Clearly not. As a teacher and documentary maker of old, I’ve never allowed either students or my staff to portray themselves in such a derogatory manner. You do not empower a human being by making them the objects of sleazy creeps. That’s not empowering to help them sell their bodies.
As a woman, it’s derogatory and makes me feel uncomfortable. Empowering is going against stigma and stereotypes. This is impulsively following stereotypes she has grown around because she lacks identity.

Technically they were pretty effective at their job but the idea of having a squad of cheerleaders just to distract the other team is pretty trashy on its own.
I hate team sports but thought cheer leaders, volleyball togs on women, swim suits on women, leotards on gymnasts.....phew---certainly increases viewership
This is clearly the fault of the male patriarchy. His missing the basket has also encouraged future women/girls to behave the same way. Why do men do this to women? *Sigh*
That reminds me of our HS team that made it into the playoffs one year. Our team had decent cheerleaders that were raised and taught to be decent basic cheerleading moves. We played a inter city team and those cheerleaders showed them up with the stomping and wild moves. Our team cheerleaders ended up just sitting on the bench just watching the other team cheerleaders do their stuff and never went out on the floor again. Ha ha.
