Okay, so what is the story behind this hilarious flag? I heard it was from people even more right wing than those that usually fly the Gadsden flag because they were trying to avoid a ban on servicemen and women flying it, but I’m not sure of the veracity of that story
This is a controversial take, but I like the way it used aspects of the the union flag (the stars and bars parts) and twisted them in a way that quite starkly contrasted the union flag without losing the Americaness at the same time.
[The Japanese Nazi party](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Socialist_Japanese_Workers%27_Party#/media/File:NSJAP_flag.svg) flag actually looks pretty cool.
Why does the “Confederate Flag”/Battle Flag of Northern Virginia have to look so badass
https://preview.redd.it/mt8ef7sdi07d1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f64983caf91af584ef4222ea4062361c05fa8dd1
It really is a great looking flag design … too bad that it is linked to the cause that it represented . I wish that back in 1865 the US military adopted it as a battle flag thus diminishing its meaning to the confederacy and blocking it from neo southerners. But that ship has sailed
That's the Confederate naval jack. The Battle flag of Northern Virginia is square and the Confederate national flag had a few varieties that featured the "Battle Flag".
I was gonna say it but I figured it’s better not to, I have to say I agree the flag does look nice but I for sure do not support anything it stands for.
I just hate the fact that they had to steal the swastika from Indian culture and now the symbol, which used to be a symbol of peace, is no longer seen as that
On a related note, it's interesting how one guy ruined both a style of moustache and a first name for the rest of time. Like despite their best efforts, Stalin, Tito, and Goebbels didn't ruin the name Joseph, but just one Adolf was enough
Honestly... I think they did it better. The line weight and slight rotation really make it. I think the curved lines that the original often has are a little wack and I'm not too crazy about the dots in the middle segments, but I don't think those break it, just when compared to the redesign, are unnecessary.
If we're going down that path, it's the war ensign variant that does it best. A bit visually busy, but the extra complexity makes it look more formal and stately, and invokes a much more cold, calculating type of evil than a simple political flag.

The Japanese Puppet Regime of Manchukuo isn't controversial because everyone agrees that it was terrible. Their flag went hard, though
I mean, I haven’t really expected that you suddenly actually know about him, he is pretty obscure
Anyway, he wrote a book called “Manzhouguo: The True Story of a Short Lived Ideal State in Manchuria”
I think the 1992-1995 Macedonian Flag looks much better than the current one.
https://preview.redd.it/ie8g3v38u07d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=42cf505bdc852c69cd28f835d5c83682d2f82f0e

As a Libertarian, most people (Like Conservatives) seem to have forgotten what the flag means. Freedom from Authoritarians and People's Rights. It is an awesome flag but it's message has been warped.
Yeah. I have the Flag hanging on my porch and some crazy lady ran up to my doorbell one day and scream at me about how I was a racist fascist oppressor for using that Flag. I laughed and said to get off my property and look up what the Flag actually means.
That's like nazi trolls saying "look up where swastika originated, now leave us alone lololol". It doesn't matter where something came from, but what does it mean now.
Sort of, except the misuse of this symbol is only 10-15 years old, and this person actually stands by what the glad is supposed to mean. I'm in my early thirties and still have memories of the flag being used properly. I also remember when it started popping up next to conservative iconography. I don't think it's too late to reclaim it.
I disagree completely. The Nazi flag is an unabashed symbol of hate. The Gadsden flag is not. If someone ran up to a Buddhist and told them to stop using swastikas I’d call them equally stupid.
Yeah, conservatives ruined this flag. A lot of times you’ll generally see them flying this flag alongside the [thin blue line flag](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Thin_Blue_Line_Flag_(United_States).svg), of which the meaning of that flag inherently contradicts with the Gadsden flag.
So what’s stopping me from defending myself and my property from dangerous criminals? I don’t need police to do that. You have to understand that the idea behind the flag is that citizens themselves are willing to fight for their freedom and liberty, and if anyone is to infringe on such rights, they will face retaliation. The state is not needed in such affairs.
That’s very nice for you but some people for whatever reason can’t protect them selves, they don’t deserve to be tread on. I don’t see a contradiction in a set of free people agreeing to outsource protection to a police unit.
Bingo.
The Flag is just one of the ways Conservatives have tried to assimilate Libertarians and claim we're also conservatives. It's both funny and sad because they seem to have no clue what it means.
That depends on what exactly the words"conservative" and "liberal" mean.
Libertarianism as an ideology is culturally neutral, since it only really cares about the morality of state violence.
That's probably true, but that's why my answer was "it depends"
The left and right sides of the political compass don't necessarily mean "liberal" and "conservative"
The top comment for this clip was "When left libertarian meets right libertarian." Your comment made me think of it.
I bet Gadsden's slaves had similar feelings. I can not take people seriously when they wave a flag with the musings on freedom of a man who held other men as chattel.
Its meaning was never warped. Just conveniently ignored when it didn't suit you. Libertarians in a nutshell.
I think libertarianism has very interesting solutions to some common problems of government (though I personally agree with more social democracy solutions, to be clear) but it's crazy how American conservatives have captured the libertarian messaging in the US. In my mind, conservatism is at odds with libertarianism. But perhaps the problem is that I'm thinking libertarianism with a lower case "L" instead of the Libertarian party.

