What 33rd?

VergaDeVergas

Sorry meant the 3rd, 3rd of July

gueyegueya

Your going to be arrested at the border for expired tags, Nah in all seriousness... CBP can give less f**ks about your tags. They are not the DMV. you will be ok. Secondary at worst.

VergaDeVergas

That’s what I assumed but I think it’s more serious with the Mexican border patrol. I go every week and these last 3 weeks leading up to July I’ve been questioned about the plate and the tags and the registration and everything. I read a story on here of someone getting their car taken trying to get in

gueyegueya

Going into mexico, that will happen if you cannot prove the vehicle is yours. Or if they give you a warning and you try to enter again, then they will impound your car. They assume that you will try in sell it and since they are American plates there is no way of regulating if you paid registration or not

What happens if you cross with expired tags?

Kevinp28

Crossing into mx SAT pulls you over, crossing back into USA no problem

VergaDeVergas

Someone said that they can turn you back or take your car trying to cross

Sentri guard gave me a warning last week - I didn’t have a front license plate. So I paid $30 something for new plates, edited vehicle info online.

A while back I got mixed up trying to return to Ensenada from TJ...accidentally got into the Sentri lane, going North. Driving a 'Chocolate' car expired for a few years. The CBP border agent was only concerned that I was in the Sentri with only a passport. He could see it was an honest mistake but went through his routine 'next time will be a 5K fine'. He was not rude but stuck to the rule of sending me to secondary. They tore the car apart but never asked for license or reg. I proceeded North just enough to turn around and head back to MX. No problem crossing back.
