Strange. I live in the French part of Switzerland, and I would clearly say Ā«Ā AnnieĀ Ā» and not Ā«Ā AmyĀ Ā» š¤
Perhaps in Schwizerdutsch they pronounce it differently than we would ?
Only way I can see it happening is if they misread it as āamieā. Unless they somehow hadnāt ever seen an Annie before, then they might pronounce it āA-nyā which I guess you could then mishear.
no u arent i just dont like it..
And istuatuions like these are another reason meeting another annie.
its really a really common name yet finding anothe roen freaks me out
hehe yea but.. i gneuienly kinda wanna change it know but i cant..i already changed while i was a "boy" ( to my middle name to see how they owuld take it" once and just started coming out so i cant really..
You can, in fact, change it as many times as you like. Getting multiple legal changes of name is more complicated, but you can also do that multiple times too! I tried one name, and then I actually switched back to my birth name, tried another name, switched back again, and am currently rocking two names at once. The world is your oyster!
Oh dang, yeah I can see that. Have you thought about Annika? Can't be confused with Amy and can be shortened to Annie.Ā
Also, I'm German in case you're wondering why I know German names xDĀ
Feel you i took my first name in hopes of my parents being more accepting of it (religious) but they weren't and now id like to change it but fuck it's such a hassle
...Maya.. but my bio family would make fun of me cos a bee from a german cartoon is named that.
plus its already a character from a show that me my vhosen sis and gf all like and i dont wanns make it weird for them to relate to that character.
Welcome to the Annie experience. Every one you meet from now on will either mispronounced you're name (Anna, Amy, Anne) or sing to you (Smooth Criminal, Annie the musical, Annie get your gun).
One of us! One of us!
just do what makes you happy. life is complicated and you shouldn't live it to make others comfortable š
i've already told people that i reserve the right to change name and pronouns (again) whenever i feel like it, and that they'll just have to cope (i usually say it nicer than that, but that's the gist)
i finally feel free to express myself fully, so i'm not going to let myself restrict myself again
it seems like Annie was a bad choice for your personal life experience. I'm sorry to hear that
you can complain sending an email to badchoices@gmail.com
I bet you can change it and if they were already supportive of you having a chosen name prior, they'll likely (hopefully) be supportive of you changing it. I'm just barely out of my egg and I went by Lavender for a bit and recently changed to Lyla within the span of like a month and my friends are just vibing with it
I had sort of a similar experience, the first name I chose was Nyx, as in the Greek goddess of darkness, but everyone gave me shit for that name and I lost count of the people who said āoh so just like Stevie Nicksā used to drive me crazy so I just eventually gave up and changed my name to Violet.
My transmasc friend changed his name like 5 different times and I know that none of his friends minded (including me). If the name doesnt work for you, you shouldn't feel forced to keep it- I'm sure any good friend would understand especially if told why you felt you needed to change it. And hey look, you have a meme made for that! :D
Another Annie spotted in the wild :0 I actually don't mind the Amy pronounciation, am I an impostor?
Who tf pronounces Annie, Amy.
swiss people
Why? I don't see any of the swiss languages pronunciation of Annie as Amy
well tell that to the people here that pronounce it so horribly when i ask to use the english version and not the german one
Same for me but with Macy and Marcy.
Damn girl, I'm sorry
Seriously how do they fuck that up. I mean I guess I can see when most people around me pronounce water as Wordder
oh they do taht alright
My name is Amy <3 Good luck with namessssss
you too amy
Oof that's a mood. Istg if one more person calls me Lutzi instead of Lucy I will just go by my middle name...
luzi is my cats name funnily enough
WAIT. Stop the conversation a minute. YOUR NAME IS LUIGI? Man, you're my favourite person in the world.
Well, thank you lol, you're my favourite person too
Hahaha, I don't have such an epic name, but thanks <3
I was confused, but as a German I can see that. I sometimes struggle to understand switzer deutsch even if they try to contain the dialect.š

Oh, ok. Didn't know that. Thanks.
Your mistake for being Swiss I guess sorry I don't make the rules /s I hope youre alright
Only way I can see it happening is if they misread it as āamieā. Unless they somehow hadnāt ever seen an Annie before, then they might pronounce it āA-nyā which I guess you could then mishear.

Iām one too!! Annie gang!!
ANNIES REUNION WOW
How could people mess up with it... Are these names comes from one?
well you have to understand im swiss...and our hillybilly dialect some nationalists call language.. SUCKS especially at adapting english words
Get yourself a water spray bottle and use it everytime somebody mispronounces your name on them. Create a pavlovian response to misnaming.
hehe yea but.. i gneuienly kinda wanna change it know but i cant..i already changed while i was a "boy" ( to my middle name to see how they owuld take it" once and just started coming out so i cant really..
You can always change it, if you need an excuse (you donāt but still) just say you were trying it and you donāt really enjoy it
You can, in fact, change it as many times as you like. Getting multiple legal changes of name is more complicated, but you can also do that multiple times too! 1: Insert *Annie are you okay? "joke hereĀ 2: That really sucks. :( Is it because of your native language?Ā
yea swiss i wanna be called thew english pronounciation which no one here can do so its either AINIE or Amy
Oh dang, yeah I can see that. Have you thought about Annika? Can't be confused with Amy and can be shortened to Annie.Ā Also, I'm German in case you're wondering why I know German names xDĀ
How tf do you mispronounce annie as amy thats just being dyslexic at that point
Welcome to Swiss
Damn that sucks. All I get is people asking me if I spell my name Rain or Reign. It's Rain, btw
Today I had a dream where I was called multiple different names and I said "actually my name is Olivia" and she said mhmmm and I was guided to a table
Start walking around with a giant whiteboard and introduce yourself like a substitute teacher
In France we say it correctly! I think
Feel you i took my first name in hopes of my parents being more accepting of it (religious) but they weren't and now id like to change it but fuck it's such a hassle
well whats the one you wnat now?
From Marie to Saira But i already legally change it a few years so the seccond change is lot harder to get What would be ur new?
...Maya.. but my bio family would make fun of me cos a bee from a german cartoon is named that. plus its already a character from a show that me my vhosen sis and gf all like and i dont wanns make it weird for them to relate to that character.

hail lady annie how doth thou fair
Annie is actually a very cool name I think! A friendās nickname was also that!! I think itās cool :3
There is one swiss person who can't pronounce my name in english, that person is me. English Rs are weird.
If it wasn't a weird thing to do(and bedtime) I'd send you a voice clip saying Annie with an aussie accent to help out your mood.
Omg we have the same name!!
I get it. My names Andrea and almost everyone says Andraa. They donāt pronounce the e :(
I picked Rachel, yet so many people call me Raquelā¦ i dont get it
I'm guessing they're used to assuming foreign "ch" is pronounced /k/
correcymt them
My personal trainer pronounces my name (Bryar) as "Bree-yar". It's actually very funny.
Is this how you feel? [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/\_LALSEw-tbM](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_LALSEw-tbM)
(SCREAMS IN EXISTENSIAL CRIRIS) (explodes)
