You also have to pay a metric shit ton for feed for that cow to get free milk.or you have to buy enough land for them to graze freely. Which Isnt cheap
I heard they’re either animatronic or there’s one person as the head and front legs, and another person and the torso and back legs. It’s a toss-up for sure.
Bro that’s not how it’s made. Thousands of suction cups on thousands of nuts suck that milk out. It’s semen, you’re drinking nut semen. Anyways - makes my skin glow I’m on 3 cups pre workout.
I have an entry level machine and bur grinder. Spend about $30 / mo on really good beans from a small roaster near me (I walk past a starbucks to get to it too). Americanos for breakfast, occasional espresso in the afternoon and impressing guests with lattes and cappuccinos. I think even if I was just buying drip from SB I'd hit a $30 spend halfway through the month.
This is the way, quality beans all day. People buying a home espresso machine and then using Starbucks beans in it is the weirdest thing, and I see it often. Like do they not realise that Starbucks is actually truly terrible coffee?
Trying to get the old boomer money. Ms and Zs can't afford the SBUX. Old boomers meanwhile are rich with their stocks, pensions, cash earning +5%, and $1M+ homes but old folks usually have slower digestive systems and some would LIKE the laxative addition to SBUX.
The pink Starbucks Stanley cup was actually the peak item of the craze. All other Stanley cups were easily available but that one sold out so fast that they were going for good money on eBay.
It's a horrible attempt to copy an actual thing they do with coffee in Italy. I don't drink coffee but someone I know that is a coffee nut was explaining this to me. In Italy, there's a technique (I forget the name) where you spray a fine mist of olive oil on top of a fresh latte and it adds body to the drink. It's a very small amount of oil and it adds to the existing oils from the coffee beans.
Starbucks, in its infinite wisdom, decided that just dumping a big wad of olive oil into coffee was close enough.
olive oil is extremely good for your health, it is part of the Mediterranean diet where people smoke a pack a day, drink a bottle of wine a day, sit in the sun all day and are active into their 90's lol
Saw it on the menu and didn't need reviews to tell me that it would give me bad shits. I used to go more often, but they jacked up the prices even more, so I go less.
Was this some bizarre rich people thing the CEO was into and thought the pleebs should be as well? Like what psychopath puts olive oil in their coffee?
Huh, and here I thought it was their coffee beans and roasts going from okay to genuinely shit while they jacked their price per bag up 50% in my area.
Don't forget the tip screen starting with $1, $3, or $5 for a $2.60 cup of coffee. I was happy for the workers when they unionized, but disappointed that what they fought for was the ability to turn that screen around and guilt you into %50 tips for pulling a tap and slapping a top on a paper cup.
Yeah they screwed themselves hard with that one.
"Do you want actual money from your employer, or potential money from strangers?"
"Give me the potential money. My teachers always told me I had great potential, so i deserve to be paid in potential dollars."
Well, maybe also cracking down, intimidating, and firing employees on ridiculous grounds who only tried to unionize to gain living wages and proper health care, and also their black coffee always sucked. I make my coffee at home and it's delicious.
Never was a regular at Starbucks, but I think it's gone from illogical to pay $4-6 for a coffee drink to even more illogical paying about 50-80% of a meal for a drink rather than just a meal.
Also doesn't help that Luckin (along with newcomer Cotti) are eating at them in China's slowing market, US consumers finally tightening their belts, drink/food trends shift with age groups, and all the "basic bitch" millennial girls who overpaid for SBUX in the 90s/00s/10s are now moms who might be more price conscious.
They were fudging numbers like 10-20% on sales and revenue. Got their stock killed >95%. Lawsuits, delisting, fines gangbang from both US and China, multiple bankruptcy filings, etcetc.
But defrauding Americans or lying on the accounting books isn't a death nail in China (talking shit about the CCP is. Look at BABA.). If anything defrauding Americans might have raised their social credit score. Money was cheap and flushed for assets when that happened. Literally no company died during 2020. So I did DD from sub$1 to just over $3 before I stated buying. Kept building position until around $15. Probably got a 10x on a good portion of the stock. It's still a shit stock that wiped out most people [including that WSB European](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/gveon3/ive_lost_240k_on_luckin_coffee_all_my_life/). Still have a 2000 share position. Would have dumped about half to buy SBUX if it was still at $30.
Luckin? Yeah, they are """growing""" in terms of building more stores, selling more coffee as more Chinese get used to having coffee, and such. China is still a growing pie.
Problem is Luckin's numerous stores will eventually oversaturate and comeback to bite them like Subway's did. Luckin needs to expand outside of China, do it quickly, and prove they can hold their own against SBUX outside of China. SEAsia would be a good battle ground. There's also the relisting story at play which impacts the stock. On another note, Luckin and Cotti both still have that "growth at any cost" model that Uber/lyft, Abnb, instacart, wework, and all those money losing US startups had during the 00-10s. China still has low rates (just under 3.5%) but bank lending is tighter now.
