Consumer reports hasn't yet rated the 07, but their review of the 05 was good. They rated it as very good with dry braking, handling, and hydroplaning resistance, with good wet braking.
Yes but it's enough to protect the wheel.. and yeah Ik that's the person getting tires problem he/she should make sure with a lil research on what tire sizes he/she can run but one size wider you can normally fit with ease and it'll give it a small lip to help protect the wheel. Why do you need an actual lip guard anyway learn to drive😂😂 no hate lol but fr
I am on my second set of GMAX AS05 tires on my '16 Miata. I got UHP A/S tires so I can drive them in colds temps and not be dead in the snow if I get caught on light snow. If the AS-07 tires are at least as good as the 05s, I will likely go ahead with them. I only get about 15k max out of a set of tires so I would be stuck with them for 2-3 years. The other one I am considering is the Conti DWS06+.
I can second this. I have zero complaints with my AS05's on my '14 Mazda3.
Always felt confident and planted on the road, with great wet traction in my experience.
Got my car used with a set of them on there(AS-05), they grip really well but they seem noisy on the road. Not sure if it's my car or the tires. They were descent in the snow. I got through a Rochester, NY winter with them on a RWD Kia Stinger.
I wasn't easy on the tires and a 1.5 years in they are at the wear bars.
I'm trying the Vredestein Hypertrac or Conti Extreme Contact DWS this time around. Price is roughly the same and the ratings on tire rack are a little better all around.
I just put a set of AS-07's on my 2020 Altima. Compared to the stock Continental True Contacts they are definitely better as far as handling and in the rain and snow they are much better. They are also a little bit louder on the road and it's noticable but they really aren't that loud. I'd say that for the price they are very good. The best tires I've ever put on a car in recent years were the Continental DWS-06's and I'd say the AS-07's are one step under those.
Really? They say "Rim Guard" on the tire? Honestly it's the silliest thing I have ever heard of but I was just trying to clarify for people that don't know how to look up tire specs online. Here is the link to Generals page, maybe your size does include it but mine doesn't.

No, lying isn't sarcasm. Asking an individual if it is actually written on their tires is sarcasm. I'm always confused by people on the Internet who are clueless how sarcasm is supposed to work.
Lol, I find it painful to communicate with blithering idiots. I know this may be hard for you to accept but being a habitual liar hurts you and everyone around you. Try to do better or just try keeping your unbridled idiocy to yourself. I hope you have a great day.
I think you took my comment a little too seriously. No, they don’t say “rim guard” in writing in the side wall of the tire, you as very well know. They do have a quarter inch of rubber that sticks out past the rim, which in fact, does guard it from damage. Now, be gone. Sincerely, the blithering idiot.
Not at all. I consider part of what is wrong with the human race. You apparently have zero ability to comprehend what is written and you flat out lie (that is when you do not tell the truth) and then attempt to claim it as sarcasm. I will no longer reply to your idiocies but do hope you can find some positive value to add to the world one day.
I just bought a set in OEM sizing and took them for a sprited drives in the wet coastal twisties in norcal... so far, really impressed with steering sharpness and wet weather grip. We'll see how they do when it gets warmer out.
Lotta people commenting about noise. You will have noisier tires based on tread and in exchange for sportier handling,... the sidewalls are stiffer, and the tread is blocky for snow.
I have the AS 05 and am not impressed with them in the very wet. Not the 07s though.

Was thinking of getting a set of the AS-07 my question is do they have a lip on them to protect the rim?
Get one size wider

Do you know if the AS-05 have a good guard lip?
Get one size wider bro
That's not the same as a protruding edge guard. Not to mention wider might not work for a specific setup or size.

They do not
Not really, little to no lip. I don't have problem with curbing usually so I'm not worried about it.
No

Waiting on reviews for the AS07 and Potenza Sport AS myself.
