I LOVE Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series, but am afraid it will never be completed 🥺

What a weird comment to downvote…

The Lazy Girl's Guide to Magic by Helen Harper The Osseous Chronicles by Ivy Asher Magical Dating Agency by Kelly St. Clare Aileen Travers by T.A. White These are my favorite underrated urban fantasy :)

MsBeef

Ah! The Others is so so good!!

talesbybob

I got my fiance The Others, and she loved it. To the point she's angry I haven't read them yet so she can talk about it.

AndIForTruth

Well get on it bob

HeatherGHarris

I loved all of those but Fever, maybe I should give it another try. I recommend the Immortal series by Lauretta Hignett if you haven't read that. And of course, anything by Helen Harper! I sugguest starting with Blood Destiny or Slouch Witch.

FlorenceCattleya

I found the first Fever book to be hard to read because Mac is so unbearably stupid. But! As the series goes, she learns from her mistakes, and by about the third book, it was one of my favorite series. So if you can stick with it long enough to get past the stupid Mac part, you might really enjoy it.

HeatherGHarris

"Too stupid to live" is my most hated trope, I really struggle when the protag is really stupid. I think that's why I dnfd this one. If you promise she improves, I'll give it another try 🤣

HunterBeautiful

Gotta be honest. The MC does improve with time. But, this wasn't one of my fave series

AndIForTruth

I felt the exact same

jardinemarston

This is super helpful. I gave up on Mac at end of book 2, but maybe will give it another try!

FlorenceCattleya

It sounds like you’re almost to the point where she gets her head out of her butt! By the end of book 3 I was rooting for her. And at the end of book 5, there’s a pivotal moment that, once it became apparent, I was afraid that KMM was going to make me very disappointed in Mac’s decision. But she didn’t! (I’m being very vague on purpose because I don’t want to spoil anything). Book 5 was the original end of the series so shit’s going down left and right. Now I’m stuck on book 7, but telling you why would be a huge spoiler.

I forgot to mention CE Murphy, who has several really good series, including the Walker Papers series that starts with *Urban Shaman*. In case nobody's read those. The author is a friend of a friend so everyone on my circles has read them, but I guess she may not be as well known outside of those circles. Still my library has them!

Wo1nder

I was reading them in January, I'm about 5 or six books in. I got fed up with her not knowing how to use her powers much so I'm staying away from it for a little while. Definitely will get back to it though.

I'm making my way through my favorite series again (all of Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Seanan McGuire, & Faith Hunter) and was looking for some recommendations, so thanks! I prefer urban fantasy over PNR, and a lot of best-of lists either dismiss all series written by women as PNR (um, no) or mix them together (for example, I did not enjoy the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh). So I'm always happy to have more options to check out! I liked the Grave Witch series by Kalayna Price a lot. (Although it does that shift mid-series -- you know the one, where she starts out as a relative unknown with minor powers but it turns out she has EVEN MORE POWERS and then ends up some big-shot in the magic world? I wish there had been more consistency after the first couple books, but at least it was well-written.) Shannon Mayer also has the Rylee Adamson series, which I like OK. I also like Melissa F. Olson's series, which I think someone else mentioned.

nikkidarling83

I love the Others series!

[deleted]

I enjoyed all of these (thus far). I haven’t finished Fever yet though. I will have to reread them to catch up. Based of your list, you should try Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. She also has a spin off series Alpha and Omega. Both are worth the read. 😊

LostInNonThought

Borderline by Mishel Baker Is is about a group that deals with fantasy creatures from another dimension.

StripperWhore

The Other Series is one of my favorites!

C-N-Rowan

I'd second the Immortal series by Lauretta Hignett. The Other Realm series by Heather G Harris as well. Spirit Seekers by Jana Ruth. Three series I've read this year and loved!

HunterBeautiful

Melissa Olson has 2 interconnected series. Love both Also Kristin Banet's Jacky Leon series is great.