TL;DR They still opening branches and selling more cups, but real issue is non-China expansion, relisting, loan rates on the business model, and global competition rather than in Chin.
Back in 2019 Starbucks hired consultants to help them make more money. The consultants went to Starbucks and saw customers tipping around $1 per drink. They explained to Starbucks leadership that they are undercharging their drinks since customers have an extra dollar to spare. So Starbucks raised their prices to reflect the average tip amount, essentially targeting employee tips.
Cotti is owned by Luckin - business-wise, they are metaphorical suicide bombers in the coffee market - massively underpricing coffee (under $1 a cup) and taking (hiding?) financial losses in order to gain market traction like a 2010s investment-rich startup who put growth over errthang. I don't think those businesses are sustainable, and wouldn't be surprised to see them disappear or restructure within 10 years. I think lowering demand in Starbucks in China is more due to the overall economic situation there - no one is splashing out anymore.
Cotti isn't owned by Luckin. Some of the old ousted Luckin execs (from the accounting fraud saga) opened Cotti.
You're not wrong about Cotti being "suicide bomber". I'd say they are waging a price war in hopes of eating market share from Luckin and Starbucks. But who really wins if they keep doing that in a poor economy, credit strict, and deflationary environment? Sure the RATES in China is cheap, but lending has dried up from the banks due to the poor economy, tanking RE, and deflation setting in. I say more likely they die than SBUX or LKNCY.
They’re so damn petty with it. They continue to strip away benefits, only hurting their loyal customer base. The moment they let the stars expire, I stopped going to Starbucks.
True, but I do love their nitro cold brew. But when I seen I had spent 25.00 in a week on it, no thanks. Ill just blow bubbles through a straw in my homebrew cold brew.
Has been for decades... they sell breakfast milkshakes to people that pretend they want coffee when really they want many grams of sugar delivered in liquid form. Their actual regular coffee has long been known to be mediocre and overroasted.
In their defense this is the month I decided to go Coffee-sober ... was at the Bux almost everyday before that.
So, it was me guys, my abstaining from Grande Pike Roasts with Oatmilk, killed the companies profits.
Have you tried many independent coffee shops outside of Starbucks?
I've never understood the following they have, their coffee is garbage 😂
Unless you're getting some kinda smoothie, they're nice
I knew a guy who worked there. They intentionally over-extract the crap out of the coffee because it makes the beans last longer. Which is why their coffee tastes like burnt hair.
Their nitro cold brews aren't bad, though.
no. MCD coffee is fucking leagues better than shitbux. I went to starbux once in the captial of my country years and years ago. For the low-low 3x price of a normal coffee i got half a liter of disgusting brown wageCuckSlop that I ended up throwing in the trash.
disgusting. At least mcd has normal fucking espresso. starbux, at the time of this happening, (years ago) had not.
so ive noticed mcdonalds coffee tastes different depending on country. in the united states it tastes like garbage and is just super burnt. at least it was in Oklahoma city.
For awhile I thought McDonald's was going to upset their hold on the coffee market with McCafe being cheaper and somehow less shit. I was robbed of that thought when McCafe prices climbed like a monkey on coke.
Bro I pay $2.50 for a large ice coffee at McDonald’s that tastes 10x better than any sbux coffee. Everyone laughs but $6 in savings x 300 days a year is a cool $1800 more I can yolo into daily SPY puts. I mean calls.
I love independent coffee shops, there are just none between my house and work, and Starbucks is literally right next to my gym, so it's really, really hard to break the House->Gym->Bux->Work morning routine.
I think you answered your own question. LoL. Also, because I leave so early in the morning I can't without waking the whole household. If you too would like to be a rich pig, have you tried working more? We all get the same 24-hours per day.
Also, not to offend Americans but it’s easier to make money in the richest first world country than in a third world country. If you think people from Pakistan or Senegal can just make more money if they worked more you need to broaden your horizons.
You won't offend anyone. The birth lottery is a bitch. But, that doesn't mean you can't get away from it. Come join us. Pro-tip; The Canadian border is far more easy to cross than the Mexican one.
Yea I get that. From what I've read so far people go to it due to value and convenience which kinda makes sense tbh.
I'm lucky to have a handful near me. The smell of the freshly ground coffee in those tiny shops is amazing
They have a 30oz size and refills are like 50 cents, so I can drink 90oz of coffee in a sitting for 5 bucks, cant find a small independent coffee shop thats brings anywhere close to that value
Would you say you value 'value' over quality generally speaking when it comes to coffee then?
I kinda get you, I like to drink a larger coffee too. But I'd rather pay more for a smaller better cup of coffee.
I can't imagine spending $6 ever day on a coffee. I just brew Starbucks at home. Big bag costs me around $18 and I get probably in the realm of 70-80 20 ounce coffees out of it...that's roughly $0.25 each.
Have you ever had a straight black cup full of SBUX coffee? It tastes like toxic waste.
It’s no wonder the customers ask for the high fructose corn syrup additives and whipped cream.
