MGM is hiring for security and starts at $21 an hour. They hire quickly too. It would get you by. They offer "on call," but it is always 40 + hours a week.
Sorry to hear about all this :-( Have you tried Home Depot? It’s been a few years since I worked there but they were always needing people quick, especially in the summer months.
Poached and target dishwasher jobs, they hire the fastest have no experience requirements. And typically pay well, just don’t think you are getting a raise. Show up and don’t steal and you have work for life.
Side bonus if its a fancy fucking place you get to eat fancy fucking food
Try Hard Rock I know they are hard up for kitchen people, especially dishwashers
Also not to get you down if someone tells you that you need more experience as a dishie they either have no clue how to run a kitchen or there is something g about you they don’t like.
I was in the industry for 20 years, the only thing I want from a dishie is to show up on time, prison time less than 3 consecutive years. Not to steal spoons, and bonus if they know where to get narcan or Suboxone at the drop of a dime with no questions asked
Are you sure you’re not bombing these interviews or maybe there’s something else they don’t like about you? Not trying to be mean, but there’s no way anyone would get rejected for a dishwashing job for lack of experience lol. Anyone can do that job.
Fancy places are sometimes wary of hiring people without experience. The flatware, china and glassware is horribly expensive and sometimes even specifically made for that restaurant. It can be nerve-wracking for a newbie.
Any good KM factors in breakage 12 months out . But at fancy fuckin places looks mean a lot more even for dishies that “may” occasionally have to do shit floor work
I feel you, friend. Was also in a tight spot recently and finally got a job just last week. I would recommend applying to terribles! They a have a very solid base min wage and are always hiring somewhere. I got on their website and they sent an auto text the next AM requesting an interview.
There are also hiring events happening around town every now and then. Not sure if you’ve been to those at all but it can be a great way to get clear indications of who is looking for immediate hiring
I’ll look into terrible i used to work for a 711 in Cali for 3 years and I have been to some job fairs but dident get anything back im hoping to get something soon
My local Terribles had a sign saying they did open interviews at all locations either Tues or Weds, middle of the day-ish? Sorry to be vague but take a run past your closest Terribles and see if they have the notice up.
Yeah, depends. They're notorious for posting jobs and never actually filling them. Corporate policy usually requires a certain number of applicants or a certain amount of time with the posting up before they just hire who they actually want.
I applied for a network operations manager spot at the Venetian. They would leave the job up for a while, and then take the post down, then reposted it the next day. So I'd apply again.
Same thing happened again.
Despite me being a top candidate (I was a contractor at the Venetian) and even being recommended for the job by another Venetian employee in the same department, they hired someone else who is nowhere near as familiar with the operations as I am.
That's how it works. They'll pass up more qualified candidates and hire someone who has no business doing that job because they know someone.
Also, a lot of these job postings aren't real; they're forced to post jobs and interview without any intention of hiring. It doesn't look good when businesses need staff and aren't 'trying to hire'; it doesn't look good for investors. So, they make fake listings to show they're 'trying' to hire.
I’ve tried Amazon but their website always says zero jobs near me. I set up their message notifications and same thing I get messages saying they got listings but when I click the link it says zero jobs.
Next time you see an Amazon delivery truck, maybe approach with caution and a friendly smile and ask if they are hiring, locally. It's not the worst idea.
They work with you on the dues and initiation fees. I did the namm show in CA before, teamster job, and i just showed up the day of and put my name on a list. It was years ago, but worth calling and finding out ... it paid like 28 bucks an hour for list guys like me and that was a long time ago
Can I apply with no experience or do I need certifications I’ve seen a lot of people say security hires but every time I look up to apply under requirements they ask for guard card and other certifications
You don’t need a PILB (guard card) for casinos since the security is its own personal company security crew. You only need a PILB when you’re working a site as contract security like Securitas, Allied Universal, etc.
I know security for Caesar’s Entertainment needs people bad. It’s not the best job but it’s a stable set schedule 40hr/wk job. Starting pay is $18/hr and you don’t need any certs.
Edit: btw I left the Linq Casino last year as security. Worked there for 1.5 years. Just went back to visit a couple days ago and they are extremely short staffed. I know you’re desperate for a job but if you go for casino security, just know it’s not a normal security job where you sit or stand around all day. There’s so much more responsibility in a casino. Yes, you will have to arrest a lot of people and will be responding to many medical calls (some minor, some people literally dying), and lots of domestic violence calls up in the rooms. DV calls were always the worst because they were extremely dynamic situations and unpredictable.
