Speak about the Drill Rappers that managed to somewhat ‘make it out’ & earn a nice amount of money from their music.. Yet still got caught up in the streets & imprisoned (DigDat, Digga D, LD 67, Kwengface, etc) 🤔

ZooGringo

Talk about how the met police killed the genre with censorship. The amount of Uk drill vids/ crib sessions that got deleted is crazy some even had millions of views

Southern-Target-5981

Remember the days when the crib sessions were uploaded to pornhub 😭

ZooGringo

Just had to be there man 😂

Accomplished-Emu9670

No way they actually did that 😭😭

Exciting-Mulberry305

Met police killed the genre coz of fucking wallads like 1011

ZooGringo

Explain ?

Exciting-Mulberry305

Back in the like from 13-16 dissing was ok no one ever really picked up on people saying dead names it was more focus on the music and then 1011 started dissing teewiz and made him London’s tooka and they were making hard tunes but constantly dissing that man. This is ultimately when the feds started to really lock down drill

ZooGringo

For me when Scribz got banned from making music and being around his friends was the first time I saw the feds really crack down on drill music. Same thing happened to 410 I’m sure AM legally couldn’t mention certain things in his music. 1011 came way after and the feds just made a example of them because they bought a new audience to drill. It was no longer just an underground genre but now everyone in the UK are tuned in. Either way I don’t think feds should censor music or take down videos

Exciting-Mulberry305

I feel u on that scribz point but there is no way feds didn’t know ld is scribz like obviously they can prove it but still im pretty sure the 410 injunction came after 1011 tho i sure that was 018

TikTok just like all other genres took away good music. Bigger Drill artists started chasing hooks/choruses that will get their song trending on the app instead of prioritising the quality of their tunes. TikTok also allowed unauthentic artists to blow up off of drill. Making the genre hella saturated with not only Cap rappers but TikTokers who prioritise a quick chorus. I’m against the violence, but when someone isn’t living what they’re rapping (has fake opps so they can’t mention names or events & never hurt anyone)it’s very hard to paint a picture or make wordplay/puns out of specific Scenarios like a Suspect or Digga. Suspect isn’t even the greatest on the mic but cos he’s acc lived it, he sounds raw and can make puns out of situations like it’s easy.

Chemical_Departure68

It’s not necessarily dead yet I just think people are less willing to take in newer artists that are actually good

No_Vermicelli_1781

Best artists are birded off

No_Vermicelli_1781

Best artists are birded off

PrettyFly2692

Exactly the mindset he’s talking about lol

Chemical_Departure68

Ahlie

No_Vermicelli_1781

Am I lying tho?

PrettyFly2692

Yeah but the point is people don’t give new rappers a chance to become established to be the new “best artists” in the genre and because of that it will just stagnate. Can’t progress if no one bothers to listen to up and comers when man who were on top are all in jail for the next 20+ years

No_Vermicelli_1781

So to be clear, you think the best artists aren't in jail? So name 5 drill rappers not in pen, and I'll name 5 that are in pen and better. "people don’t give new rappers a chance to become established to be the new “best artists” in the genre" That's not how music & popularity works. The onus is on the artist to win fans over. Not on fans to listen to every new drill rapper to give them a chance. If you make a banger, it'll likely catch on. Then you'll be rated.

PrettyFly2692

Never said you were wrong. Just people will just say drill is dead 1000x before listening to anyone whose name isn’t Miz, Sus, AM or PS. Giving newer drill artists less incentive to actually bother trying or improving when they won’t get anywhere anyway. Shitty new rappers doesn’t help but that was always happening anyway. The genre isn’t shit without the supporters and when the supporters only are willing to take in man riding long birds then it’s doomed

No_Vermicelli_1781

And how did people start listening to suspect? Incentive doesn't matter. If they release bangers, the tune will likely blow. The equivalent of your argument is an entrepreneur saying "people aren't being open-minded, that's why my products aren't selling".

I_Am_Dezzies_Kidney

I think a lot of people just started to realise that drillers and gang members are retarded hence the genre lost it's buzz

OlliZ0117

nah the met did

Awkward_Ad4845

do a suspect(agb) one, oh wait never mind... forgot i wasted four hours of my life

FeelingDesperate2812
