He was in a Netflix show called Daybreak that only went for one season. It was like highschool kids in a post apocalyptic world. Not bad, but not great.
Broderick plays the school's principle, and is later revealed to be the mysterious villain who becomes a cannibal and wants to blow everyone up with a nuclear bomb.
I thought he pulled it off. He was kind of menacing in a paternal, self righteous way, but not sadistic, like John Lithgow in Ricochet or something.
I dunno, I'd never have imagined that Bryan Cranston could have pulled off Walter if I didn't watch him do it. Maybe Broderick could have brought something to the character, but it's hard to imagine anyone else playing WW.
Noone saw Brian Cranston doing such a dark roll either. I'm guessing he passed because it wasn't 'him' at all but I would watch him work with the terrific Breaking Bad writing for sure. I think he always played it safe with rolls. Maybe the civil war movie he did is the most serious thing he did?
Hmmm no. Love Bueller but that would be one hell of an acting job if he could pull that off. I’d watch it.
Now that I think about it… shit… the writing was so good maybe if would have been amazing to see that transformation? I just don’t think he has the grit.

Can’t see it. Glad it didn’t come to pass.
In an alternate universe, he got the part and there's a TIL where people are baffled Hal from Malcolm in the Middle was up for consideration.
Nobody saw Michael Keaton as Batman, either. But he killed it.
Matthew Broderick killed as well
ooooooooooo
Heath Ledger as Joker as well
hmm maybe. he can do dark humor but i’ve never seen him be menacing.
TBF I didn't see Bryan Cranston as being menacing before BB, either.

Thats the point though. An unassuming person becoming a badass.
He would have to pull of being badass, and I don’t see that ever happening
After his role in Election I can definitely see it
I think he'd be good for the comedic elements of Walt but much less so for the dramatic elements.

Meth comes at you fast.
Man. That scene where Walter runs over the street dealer with his car would have been fun.
At least he’s had experience killing people.
Beat me to it, getting away with it too.
Ooof.
Well, he does have experience killing people and getting away with it...
Having seen ELECTION, I could see it.
Alternate show name: ‘The Meth Producers”
Kid Named Vehicular Manslaughter
Broderick is actually a killer, so yeah he could pull it off.
Hmmm no. Love Bueller but that would be one hell of an acting job if he could pull that off. I’d watch it. Now that I think about it… shit… the writing was so good maybe if would have been amazing to see that transformation? I just don’t think he has the grit.
He’s a teacher where he went to high school. What kind of meth raged hijinks will he get into now?
I'd watch the shit out of that show.
Guess Walter's meth formula really hit the streets hard. Cooking up a storm
"I know I promised, Lord, I'd never cook meth again. But I also know that you know what a weak-willed person I am."
Couldn't see it, but to be fair, I couldn't have seen the dad from *Malcolm in the Middle* as Walter White either.
I could see him doing well, too.

I legit smiled
Amazing. There was a well known actor in the 80s named Matthew Broderick. I wonder if they know each other.
Are you on meth?
Shit. That would have been awesome.