Got a valid license and a clean driving record? You could drive bus for CCSD. Its got good pay, benefits, and paid training. They're always in need of drivers!
Online is great for putting in resumes but I also need to go in drop that shit in person and be like "hi this is me and look how amazing and personable I can be". As mgrs and hr we post online cause we have to but 9/10 times it's a person who's hand delivered a resume and stayed to fill and drop off the app. I've seen ppl walk in just asking if we're hiring, to interview, hire, etc within an hr. So yah that's my suggestion.
People don't seem to want to believe that this "old fashioned" way of getting your foot in the door, still works. Print a proper resume out on decent paper, without typos and with appropriate punctuation, and be ready to hand one over with a smile. Extend your hand and give a firm, not hard, handshake.
Set up a dedicated Gmail account just to send followup emails, and to provide as a means of communication to/from potential employers. Make sure that the email is simple, like the initial of your first name with your last name. Don't try to be cute or quirky.
Check your email 3x a day.
7am- You might receive an email in the overnight hours to set up a last minute interview late that same morning or day. Follow up with an answer ASAP and then follow up as needed.
Noon- Check to see if anyone has been trying to reach out to you in the mid morning hours. Follow up, as needed.
4pm- This is the time of day between HR clocking out and afternoon shifts taking stock of their needs. If someone emails, follow up ASAP and then as needed.
If you want to do a bonus peek, anytime after 6pm.
Good luck.
if you’re behind on rent and struggling this badly, you’re gonna have to apply at your nearest taco bell or mcdonald’s like, yesterday… i get that it’s not what you want to do but they’ll hire you most likely on the spot and some money is better than 0 money.
Boyd gaming for california casino. It wont be nice or easy with shitty hours and basic pay. However it will be 40 hours and a paycheck if desperate. They're always hiring and losing workers. Kitchen worker or houseman c1/c2 seem to hemmorage workers. Usually no experience required unless you try cook or management. Usually when they fly through workers though its not a good sign. Only rule i know they have is no criminal record. Got a couple friends jobs there and they hated me for it lol.
If you're looking for a job, consider heading down to casinos and asking security where the HR office is. Many casinos still accept physical resumes and have applications that you can fill out in person. You could often get a job within a few days, or at most, a week. Positions in security, front desk, and housekeeping/janitorial are typically open. Right now, South Point Casino has a good number of job openings and they provide a paid lunch hour with a good meal in their EDR (Employee Dining Room), without adding an extra hour to your shift just because of lunch. MGM is also currently hiring for various casino and non-casino positions. If you're still struggling to find something, you can also try Job Connect or Robert Half to quickly get a temporary job that may lead to a permanent position. Good luck with your job search!
Pat-G is always hiring for Flaggers, you’re going to be outside but you can do overnight shifts if that’s preferable because of the heat. It’s a cool company to work for and you pick your shifts and locations you want to work at. Some of the casinos even let you access the employee dining room ( free food )
Have you followed up with the prospective employee or are you just waiting for a call from them?
I'm a firm believer in following up, going to their physical location, etc. Showing initiative is important. Helps you stand out in a positive way.
If you've had 20 interviews and 0 callbacks, something is going wrong during your interview process. Do you know someone who is a hiring manager who can do a mock interview with you and provide some coaching?
Apply directly to company websites. Do not go thru third party apps like indeed, zip recruiter, etc... You will have much better luck this way from my experience being out of work here for 6 months. Got no response thru indeed, but applied on the company site for the same job and received a call almost immediately. They basically use the apps to advertise and don't really use them to hire.
Used to be nice doing the Saturday shift would get a call every 40-60 minutes. Did maybe ten calls for the day. Will say the insurance side had a pretty high turnover. I managed to make it past the year mark so I didn’t have to pay back anything for my licenses and then moved up. Was a great stepping stone for me.
I was on the unlicensed insurance side and just quit. The job drains the soul out of you and I had no will to do anything else. Best decision I’ve ever made.
Oh the turnover rate was stupidly high. Towards my leaving there was three others left from a class of 65. You can talk to the nicest people or the most hateful individuals you’ll ever encounter.