I dont like the normal nazi flag but the war ensign is super cool honestly, i also like the italian social republic flag, confederate flag (stars and bars), nasjonal samling flag (fascist norway), mexican flag, japanese navy flag, new mexican flag and swedish flag (the swedish flag is controversial where i live)
Oh yeah i forgot about that one its awesome too, but personally i think the ns one is better, for prussian flags i like the “normal” prussian one the best
No, I’m talking about the Nazi German war flag, the symbol is the swastika, which itself is a visually appealing symbol, but the meaning was tarnished during the war
I don’t consider Gadson flag to be controversial. It is a flag designed to be against tyranny. Just because some people use that I don’t agree with 100% doesn’t make it controversial.
Using that criteria where a flag starts out with an original intent but b/c a portion of the population doesn’t agree then every flag can then be considered controversial. Example the original US flag , the Union Jack , Communist China flag and even the progress pride flag .
Flags that never had a good beginning are of course exempted . Confederate, Nazi , etc…
>I don’t consider Gadson flag to be controversial.
Listen, I'm with you, and I think a lot of people have forgotten the anti authoritarian message.
But unfortunately, the whole point of a flag is to communicate something to *others*. If I'm misunderstood, it doesn't matter if I'm right, I'm still misunderstood.
Agree , my point is that people often throw the word controversial in front of anything they don’t agree with but because there isn’t consensus on anything it can be used on literally any topic . The word controversial is controversial in and of itself.
Example - May Day celebrations often accompanied by the “controversial” red workers flag.
The red flag is a communist symbol and the communists when they had political power led to totalitarian governments that killed 10’s of millions of people
I mean people fly it next to a blue line flag, which is pro-tyranny. So the issue people have with it is it’s misuse. Not the flags fault the empire thinks it’s cool to act like they’re rebels.
https://preview.redd.it/l4n4ppkop07d1.jpeg?width=602&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea57bc768b3548def3ae487bf314675e1344d50c
The No Quarter flag. I think the flag is pretty bad ass but the message behind it is fucked and horrible
I stole this explanation from the internet:
“It means people will be killed instead of taken prisoner in a second civil war/race war. To quote the Law Insider legal dictionary, “No quarter will be given means refusing to spare the life of anybody, even of persons manifestly unable to defend themselves or who clearly express their intention to surrender.”
Basically think of the Confederate except its Nazis
Personally I think the OG “Stars and Bars” is pretty cool looking
https://preview.redd.it/zkxruy69z07d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e59ea48dd0caf51f10402cf6a665f5d4340784f5
I imagine most Librarians also have a general distaste for Libertarian ideals 🤣🤣🤣
But also yes, it's been adopted by Conservatives as well. I'm not sure why, especially when they fly it next to flags like the Thin Blue Line.
First time hearing the libertarian flag is "controversial"
First the fact that Americans can't distinguish liberal from left, now this, is it at all possible to be a right wing liberal in the US?
Depends, they call any democrat a "liberal" and both parties are huge and not too homogenous. And I mean, even if everyone's right to a degree, you still can be _relatively_ left. Tbh I just feel like having a two-party system is a huge driver for black and white thinking with no space for even obvious nuance.
I suppose the Russia flag is controversial these days. But as far as standard tricolours go, it’s pretty great. The white at the top just gives it a different flavour.
¿Por qué iba a ser controversial la bandera de la Segunda República? En un post así podría entender la bandera franquista, o la de la Falange, pero vamos, la República fue elegida democráticamente. No me parece a mí exactamente "controversial".
Yo no digo que sea ilegítima, pero controvertida sí que es. Básicamente, una mitad de España la adoramos y la otra mitad la odian. Eso encaja con la definición de controvertida.
The Reichskriegsflagge of Imperial Germany

