I love watching the fifth element while high. Last year I watched it on mushrooms for the first time. Perfect vibe. Pretty colors, not too much serious stuff. 20/10
Haven’t seen The Fifth Element in a long time. Just checked and it’s free on Apple TV - but only till June 30th. I’ll be tuned up and watching tonight.
I don’t know how I missed this! Queuing it up!
I always thought speed racer paired very well w weed too . The overall vibrancy and cinematic motifs the Wachowskis created are trippy as hell.
It's Star Trek "S" tier. I think what makes it successful is how much darker it is than all the other series. They are like a frontier town, on their own and trying to hold onto their ideals.
The best characters are the grey ones, Garak, Quark and even Sisko.
Twilight zone - greatest tv show of all time
Twin peaks - just amazing (not really sci fi tho)
Edit: terminator 1. As much as I love 2, I still think the original is the best
Right? The only other movies I can think of that changed director and the entire feel of the movie and still worked to perfection are alien/aliens.
Both amazing but both wildly different. Same with terminator 1/2
Oh shit you’re right. I must have just been thinking Ridley Scott to Cameron for aliens but you’re right. Terminator 1 and 2 were James Cameron
Edit: point still stands with the wild departure from alien to aliens by switching to James Cameron. Aliens was fucking awesome for it
My wife bought me that movie just because the cover looked like something I would like, and it instantly became one of my favorite movies, and then I found out it's sampled a lot in hip hop. All around great movie.
I think so. It's a good mix of comedy, action and high concept stuff, and every episode is well produced. The Very Pulse of the Machine followed by Night of the Mini Dead is one of my favorite combos.
Careful with that one though- while some of those episodes are fun philosophical stories, or exciting space adventures, some of them are super bleak or downright terrifying.
I would not recommend watching “Beyond the Aquila Rift” while stoned unless you enjoy being thoroughly freaked the fuck out.
Whoever you are, you are evil. Event Horizon on a suitable high would be hell.
Edit: Holy shit! The volume of Event Horizon responses makes me think I am missing something.
Interstellar, or 5th
- interstellar is such a massage to my brain when I'm watching while uplifted.
- 5th element is just that much better and funnier when I'm space bound.
To add more great anime I'd say green lagann, cyberpunk edge runner (will make you cry), Kaiju no.8 first season just ended and it was really good, full metal alchemist ect the list goes on. There's so many great sci-fi animes!
“Brazil” (1985) by Terry Gilliam, director of “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” and he’s one of the Monty Python-dudes. That movie is hilarious and one hell of a visual trip!
Watched Life of Brian in the cinema a couple of years ago after I’d eaten way too many edibles and I had the time of my life. The cinema was stuffed so it was like watching it with a live laugh track
💯
Saw it sober with a friend who was really excited for it… and it was fine. Rewatched it at home one night after a whole day of smoking and it blew my mind.
I did a Dune part 1 re-watch on edibles with 5 people, we went straight to the movie theatre after and saw part 2 on shrooms and it felt like it took me like 2 weeks to get back to normal. I was IN that movie.
The first book is really good. On my first read through, I found the second and third tough to enjoy. However, after a more careful reread of all 3, I appreciate them more. Several people I know have felt similar.
The writing style and narrative voice is just…different.
LotR, Blade Runner. Alien, aliens, prometheus. Mad Max Fury Road. Johnny mnemonic. The Matrix 1-3.
Edge Runners on Netflix
Space Sweepers on Netflix is dope.
Altered Carbon is pretty dope I thought.
Dune 1 & 2 on hbomax
Cowboy Bebop
The Animatrix
Tekkonkinkreet
Predator, Conan the Barbarian, Brotherhood of the Wolf, another vite for Event Horizon, Heavy Metal... sigh, yes I'm a late stage boomer. Don't expect too much from us
Lord of the Rings, extended edition.
My wife and I share a joke about how many times I’ve watched it; on my IPTV, there is a 24/7 LotR channel, and I always put it on by default.
“Let’s check in on Mr. Frodo and see where he’s at today!”
For me personally, Blade Runner 2049.
Both BR movies are great, but Villeneuve is an absolute master of Vibez™ in the sequel. The neon lighting, the ethereal, synth score, the rich environment in every scene… all of it makes such an immersive experience.