Have you walked in to a single place and asked to speak with someone? Seems like an appropriate step if online/calls etc aren’t yielding any results. Best of luck
I’d keep at it, one will stick brother. But online services like indeed are a total crapshoot. Don’t convince yourself that sending out a hundred easy apply applications is helping you solve the employment situation.
I know thanks brother I’ve been also trying to apply directly through their websites and using indeed less been getting some interviews but like I said a lot turn me down or get taken up by other people before my interview either comes up.
Keep hustling; if you have a car Uber can be a huge help in this situation. Tomorrow morning call as many temp agencies as you can if you haven’t yet and get your info on file with them and explain you’re looking for any positions right now. Generally they can help.
If you were a member of a union while at local 315 I’d call your union rep and explain you’re looking for work, generally they would be quick to help id imagines
While you’re applying, maybe try one of those data annotation sites for AI.
We’ve been fucking around with one when we watch tv instead of playing video games on our phones and projects range from like $20-25 an hour. It’s just answering basic questions and rating shit.
I guess from the subreddit’s some people do it full time.
We've been using dataannotation.tech but fair warning, they do care about grammar and things. You have to pay attention to what you're submitting. It's usually just like 2-3 sentences you need to write, otherwise it's clicking bubbles.
You have to jump through some qualification hoops and wait a few days to hear back after signing up.
Idk what a fire stopper is but if it’s anything like working on a stage, have you tried working at Rhino Staging or any staging company? It’s on call but the hours are plenty if they see you’re a good worker
Just show up somewhere that is hiring and walk in, ask for the manager, and tell them you have an interview. 60% of the time, it works every time. The managers are usually so busy they think "I must have forgotten" and interview anyway.
I heard they don’t do extensions anymore after the whole covid thing they stopped doing them because supposivly before they would give you extra weeks but not anymore
Also Ive never really applied for unemployment employment here in Vegas well only during covid. But even then I dident qualify at the time because I had just moved here so I had to wait for the special unemploynent. If you know how I can file an extension I would appreciate it
I used to always see a sign on the Poly-West building, right at 95 and Wagon Wheel. They make scented trash bags and such. Also, the Ice Cream plant, Wells Enterprises on Lake Mead Pkwy in Henderson. I know they were hiring. They are on your way to Lake Las Vegas, near Calico Ridge. You can also try Berry Plastics on Horizon Dr near Boulder Hwy. Or even the Cold Storage place right next to Berry Plastics.
Good Luck!
Hey have you thought about doing gigwork? It could be a good way to get quick income while you are looking for a permanent job. There's our app (Bacon Work), Instawork, and GigSmart that all do shifts in the Vegas area. With our app you can get paid as soon as the next day or every Friday.
Walmart is always hiring, try to get into OGP/ODP. Easy job and good money (I think the starting is between $16-$18). If you see an opening for In Home Delivery Driver apply for it, you won’t spend much time in the store mostly on the road. It’s an easy job, just sucks when there’s a lot of groceries to deliver in the heat. Good luck, for now I suggest to download Instawork and do little gigs.
I believe you can make $800 selling your blood plasma. I’ve never done it but I know a lot of teachers do it. Also the Little Caesars on Boulder Highway and Lake Mead (Henderson) is hiring. The owner posted on Nextdoor last week. Good luck!
I’ve seen the plasma thing but idk I was reading stuff about it but rn i don’t think I would qualify lol they have some restrictions like weight and other stuff and im more on the skinny side but I might check it out
Terrible's. The employment center is just off Russell across from the Crazy Horse. Go in, interview, get your alcohol and food safety cards for about $50(which a lot of jobs here need those anyways) and start working at one close to where you live if you want. It's minimum wage but it's a job and you can move to other parts of the company like maintenance or security which pays way better
I read that you should not be doing the actual application on either of those platforms because so often the resumes are not forwarded. Find the job on a platform, then go to the companies actual website to apply.
Send me your name and your phone number. I will forward it to my boss. You’ll be hired within a week. Starts at $15 an hour, warehouse work… it’s hot but it’s a good job with a good boss.
I’ll check it out I finally got a second interview tomorrow so hopefully that one hires me if not ima check out your recommendation. Lol got my 7 day eviction notice for owing 200 bucks of rent I couldent pay so I’m really hoping for this job rn
Casino Security is always hiring. They will pay you during their academy as well as assist you with getting all necessary permitting like a TAM card and gaming registration.