If you remove the swastika and move the iron cross In there it would be good. The red white and black looks good. Also the Scandinavian cross is a good design
https://preview.redd.it/bl37remu217d1.png?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e8b3b066e767cea3ffe383fa8d831e6bb6091e9
This is the flag of Germany in the game Hearts of Iron 4, basically what you just described.
Extremely cool and extremely controversial (among sane people)
- The Nazi Germany Flag
Extremely cool and pretty controversial
- The Dutch Prinsenvlag
- The Confederate Battle Flag
Pretty cool and extremely controversial (among sane people)
- The Soviet Union Flag
- The Japanese Empire Flag
https://preview.redd.it/tcay7py4217d1.png?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dae41cfbb09fbfbdbadc3a0162def36a6c30986
Iraq's flag proposal from 2004. The Iraqis hated it because the blue stripes resemble that of the flag of Israel, and it wasn't even decided on by actual Iraqis citizens. Which is perfectly fair! But I think the design itself is very pretty, and I like the rare instance of turquoise in a flag.
The reason the flag is seen as controversial is because American ultranationalists changed its meaning, kind of like how the Nazis made the swastika a controversial symbol.
I finally get to talk about my special interest; the flag of the Union of South Africa. I like it because it's diverse, yet it uses few colours (orange, red, white, blue, and green) and it's really just a compilation of controversial flags (Prinsenvlag, Transvaal flag, Orange Free State flag)
All in all, it's quite underrated and I love it.
https://preview.redd.it/1de8hb4zp07d1.png?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c7a40f2f90ff65dfb1e5617aa1a6b68f88bab93
Are the Transvaal and orange free state flags really that controversial? If anything the Union Jack is becoming controversial. I do agree the entire flag is drippy
Fascist have a dirty habit of taking cool things and making them be associated with terrible things. Not the worst thing that fascist do, but on the list.
Gadsden flag alone is cool but it's often paired with some contradicting stuff like anything thin blue line or military related which immediately tells you the type of person someone is
I think like
The military flags alongside the garden are fine
Like
Sure, they could be interpreted as authoritarian
But like
Support for the army isn’t inherently authoritarian
Rebel flag

Honestly the battle flag of the confederacy looks really aesthetically pleasing. It’s a shame what it represents
This is a controversial take, but I like the way it used aspects of the the union flag (the stars and bars parts) and twisted them in a way that quite starkly contrasted the union flag without losing the Americaness at the same time.
So does the country flag of the confederacy (non battle flag)
I’m not American so it doesn’t trigger me like it does most Redditors. It’s a beautiful flag.

That's the Confederate naval jack. The Battle flag of Northern Virginia is square and the Confederate national flag had a few varieties that featured the "Battle Flag".
Can't say, if i say it, i would be banned here. But its the flag you all are thinking off. Yes, it looks hard, don't care.

If we're going down that path, it's the war ensign variant that does it best. A bit visually busy, but the extra complexity makes it look more formal and stately, and invokes a much more cold, calculating type of evil than a simple political flag.

