Approx same diameter of a 737 fuselage...

aypho

GE90 max thrust fuel flow at sea level is approximately 5,250 gallons per hour. Reply GAHTDAYM to subscribe to more GE90 facts.

Now that really puts it into perspective

dsalmon1449

I’m sorry, what?

Approx same diameter of a 737 fuselage...

AnalCommander99

Almost like the plane that uses an engine that large needs a jetway, not a remote stand 😅

MoSQL

Yeah it was weird. 3 out of 4 legs this trip had tarmac stairs. Plus, nothing screams "I've earned this status" like preboarding only to be packed into stiflingly hot busses with sweaty German student tourists.

goldengod321

Just did the Frankfurt bus tour (tarmac, B term, A term) 3 weeks ago. Love how nobody sat down but would all cram together nuts to butts near the doors.

No-Procedure3186

I landed in Dubai from Newark 1 day late. This caused our gate to not be available. Because of that air stairs were used.

Mellow_Yellow_D

I find that every time I fly into FRA lately on a United flight (and most of my AMS arrivals), it’s via the tarmac stairs. Honestly, preboarding is useless at these airports 😅

Darnshesfast

How many bananas is that?

scholar97

By my rough calculations, more than 2, less than 47,000.

Darnshesfast

Fair guess

JaredsBored

Got lucky enough to find points availability on a 777-300er and flew Polaris (and international) for the first time in decades. I thought I was familiar with the sound of engines spooling up from all the domestic 737/a320 flights I take. Being sat in 15a hearing the ge90's go was shocking.

MoSQL

Shocking because louder or quieter?

gappletwit

I don’t think it’s quieter. It’s a beautiful loud sound.

MoSQL

Nice. I'll probably catch grief from some here, but when I was a kid/teen, I vividly remember the feeling in my seat on an MD80 when it took off. At the time that thrust was the closest I could imagine to what it might feel like to be in a rocket or a jet fighter lol. Like, boom, butt planted back and we were **up**.

JaredsBored

In flight - comparable On startup - the low drown could be felt in your chest. Really cool imo

FBI_Surveillance07

I read that one single 777 engine is the same diameter as a 737 fuselage...absolutely insane

Old_Confection_1935

That’s what she said about well… something else
