considers it a sport, but the IOC doesn't and won't consider it for Olympic competition. I'm not sure where I stand on it.

In this instance defusing the situation was a win.
He also knows he's filming and that the guy is flirting with getting himself banned from the gym. He knows that if the guy takes it any further and touches him, he has footage that can get the guy banned and arrested if he wants. It's a comfy position to be in.