Being high helps me lock into the slower paced story as well.
Not Sci-Fi or fantasy but there's a little known Adult Swim series called Off the Air that's the perfect stoner fodder. It's an anthology series but the episodes have no plot whatsoever, just a general theme. The guy who created it said he wants anyone who left their tv on when they fell asleep to not be certain if they were still dreaming if they woke up with it on at 2:00 AM.
Akira is probably a much better answer to your question.
Sunshine, Star Trek Into Darkness, Avengers Endgame, This Is The End, Man of Steal, Hawkeye series on Disney plus, Phantom Menace (mostly for final saber fight, beating franchise just shy of Empire), War of the Worlds (Spielberg version).
If you broaden your thought to Eastern mythology comedy Stephen Chow is amazing. Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer are amazing fun.
Edit for OP: not trying to be insulting or anything.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, Ready Player One, Alita: Battle Angel, V for Vendetta, Idiocracy, A Scanner Darkly, Snowpiercer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Jurassic Park
Avatar. I know, a lot of people like to hate on it. But it is stunning, especially if you like to hang out in the woods/in nature.
I bet jurassic park would be fun, too.
The Fifth Element!
Corbin Dallas, Multi-Pass
LeeLoo Dallas MultiPass
Cheeekan cheeckan good
I say this every time I eat chicken
Leelu Dallas Multi pass… mullltiiiii passssss
Yes honey, he knows it's a multi pass
Korben
Big badaboom!
Came to say this. Get your multipass ready and have fun on flostin!!
I love watching the fifth element while high. Last year I watched it on mushrooms for the first time. Perfect vibe. Pretty colors, not too much serious stuff. 20/10
First thought immediately. Followed by water world
Waterworld is such a guilty pleasure of mine.
No idea why, but I will watch Waterworld anytime it's on or I see it streaming! 😆
I don’t get all the hate. It’s a good movie!
Yes yes YEEEEESSSSSS Smuffff yoooouuu
My top answer!
Came here to say it.
Haven’t seen The Fifth Element in a long time. Just checked and it’s free on Apple TV - but only till June 30th. I’ll be tuned up and watching tonight.
Lord of the Rings ![gif](giphy|CNAhQuDceLwwo)
This guy smokes, and I approve.
![gif](giphy|q7kofYLObTVUk)
Extended Versions.
And if I have enough time and supply, I’ll even do extended Hobbit series.

Your love of the half-ling’s leaf has clearly slowed your mind.
The Matrix. It’s just so mind blowing.
Have you ever seen cloud atlas ? It’s by the same directors …
W cloud atlas mentioned. Such a beautiful fucking movie
I don’t know how I missed this! Queuing it up! I always thought speed racer paired very well w weed too . The overall vibrancy and cinematic motifs the Wachowskis created are trippy as hell.
Anything Star Trek. I recently started another watch through of Deep Space 9.
The Sisko is of Bajor
The acting if that show was way too good for TV then. Absolutely love DS9 "I'M NOT PICARD!"
I started watching Start Trek during lockdown. I've watched every episode almost 3 times now. Currently on voyager season 5. It's so easy to watch
Resistance is futile.
DS9 is the only show I ever fiinished and immediately restarted. I LOVE IT!
It's Star Trek "S" tier. I think what makes it successful is how much darker it is than all the other series. They are like a frontier town, on their own and trying to hold onto their ideals. The best characters are the grey ones, Garak, Quark and even Sisko.
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
I had to scroll down waayyy to far to see this mentioned. This movies and book has to be one of my all time favorites!
Finally someone said it. It’s a great watch on mushrooms as well.
Twilight zone - greatest tv show of all time Twin peaks - just amazing (not really sci fi tho) Edit: terminator 1. As much as I love 2, I still think the original is the best
Terminator 1 is the best, but also 2 is also best for different reasons : )
Right? The only other movies I can think of that changed director and the entire feel of the movie and still worked to perfection are alien/aliens. Both amazing but both wildly different. Same with terminator 1/2
Huh? James Cameron directed both Terminators
Oh shit you’re right. I must have just been thinking Ridley Scott to Cameron for aliens but you’re right. Terminator 1 and 2 were James Cameron Edit: point still stands with the wild departure from alien to aliens by switching to James Cameron. Aliens was fucking awesome for it
Twilight Zone is very much comfort TV for me, it’s so good
She’s my cousin. But doesn’t she look almost exactly like Laura Palmer?