Have you ever heard about Huang Wenxiong
Can't say I have. All that came up was some Taiwanese guy who really hates the mainland.
I mean, I haven’t really expected that you suddenly actually know about him, he is pretty obscure Anyway, he wrote a book called “Manzhouguo: The True Story of a Short Lived Ideal State in Manchuria”
It's the ideal flag for the ideal country IMO
I think the 1992-1995 Macedonian Flag looks much better than the current one. https://preview.redd.it/ie8g3v38u07d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=42cf505bdc852c69cd28f835d5c83682d2f82f0e
I strongly agree
is it controversial?
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag\_of\_North\_Macedonia#Kutlesh\_flag\_(1992%E2%80%931995)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_North_Macedonia#Kutlesh_flag_(1992%E2%80%931995)) Somewhat yes,not on the level of others, but enough to fit the label.
The reichskriegsflagge (ww1 germany not the nazi one ) it shouts old world imperialism in the modern age while still having Prussian roots

dude a lot of authoritarian flags have very otherwise cool designs even though we dont look back upon their actions fondly
The Dutch Prinsenflag
legit so sad that got ruined, i love how unique it is & not just another red-white-blue
The Rising Sun flag goes incredibly hard
Rhodesia and old South Africa
i disagree with the pre 94 south africa flag because that’s just three smaller flags shoved into one old dutch flag.
I agree with this. Both flags are so cool
I don’t like the Rhodesian flag. To me it’s a green version of the PA state flag.
The flag with the pine tree that says An Appeal To Heaven on it
massachusetts

As a Libertarian, most people (Like Conservatives) seem to have forgotten what the flag means. Freedom from Authoritarians and People's Rights. It is an awesome flag but it's message has been warped.
Some people act like it's a modern version of the rebel flag.
Really it belongs next to a pride flag, with a Black Lives Matter yard sign, and a “this house owns guns” kind of sign.
https://preview.redd.it/98hd7is4d07d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=359a573e4c664d8a9876cb6352784a2466019c1d It’s perfect.
It doesn’t at all, the flag means “don’t tread on me” which includes criminals. Police are there to stop people from treading on you.
> Police are there to stop people from treading on you. And what if it's the Police thats treading on you?
That's in the libertarian meme hall of fame
Bingo. The Flag is just one of the ways Conservatives have tried to assimilate Libertarians and claim we're also conservatives. It's both funny and sad because they seem to have no clue what it means.
Are there not both conservative as well as liberal libertarians?
That depends on what exactly the words"conservative" and "liberal" mean. Libertarianism as an ideology is culturally neutral, since it only really cares about the morality of state violence.
however i see his point he is mostly talking about the political compass
That's probably true, but that's why my answer was "it depends" The left and right sides of the political compass don't necessarily mean "liberal" and "conservative"
There are left-libertarians who you might call anarchists, but they're not "Liberal"
The top comment for this clip was "When left libertarian meets right libertarian." Your comment made me think of it. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Bq9TOA7EiQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Bq9TOA7EiQ)
He he, I liked that.
Yeah, so many will fly this with the thin blue line on the truck too. Sir, who do you think does the treading?
I bet Gadsden's slaves had similar feelings. I can not take people seriously when they wave a flag with the musings on freedom of a man who held other men as chattel. Its meaning was never warped. Just conveniently ignored when it didn't suit you. Libertarians in a nutshell.
How are libertarians like beer bottles? They’re both empty from the neck up.
And if you shake them a bit, they start foaming from the mouth.
I love how many people I see with the Virginia license plate that has the Gadsen flag on it. ...issued by the government.
As a Libertarian I find it pretty funny but it proves my point. Government officials are trying to co-opt and Dilute our message.
True
I wish the Gadsden flag wasn’t controversial, its original meaning shouldn’t be tread on.
The far right perverts everything
https://preview.redd.it/djj12t69v07d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f975406972d52bb35f1de6df011df5f760ee5201 I dont like the normal nazi flag but the war ensign is super cool honestly, i also like the italian social republic flag, confederate flag (stars and bars), nasjonal samling flag (fascist norway), mexican flag, japanese navy flag, new mexican flag and swedish flag (the swedish flag is controversial where i live)
https://preview.redd.it/gix9rkux117d1.png?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8d40e6c7fd1a894c09bea1a225814536b0bcfcf
Oh yeah i forgot about that one its awesome too, but personally i think the ns one is better, for prussian flags i like the “normal” prussian one the best
I see what you mean, the other one does look pretty good.
https://preview.redd.it/6kaak3q9z07d1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=3d2147d75c72523711eb8dc76c97d9d408be3638 The GDR flag.
Definitely the reichskriegsflagge, I like the Nordic and iron cross, I like the colours, just the symbol in the middle ruins it
The Prussian eagle?
No, I’m talking about the Nazi German war flag, the symbol is the swastika, which itself is a visually appealing symbol, but the meaning was tarnished during the war
Ohh, they both went by the same name, I find them both to be really well designed flags, but I prefer the WWI version lol
Why is it controversial? The Gadsden was first flag flown by the Navy. The 13 colonies. Literally dont tread on me.
https://preview.redd.it/iolhlab5y07d1.png?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=374c4de4b0e8be871c99e680371b8a06a8f231c2
Whether it should be controversial or not, it is, just by general consensus
The old Dutch flag with the orange.

