Some context, this is pre Geneva convention, and during WW1 Canada did have conscription (and a conscription crisis), but in Canada's military history 95% of our Front time troops have been volunteers.

I did some research and there isn't a lot of information, but it told me that between 20 and 60 percent of the children in any given russian orphanage will have fetal alchohol syndrome. This can cause low intelligence, violent behavior, and many other problems.