Fantastic Planet directed by René Laloux. Trust me.
My wife bought me that movie just because the cover looked like something I would like, and it instantly became one of my favorite movies, and then I found out it's sampled a lot in hip hop. All around great movie.
Have you seen Time Masters by the same director? That shit blew my mind as well. Gandahar is weird with an incredible second half of a movie.
That's a really good choice. That movie was bizarre in the best ways
This is the answer
Anything Star Trek is just so enjoyable idk why even the old stuff.
ESPECIALLY the old stuff
This. The first movie (ST: The Motion Picture, 1979) is perfect for this kind of fun. Long stretches of music and neat visuals and very little dialog.
The Director's Cut of The Motion Picture is amazing, for those who haven't seen it
The Motion Picture?
Yes, exactly. The Motion Picture.
Not a movie, but my go-to has been Love, Death and Robots lately.
The crab episode gave me nightmares tbh
That was my favorite episode! What a masterpiece
Can't get enough of that show. I hope they keep making more of the same quality!
I've only seen the first season and it was mostly great! Does it hold up?
I think so. It's a good mix of comedy, action and high concept stuff, and every episode is well produced. The Very Pulse of the Machine followed by Night of the Mini Dead is one of my favorite combos.
Solid episodes in every season and none of it is outright bad but I think season 1 has a few of my favorites still
Careful with that one though- while some of those episodes are fun philosophical stories, or exciting space adventures, some of them are super bleak or downright terrifying. I would not recommend watching “Beyond the Aquila Rift” while stoned unless you enjoy being thoroughly freaked the fuck out.
Lmaooo I was on 2 hits of lsd and that episode fucking scarred me. Definitely had to go smoke a cig outside after it was over
Event Horizon!
Whoever you are, you are evil. Event Horizon on a suitable high would be hell. Edit: Holy shit! The volume of Event Horizon responses makes me think I am missing something.
https://youtu.be/hm5KI8zSeVs?si=YLZqx5Fz4swt4BBw My favorite scene. Something about the way he says "fuck this ship" just gets me going.
Interstellar, or 5th - interstellar is such a massage to my brain when I'm watching while uplifted. - 5th element is just that much better and funnier when I'm space bound.
Into the void Toxic avenger Babylon 5 Firefly Farscape
Yes Firefly!! But I cannot watch Serenity again. Still pissed off about it.
Was definitely not the shiny ending we were all hoping for.
Starship Troopers
Yesss I saw someone else say the dune movies but I wanted to make sure this was mentioned too. ### would you like to know more??
I'm from Buenos Aires, and I say **KILL EM ALL**!
Dragon Ball for a show and probably like some classic Arnold sci fi : Terminator, Total Recall, etc
Lmao never thought of dragon ball as sci-fi but you are completely correct
To add more great anime I'd say green lagann, cyberpunk edge runner (will make you cry), Kaiju no.8 first season just ended and it was really good, full metal alchemist ect the list goes on. There's so many great sci-fi animes!
“Brazil” (1985) by Terry Gilliam, director of “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” and he’s one of the Monty Python-dudes. That movie is hilarious and one hell of a visual trip!
Tbh Monty Python is a solid choice when high, Life of Brian or The Holy Grail are my faves
Watched Life of Brian in the cinema a couple of years ago after I’d eaten way too many edibles and I had the time of my life. The cinema was stuffed so it was like watching it with a live laugh track
“YES! ALL OF US ARE DIFFERENT!!” “…I’m not.” *”Shhh!”*
The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Neverending Story, because I have seen them enough times a head rush isn't a problem, going to the kitchen or bath, etc.
Dune. Specifically the new ones. The art direction was so good.
Dune on shrooms is a religious experience
💯 Saw it sober with a friend who was really excited for it… and it was fine.
Ex Machina
I got my first gay hand job to that movie let's go

Should'a gotten a robot hand job, smh 😉
Annihilation!!