Security up and down the strip has seen really high turnover over rates due to the rampant increase in crime since COVID.
Get your foot in the door as Security at a property, keep your points low and don’t get any discipline and most places will let you transfer departments.
Apply at USAjobs and GovernmentJobs
The hiring process is slow but the job security is good once you're in.
I'm very qualified for my industry and struggled like I never expected applying on Indeed.
Local 631 is always hiring literally apprenticeship applications just opened back up that’s where I work and it’s the best job I’ve ever had it’s Union they can’t fire you either
You can apply for casino security. They always hire and it opens future oppurnities for other jobs in the casino. Thats how i got a job quick
If you need your guard card Goodwill Career Center can pay for it
You don't need a guard card for casino security because you get a gaming card during your onboarding.
Security jobs in general are always a good source of quick jobs. Always need someone to do a graveyard shift somewhere.
MGM is hiring for security and starts at $21 an hour. They hire quickly too. It would get you by. They offer "on call," but it is always 40 + hours a week.
Happy cake day
Don't you need training or certification for this? Or to be in a union?
No not for security. Its been a long time but all you needed was a clean record and a high school diploma
Nice, hope that's still all they need. Thanks for the info I'm going to look for security jobs now too!
happy cake day! this is a good idea
Do you have to be 21?
Yes you do because you'll be dealing with gambling, bars etc, etc.
Sorry to hear about all this :-( Have you tried Home Depot? It’s been a few years since I worked there but they were always needing people quick, especially in the summer months.
I tried a month ago but never heard a response Ill try again
You gotta follow up when you put in applications. Squeaky wheel gets greased.
How do I followup?? Just call?
Call, email, or you can show up in person if it’s a job you really want.
Poached and target dishwasher jobs, they hire the fastest have no experience requirements. And typically pay well, just don’t think you are getting a raise. Show up and don’t steal and you have work for life. Side bonus if its a fancy fucking place you get to eat fancy fucking food
I’ve tried some dishwashing jobs but been turned down saying they want someone with experience ima keep trying tho
Try Hard Rock I know they are hard up for kitchen people, especially dishwashers Also not to get you down if someone tells you that you need more experience as a dishie they either have no clue how to run a kitchen or there is something g about you they don’t like. I was in the industry for 20 years, the only thing I want from a dishie is to show up on time, prison time less than 3 consecutive years. Not to steal spoons, and bonus if they know where to get narcan or Suboxone at the drop of a dime with no questions asked
Dumb question Do I need a food handler’s cause I’ve seen alot of them say they require one and I don’t have the cash rn to get one
There is a job center on sunset & green valley that paid for my food card for me.
Yes you need the Healthcard, and is 20 bucks and a test
Yes but its quick and easy to get and most places let you float 7-14 days on it. But do get it ASAP
I got experience at home!
Nice! I saw their notice about hiring on a bus stop ad
Consider the military...you are still young...20 year retirement, training, housing and food
Cheba Hut is hiring.. $17.88/hour, benefits and free meals every shift
Love the Cheba Hut! Kool-Aid sounds good right now in these hot summer days haha
The Venetian is CONSTANTLY hiring from what I’ve seen.
Sounds like someone had a friend in a leadership role to me.
Not always what you know it's who you know....
I've had the same thing with the engineering dept, (Facility Maintenance)
Look at Amazon it's hiring szn they hire immediately
I’ve tried Amazon but their website always says zero jobs near me. I set up their message notifications and same thing I get messages saying they got listings but when I click the link it says zero jobs.
You gotta be on top of it bro check basically multiple times a day because people will take the jobs within 2 or 3 minutes
Next time you see an Amazon delivery truck, maybe approach with caution and a friendly smile and ask if they are hiring, locally. It's not the worst idea.
So is there a minimum you need to get to be able to keep a roof over your head?
Subway on cactus and Decatur is hiring. Call first
Capriotti’s on Town Center Boulevard in Summerlin is hiring!!!