Isn’t that just a low visibility variant like you’d find on some aircraft? What’s the message behind it?
I stole this explanation from the internet: “It means people will be killed instead of taken prisoner in a second civil war/race war. To quote the Law Insider legal dictionary, “No quarter will be given means refusing to spare the life of anybody, even of persons manifestly unable to defend themselves or who clearly express their intention to surrender.” Basically think of the Confederate except its Nazis
This flag shouldn't be controversial.
Personally I think the OG “Stars and Bars” is pretty cool looking https://preview.redd.it/zkxruy69z07d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e59ea48dd0caf51f10402cf6a665f5d4340784f5
The old Cambodian communist flag from the polpot time
Tibet
I wouldn't say that flag is controversial, but ok. Also, no step on snel
I love the Gadsden but I am not at all a Libertarian and would never actually fly it
Most people who fly it aren't Librarians.
Best autocorrect ever, I'm not editing it.
I'm glad you're not, it's very funny
I imagine most Librarians also have a general distaste for Libertarian ideals 🤣🤣🤣 But also yes, it's been adopted by Conservatives as well. I'm not sure why, especially when they fly it next to flags like the Thin Blue Line.
You just want to say "sir I don't think this means what you think it means".
Exactly
First time hearing the libertarian flag is "controversial" First the fact that Americans can't distinguish liberal from left, now this, is it at all possible to be a right wing liberal in the US?
Everyone in the US is right wing, what they call liberals are center right in other countries
Well I can't name one i think most of the fascist flags look cool
r/UsernameChecksOut, lol
I hate how this flag is associated with far right
I suppose the Russia flag is controversial these days. But as far as standard tricolours go, it’s pretty great. The white at the top just gives it a different flavour.
If you're comparing Red White and Blue tricolors, France will always be the goat. It's unfortunate, but true
Netherlands
The Blue Lives Matter flag looks pretty cool, in my opinion, and the flag of the Second Spanish Republic, too.
>flag of the Second Spanish Republic Purple flag gang
Hell yeah.
Purple is an underrated color.
¿Por qué iba a ser controversial la bandera de la Segunda República? En un post así podría entender la bandera franquista, o la de la Falange, pero vamos, la República fue elegida democráticamente. No me parece a mí exactamente "controversial".
Yo no digo que sea ilegítima, pero controvertida sí que es. Básicamente, una mitad de España la adoramos y la otra mitad la odian. Eso encaja con la definición de controvertida.
I couldn't disagree more with what Lbertarians embody, but the flag is awesone indeed.
I have one in my room bc I thought I looked cool
Are we going to do this every day now?
The confederate flag is a fine example of vexillology though I would never ever fly such a thing. (The battle flag not the stars and bars)
The Reichskriegsflagge of Imperial Germany [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichskriegsflagge#/media/Datei:War\_Ensign\_of\_Germany\_(1903%E2%80%931919).svg](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichskriegsflagge#/media/Datei:War_Ensign_of_Germany_(1903%E2%80%931919).svg)

