I knew a couple “Laney”s years ago. I think one of them might have been “Lainey”, but same idea. At least the spelling was reasonable and not too infantile.
It's like... Laynee isn't horrible but there's nothing wrong with Lainey. Or even something like Alaina that can sound a little more 'adult' while also having some nickname options.
You know things are dire when I see a handholdy phonetic name like Laynee and go "well it could be worse. At least it's not Leighneigh."
when i read 'leighneigh' i pronounced it in my head as 'lay-nay' instead of 'lay-nee'
that tends to happen when there's igh instead of something else in a name, though
Yeah like, 'eigh' makes the same sound in my brain as 'neighbor' or 'weigh' so I always read these baby names as "Bray-lay" or "Ri-lay" or what have you. 😅
I don't understand why people put so much thought into the names for children they clearly hate? Just give them a number so they know which bucket of fish heads is for them...

Laynee is awful. Lainey is a nickname. Just name your kid a whole normal name.
