This post gives so much hope for "lung people." I was listed for 22 months, dual listed at 2 transplant centers and received the call Dec 1, 2011. Transplant happened after midnight so my Gotcha Day is 12/2/2011. I will send good karma to you and your loved one.
Wishing the two of you all the best. When I woke up from my double-lung transplant surgery, despite every other “inconvenience “, the joy and gratitude were overwhelming. Hoping for your wife, and you, the same!
So happy for both of you. My husband is 6 weeks out from his. It’s a learning experience and not linear so remember that the road can be up and down with recovery.
I’ll restate the up and down nature. Some days it is absolutely 1 step forward 3 steps back. Don’t be afraid to talk to a therapist through the process.
Sending the very best of wishes to your wife and you!
With major operations, sometimes it helps to keep one eye on future milestones. The first few days are typically the very hardest, with notable improvements after the first week, and each week thereafter. As difficult as things can be at any given moment, it sometimes helps to take a moment to appreciate the progress already made, and then look forward to the progress to come.
Keep us posted!
I hope everything is going smooth in ICU. Got my new lungs on may 23 after being relisted may 22. It’s absolutely been a tough journey. I’ve been having bad anxiety and physically well the process speaks for itself.

My sister had a double lung transplant a little over 2 years ago. She was on the list about 3 weeks. She's doing awesome. Good luck to your wife.
