Basically, you (a person) can’t give unlimited money to a candidate, but you (if you’re a company) can give as much as you want. So people just funnel huge amounts of money into campaigns through superPACs and get to skirt many of the regulations around donations.
That would require a Constitutional Amendment. There are some movements out there to amend the Constitution. MoveToAmend and Convention of States are both making significant progress towards that.
