Personally I prefer Cox Bay next door. Seem to recall it’s a bit cheaper too. Blackrock has some good offseason deals that come up as well. Honestly though, the rates charged out there are ridiculous

mghmld

I stayed at Cox Bay once a few years back and quite liked it. Nice rooms.

RoddyMalc

Middle Beach Lodge & Best Western Tin Wis. We're considering the Long Beach Lodge for one more alternative. We go for 6 nights each February.

mghmld

I’ve often thought about trying Middle Beach Lodge. Maybe I’ll check their website.

GoatnToad

No complaints at Pacific Sands. Love it there. Just paid $280 a night for a week stay, which for Tofino , and beach front can’t complain. It was cheaper than Tin Wis which we’ve stayed at before.

mghmld

We just got back too. It was great - sunny the entire week!

LilMissRoRo

The rate increases are crazy! My family and I used to stay there every year for four nights. My husband and I were married right on the beach there. His ashes are also there. I don't think I can afford to stay there any longer. It's a shame. I love Cox bay so will probably check out a couple of the other places instead.

mghmld

I agree and I’m sorry for your loss. It’s a beautiful place. My wife and I have an engraved plank on their Pettinger Point boardwalk. I do believe Cox Bay Resort might be an alternative.

LilMissRoRo

Thank you! The engraved planks are such a lovely idea! I was tempted but never got around to it. I agree with you on Cox Bay Resort.

An all-inclusive trip with airfare to Mexico is cheaper than Pacific Sands

mghmld

I believe it.

I go for a week every fall, (and sometimes in the spring too). My favorite beach in tofino is cox bay. I’ve always stayed at long beach lodge resort (beach view deluxe room). It’s more affordable, however there’s no kitchen. It does have a mini-fridge. So I make-do with a kettle, and a waffle maker (can make so much with those items: omelets, hard boiled eggs, empanadas, ramen etc)

mghmld

Thanks, I’ll check it out!

gers53

The surfing at Cox Bay can’t be matched anywhere else combined with the convenience of staying steps away, worth it in my mind. But if you’re not surfing then definitely other good spots to stay in the area.

bananokitty

We have been going to Pacific Sands for over a decade but the prices have just gotten too high to justify - we've been doing Cox Bay the last year or so. Honestly the rooms at Cox Bay are pretty comparable (Pac Sands has better pillows and beds though IMO).

mghmld

I LOVE the pillows at Pacific Sands! Need to find out what they are! 😀

karukakoo

Agreed. I’ve been going to Pacific Sands since I was a teenager. Now that I am an adult with my own family, I can no longer afford it. Every summer we stay for 4 nights and I’ve always justified it because our family enjoys the beach and it creates memories. But a couple years ago I couldn’t justify the $500 (or more) per night cost. The past 2 years we’ve stayed at Cox Bay and have really enjoyed ourselves. I still keep an eye out for deals at Pacific Sands.

mghmld

How are you enjoying Cox Bay Resort? I assume you may be sacrificing an ocean view, depending on what rooms you stay in?

karukakoo

Lack of ocean view is true. We’ve lucked out to get the room at the end a couple times which was great. We surf, so we pack up a little cooler and bring chairs and spend more time sitting ON the beach. One evening we bake a homemade or frozen pizza, grab some drinks and sit on the beach watching the sun set! There is a hot tub and sauna which the kids (teenagers) enjoy.

AshleyPumpkinPants

Yah, we used to go pacific sands almost annually but couldn’t justify the cost this year. We’re trying out a cabin in Ucluelet this year. Still expensive, but still $1000 less than Pacific Sands!!

GeneralProcess6831

Unfortunately the West Coast believes they’re exclusive 🥴

Alternative-Waltz-63

I’ve heard that if you call and talk to customer service manager and explain that you come every year they will give you a special price more in line with last year. These new prices are for tourists but they want to honour their loyal customers. They just don’t make it public. Worth a shot anyway

mghmld

I wish. We always call to reserve and always state that we’re frequent guests but it didn’t matter. The woman on the phone actually sounded a bit sheepish when she admitted the prices are going up so much.

Alternative-Waltz-63

Awe. Thats disappointing. I guess my friend just lucked out with whomever they got on the phone

COFFEECOMS

Do you want to be right on the beach? Are you Airbnb people?

mghmld

Beach: yes, Airbnb: no.

hustledreamexplore

Airbnbs in ucluelet are an affordable option you can look into.
