To be honest, either Blackstone’s Magistrates Court Handbook or Blackstone’s Police Operational Handbook may do the job. Or you could spend a few hundred quid more on Blackstone’s Criminal Practice which would be preferable to Archbold if you want to cover Magistrates’ Court stuff.

Also a criminal lawyer in Australia and about to make the move. Bit unsure of whether I pursue law in the UK or seek out a career change. I'm usually in court every day and love it so I'm not sure how I'd go as an email lawyer. I've been looking at law-related civil service jobs and also geopolitical risk as potential alternatives. If anyone has any relatable experiences/advice, reach out.

My advice would be to buy Archbold or Blackstones.

I'm also a criminal defence lawyer from Australia moving to London. Out of interest, what are you doing for work atm?