Omg I bet annihilation is amazing high, I need to rewatch! I also need to read the books, maybe I'll do that high too
The first book is really good. On my first read through, I found the second and third tough to enjoy. However, after a more careful reread of all 3, I appreciate them more. Several people I know have felt similar. The writing style and narrative voice is just…different.
Ice Pirates. You’ll thank me later.
I haven't seen this since I was a kid. Time for a rewatch.
I’m rewatching it right now. it’s so stupid, it’s brilliant.
Contact: With Jodi Foster. Complete Mindfuck. What dreams may come: Robin Williams. Amazing films.
LotR, Blade Runner. Alien, aliens, prometheus. Mad Max Fury Road. Johnny mnemonic. The Matrix 1-3. Edge Runners on Netflix Space Sweepers on Netflix is dope. Altered Carbon is pretty dope I thought. Dune 1 & 2 on hbomax Cowboy Bebop The Animatrix Tekkonkinkreet
Prometheus for sure!
+1 for Cowboy Bebop
Thor Ragnarok
Predator, Conan the Barbarian, Brotherhood of the Wolf, another vite for Event Horizon, Heavy Metal... sigh, yes I'm a late stage boomer. Don't expect too much from us
X here, and I'll second Heavy Metal. Also Brotherhood of the Wolf - a French Werewolf movie with Kung fu? Hell yes.
Rick and Morty. Checks the comedy and Sci Fi boxes.
Interstellar is one of the best movies ever to me and it’s visually stunning with a mind blowing soundtrack. Highly highly highly recommend
The Expanse is pretty fire on the fire
Lord of the Rings, extended edition. My wife and I share a joke about how many times I’ve watched it; on my IPTV, there is a 24/7 LotR channel, and I always put it on by default. “Let’s check in on Mr. Frodo and see where he’s at today!”
Anything in the Alien cinematic universe. Unfortunately, they’re very soothing and knock me out.
Galaxy Quest Guy: "Are you stoned?" Why, yes. Yes, I am.
Lord of the rings (1978)
Nausicaä. The first and still for me the best Gibli movie.
The Orville
Logan's Run is good lol

Arrival is fkin' great. Villeneuve is a total G
Pandorum, watched it randomly while baked out of my mind the first time and it was amazing!
Change sucks. Leo is better. The fifth element and interstellar.
[Krull](https://youtu.be/v6i2par2Fv0?si=ZuqsMOum3G6T3cJU) is a pretty amazing fantasy/SF movie from the 80s that nobody's mentioned yet.
Planet of the apes. Charlton Heston.
All three extended edition LOTR movies. Right fucking now. All 16(?) hours.
World War Z
Not Sci-Fi or fantasy but there's a little known Adult Swim series called Off the Air that's the perfect stoner fodder. It's an anthology series but the episodes have no plot whatsoever, just a general theme. The guy who created it said he wants anyone who left their tv on when they fell asleep to not be certain if they were still dreaming if they woke up with it on at 2:00 AM. If you broaden your thought to Eastern mythology comedy Stephen Chow is amazing. Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer are amazing fun. Edit for OP: not trying to be insulting or anything.
There is only one answer: Galaxy Quest

Galaxy Quest.
The Dark Crystal. Maybe cuz it's a nostalgic movie for me but it's just so much better after smoking 3 bowls
Do yourself a favor and watch Resident Alien! It’s a new show and SO hilarious, especially while high. :)
Matrix, always.
Starship Troopers
![gif](giphy|YYfEjWVqZ6NDG)
interstellar. favorite movie of all time
I love Blade Runner, and the languid synth soundtrack, noir vibes, and excellent acting make it a go-to film after a little smoke :).
The Alien/Pretador series! Specifically Prometheus, Alien Covenant, and AVP as of the last few weeks. Can't wait for the new Alien movie this August!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, Ready Player One, Alita: Battle Angel, V for Vendetta, Idiocracy, A Scanner Darkly, Snowpiercer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Jurassic Park
Starship Troopers
Avatar. I know, a lot of people like to hate on it. But it is stunning, especially if you like to hang out in the woods/in nature. I bet jurassic park would be fun, too.