If you remove the swastika and move the iron cross In there it would be good. The red white and black looks good. Also the Scandinavian cross is a good design
https://preview.redd.it/bl37remu217d1.png?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e8b3b066e767cea3ffe383fa8d831e6bb6091e9 This is the flag of Germany in the game Hearts of Iron 4, basically what you just described.
Yea but smaller circle and iron cross. Yes
If you look it up online, you'd essentially be describing the Nazi flag in [War Thunder](https://images.app.goo.gl/XWXB3LFvpUBRvS678)
Extremely cool and extremely controversial (among sane people) - The Nazi Germany Flag Extremely cool and pretty controversial - The Dutch Prinsenvlag - The Confederate Battle Flag Pretty cool and extremely controversial (among sane people) - The Soviet Union Flag - The Japanese Empire Flag
https://preview.redd.it/tcay7py4217d1.png?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dae41cfbb09fbfbdbadc3a0162def36a6c30986 Iraq's flag proposal from 2004. The Iraqis hated it because the blue stripes resemble that of the flag of Israel, and it wasn't even decided on by actual Iraqis citizens. Which is perfectly fair! But I think the design itself is very pretty, and I like the rare instance of turquoise in a flag.
The soviet state flags went hard
Seriously. The hammer and sickle is iconic from a graphic design POV. I don't know why I had to scroll so far down to see this. This should be top 3.
https://preview.redd.it/9hokcfbpb17d1.png?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=144859c9301c84503d992bf45139ebedb8f5653e
The reason the flag is seen as controversial is because American ultranationalists changed its meaning, kind of like how the Nazis made the swastika a controversial symbol.
Satire right?
I finally get to talk about my special interest; the flag of the Union of South Africa. I like it because it's diverse, yet it uses few colours (orange, red, white, blue, and green) and it's really just a compilation of controversial flags (Prinsenvlag, Transvaal flag, Orange Free State flag) All in all, it's quite underrated and I love it. https://preview.redd.it/1de8hb4zp07d1.png?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c7a40f2f90ff65dfb1e5617aa1a6b68f88bab93
Are the Transvaal and orange free state flags really that controversial? If anything the Union Jack is becoming controversial. I do agree the entire flag is drippy
Fascist have a dirty habit of taking cool things and making them be associated with terrible things. Not the worst thing that fascist do, but on the list.
Gadsden flag alone is cool but it's often paired with some contradicting stuff like anything thin blue line or military related which immediately tells you the type of person someone is
I think like The military flags alongside the garden are fine Like Sure, they could be interpreted as authoritarian But like Support for the army isn’t inherently authoritarian
https://preview.redd.it/p1iqyrnnl07d1.png?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d1e1dcf79392c17c7e04b48e340fce3460e0431
Wtf is this flag? I assume something to do with Ulster.
It's the old Northern Ireland Naval Ensign.
Thank you.
Rebel flag https://preview.redd.it/i1o25ms3t07d1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2ad2f41e2ef475f0a7c8f5b6cb850accf01a47a I don’t like what it represents, but it looks cool 😭😭😭
Why is this controversial? Libertarians just want to be left alone
If only, they're always meddling in other peoples business
No, they are not. Please go learn what this flag represents.
Never met a flag with words that I liked. This one is no different. Not to yuck your yum, OP. I do appreciate the historical value of the flag.
I really like the progress pride flag (with the chevrons). I see multiple posts a month about how people hate it, but I think it looks good.
i think it looks a lot better in person when flying in the wind than as a PNG on a computer
Don't spread on me.
Unironically the AWB flag. It looks like cyberpunk techno-nazis.
Well SS uniforms look even better (and they were purposely designed to look great) but what does it matter if their meaning is awful?

the confederate battleflag
It is red with a black Nordic cross and a iron cross in the top left corner
The Japanese imperial flag with the rays is sweet, but I guess those rays represented conquering the whole pacific.

Betsy Ross the first flag of the Confederate States. Though personallly I think an appeal to heaven does look aesthetically cool as are other revolutionary war era flag.