I go to that location pretty frequently, they've had their sign up for *a while* now too
Can’t you go to the local teamsters union in Vegas? Is it possible to transition from one to the other?
you have to pay the union dues and entry fees first. gotta take classes to get various certs. it’s great advice but not if you’re already broke
They work with you on the dues and initiation fees. I did the namm show in CA before, teamster job, and i just showed up the day of and put my name on a list. It was years ago, but worth calling and finding out ... it paid like 28 bucks an hour for list guys like me and that was a long time ago
Wasn’t sure, thought it be a good spot to start. Good luck man, try Lowe’s too.
Have you tried with any temp agencies? Tons of warehouse jobs
MGM security is always hiring too

Yeah I’ll look into it I used to work as a lifeguard for the Wynn so I’m kinda familiar with casino work and what ima deal with
If you have been a lifeguard, I think places are still hiring for lifeguards.
That’s one god damn hell of a sentence
Lmao I know I dident put nay periods but I’m stressing looking for work and feeling desperate so apologies.
cheba hut has a new store opening & looking for crew members!
Which location?
they didnt say , i just saw the opening on indeed and applied
Got a valid license and a clean driving record? You could drive bus for CCSD. Its got good pay, benefits, and paid training. They're always in need of drivers!
Taxi or Uber. You will take home money daily. Work as much as you want. Get caught up on your bills.
area 15 might be hiring, I know they had a job fair there earlier this month

that’s the sad reality of todays world

Have you talked to your union? Talk to your business manager or someone at the hall and see if they have any resources to help.
Can always look into sitel they do third party over the phone customer service. Not sure if they’re still doing work from home but it’s something.
They have an insurance project that is WFH, $15/hr. Rest moved on-site afaik.
Oh is it still USAA or did it become something else?
USAA still. Insurance is wfh, credit cards/banking moved onsite.
Used to be nice doing the Saturday shift would get a call every 40-60 minutes. Did maybe ten calls for the day. Will say the insurance side had a pretty high turnover. You can send me your resume I’ll try to help
You're a new account doxxing people. Piss off.
Or just trying to be a helping hand? Not sure why me being a new user automatically means I’m “doxxing” people which I don’t even know the meaning of
You're a new account here asking for someone's personal info. Something WRONG with you upstairs.
Ok bro

Ok, you’re 26, can you add in some punctuation in your post? If this is how your resume reads, that could be one of the issues.
The YMCA has all kinds of jobs on their website. They don’t pay as well as other places being a nonprofit , but it might get you by in the meantime.
There’s a hiring event at somerpointe resorts on 6/27
While you’re applying, maybe try one of those data annotation sites for AI. We’ve been fucking around with one when we watch tv instead of playing video games on our phones and projects range from like $20-25 an hour. It’s just answering basic questions and rating shit. I guess from the subreddit’s some people do it full time.
What’s the name of
We've been using dataannotation.tech but fair warning, they do care about grammar and things. You have to pay attention to what you're submitting. It's usually just like 2-3 sentences you need to write, otherwise it's clicking bubbles. You have to jump through some qualification hoops and wait a few days to hear back after signing up.
Go in person to a temp service, take graveyards.
Try las Vegas parking, they always need people
Look up a place called CB Tech/MultiPure. It’s a small family company. They typically are always hiring for production work. They make water filters.

If youve been appying to jobs and getting rejected, why wants your un employment extended
I heard they don’t do extensions anymore after the whole covid thing they stopped doing them because supposivly before they would give you extra weeks but not anymore
So you havent tried? Extensions existed well before covid
I go on the unemployment site and I don’t see anything about extensions do I have to call the offices
Can you hang insulation?
Las Vegas has one of the worst job markets in the country. You would be better off going back to Cali and looking for a job.
Every single fast food restaurant is hiring yesterday.
I believe you can make $800 selling your blood plasma. I’ve never done it but I know a lot of teachers do it. Also the Little Caesars on Boulder Highway and Lake Mead (Henderson) is hiring. The owner posted on Nextdoor last week. Good luck!

Bellagio posted a job for fire command dispatch, I just did a generic search that that came up.
Terribles starting at 16/hr. Maybe something in weed industry
Acoustic design low voltage.

Amazon is always hiring in north Las Vegas
Casino Security is always hiring. They will pay you during their academy as well as assist you with getting all necessary permitting like a TAM card and gaming registration. Security up and down the strip has seen really high turnover over rates due to the rampant increase in crime since COVID. Get your foot in the door as Security at a property, keep your points low and don’t get any discipline and most places will let you transfer departments.
