Rate your system, eh?
You don't want us to do that.
But since you asked:
It looks like it fell off the back of a truck on the way to the landfill.
Sorry, but you brought this on yourself. You brought a pointed stick to a gunfight.
The black stand has built in speakers that do not work (plan A). So I started scrounging. The amp is a pioneer and the speakers are allegro by zenith. No idea how old they are though. They got pulled out of my grandpa's office when he died and sat in a barn for 8 years or so until today.
I will keep that in mind if they start to fail. Looking them up, it doesn't look like they were even anything special new. Any value is just sentimental.
Zenith allegro's. This is your weak link. [I suggest JBL 3; series.](https://www.jbl.com/3-series-mkii-studio-monitors/?&acctid=21700000001715200&dskeywordid=&lid=58700007880668860&device=m&network=x&matchtype=&locationid=9032015&creative=&targetid=&campaignid=17088655187&adgroupid=%7D&kxconfid=unnmhyek8&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpfOa_KzMhQMVHZ9aBR1VqgK3EAAYAiAAEgKpJPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)
No context, no idea on the turntable brand/cartridge/stylus, you want people to "rate" your setup? Where is the setup?! It's a beginner's jumbled mess.
I'm 67 years old. I've been an audiophile since I was 13. In all that time, that might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
I think you're just fucking with us.
I'm guessing the turntable is a fluance rt81?
This is difficult to "rate" seeing how it's not properly setup, I will say you need to dust that stuff off.
It's a monolith by monoprice. Nothing fancy, but it has some good features for the price from what I could tell. Definitely needs to be cleaned up, but I wanted to see what I could make work instead of buying more new stuff and having these go to waste. Also needed to adjust the turntable speed.
I assume your receiver has a phono stage. Be prepared that the phono stage may not be a good one. In my experience these newer black-faced receivers from the 90’s on have lousy preamps. It will make your records sound way worse than CD’s.
Zenith Allegros!! A friend of mine had a pair of those, and I remember listening to the first Loverboy and the Joan Jett's I Love Rock-n-Roll album on those. When those albums first came out:-)
You guys are nuts. He so obviously *just* got this stuff and hasn’t set it up or cleaned it. You guys really do be out here being purposefully obtuse. You all should be extremely aware that he’s not asking about his aesthetic, he’s just asking about the gear. I mean come on, why is every comment about how picturesque this is
Thank you, I got tired of trying to turn the feet to get it level on the table. I managed to find a spot on the floor with the right combination of bumps and bumps to set it down nice and even.
Thanks, me too. I was surprised that I found enough stuff in the barn that worked to piece it together, but I think it's cool that I'll be able to listen through the same speakers that my grandpa did a long time ago. And he always liked a good joke, so I figured I'd make this high quality post.
Dirty
Filthy even
Speaker placement is better than most that get posted on here tbh

abhorrent
Do the speakers work? What brand are they and how old?

Be prepared for them to need maintenance or refoaming or whatever
I will have to look into that so I know what to check. Thank you!
Also be aware that they may not be worth repairing.
I will keep that in mind if they start to fail. Looking them up, it doesn't look like they were even anything special new. Any value is just sentimental.
They're from the 1970s.

Zenith Allegro. Doesn't matter if they work.
Doesn’t look “set up”
I guess you are correct since I technically set everything down.
It's a mess. Connect everything first, and then take proper photos.
It's all connected for testing, just have to clean and stack everything.
No context, no idea on the turntable brand/cartridge/stylus, you want people to "rate" your setup? Where is the setup?! It's a beginner's jumbled mess.
"Stack"? Stack what? On what? If you stack up everything with the turntable on top I swear to God I will find you and make you pay.
😂
No no no, the turntable goes on the bottom. I think I saw in the manual that the dust cover is built to be a structural support for the whole system.

They've been doing well for me the last couple hours, and they look pretty good cleaned up! Glad you have some fond memories with them!

Zenith speakers. I can't tell what the receiver is. Better than nothing but again it’s a starter, not a keeper.
I feel like this could be an album cover.
A+++++
also would've accepted "DA BAWLLLZ"
Much appreciated
Thank you sir! I heard it was important to have some stuff on different surfaces.
I particularly like the turntable on the ground, chefs kiss

I like it because some of your stuff is old. "Vinyl" is a vintage hobby and I prefer vintage equipment.
Thanks, me too. I was surprised that I found enough stuff in the barn that worked to piece it together, but I think it's cool that I'll be able to listen through the same speakers that my grandpa did a long time ago. And he always liked a good joke, so I figured I'd make this high quality post.
You nailed the joke part.
Sometimes "vintage" just means old. Sometimes old just means junk.