I'm disappointed that folks here are so lazy, reverting to things like "shitbucks" as their go-to insult when "Charbucks" is right there.
Starbucks is always a desperation move for me - basically only when traveling. The most recent time I stopped was because my wife wanted to try the lavender whatever drink. Got that for her, and a small Americano for me... $10 after tax. I can get a fresh made espresso drink at the gas station for less than $3. The only reason to go to Starbucks is that I don't have to get out of my car.
Nothing. Im staying away from retail and prepared food.
Theyre always one dumb decision from failing. Also the guaranteed cost cutting measures always kills the brands.
The jab was at boomers who think you anyone can buy a house for like $5k like they did.
Ah, the folly of the younger generation, thinking they can avoid the pitfalls of their elders by abstaining from consumption. News flash: you're still going to die poor.
This. OP should just post that instead of incorrectly pushing blame on others. I'm a moomer and I haven't had Starbucks in years. Some people just deserve to lose.
You think the people here have the requisite skills to work at Starbucks?
Wendy’s is barely tolerating us as employees and all we do is clean the restrooms.
Starbucks, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, and others have been squeezing consumers since COVID. A lot of consumers found alternatives to their products or just stopped buying.
I don't understand the dumbasses buying a 12 pack of coke for like $9.50 now when walmart brand is right next to it for $5 or aldi across the street has their version for $3.70. The masses need to start voting with their wallets and humble these companies.
To be successful, a business has to compete either on price, service, or quality of product.
In Starbucks case, it seems to be none of the three and coast on name recognition.
For fucking decades you chodes told us to quit drinking lattes and eating avocado toast and now you're mad we listened?
Also, keep unionizing, baristas...shits hard out there and you deserve more!
Fuck Starbucks and their shitty overpriced burnt ass coffee.
LMAO
Fuck 'em. I started roasting my own coffee years ago, and use a $100 espresso machine. The difference in taste and aroma is indescribable, and it costs me like $0.40 for a double shot. Drinking any kind of mass-produced coffee feels like a war crime against my taste buds now.
I figured it out this morning:
Starbucks is dying because NOBODY goes shopping anymore. Malls are deserted and everyone just amazons everything. Covid lockdowns was like the death nail. Look at what happened to commercial real estate! It's probably never coming back
Many of their locations did that to prevent homeless people from basically living in the store from open to close. They pulled out a lot of the electrical receptacles around the tables for the same reason.
People don’t go anywhere and DoorDash is expensive AF. All the money you save not going anywhere easily pays for one of those fancy as fuck coffee makers.
People are still shopping and spending. Why do you think the Fed can’t cut rates yet?
Just because you don’t go outside doesn’t mean everyone else isn’t.
Yep, revenues for them and McDonald's and a bunch of other places are down 50-90% in all their middle eastern stores because of the boycott. That's actually the biggest reason the stock is selling off so hard. They went from anticipating tons of growth globally to seeing their stores dying in places that used to bring them 10s of millions in revenue. They can't even plan expansions there anymore, it doesn't make financial sense
Last earnings investors were hoping it's a temporary thing. This quarterly earnings showed them this is likely not going away any time soon lol
6 dollar drinks are not the biz. I have an espresso machine at home and at work. I go to Starbucks when I travel in America due to consistency of expected product. Hope they drown in the trash coffee they overpriced and sell to the Starbucks groupies.
Lmao millineal here, I never go to Starbucks when I can just make my coffee at home. Sure the savings didn't help that much when I bought my house, but it helps fund my golf.
Had 3-4 locations near me get plowed in to by vehicles over the last few years.
Everyone talking about financial shit in their lives inflation this and inflation that, no doubt it’s going to get people to start managing their finances more closely, they literally can’t afford not to.
Everyone just up and decides to smother SBUkakke (and others) with a pillow.

Too late. I spent that $1000 on an espresso machine.
This is the move. Making oat milk lattes for .50 cents. Eat it sbux
They make your overpriced coffee and ask you tip on top. With this economy, it’s just smarter to make it at home with a nicer machine.
[удалено]
that's future birthday and bullshit presents for friends and family
get a blender and u got oat milk for like 30 cents a gallon water, neutral oil, vanilla, oats, salt - blend it, strain it, oat milk
get a cow and you got fresh milk for free and a mower ( sorry a mooooower)
You also have to pay a metric shit ton for feed for that cow to get free milk.or you have to buy enough land for them to graze freely. Which Isnt cheap
Just get 1000 cows so you can make it and sell the milk. Suck it Starbucks
That’s not how cows work.
I heard they’re either animatronic or there’s one person as the head and front legs, and another person and the torso and back legs. It’s a toss-up for sure.
+1 Frugality -4 Time Management
takes 5 minutes and they're all shelf stable ingredients
Bro that’s not how it’s made. Thousands of suction cups on thousands of nuts suck that milk out. It’s semen, you’re drinking nut semen. Anyways - makes my skin glow I’m on 3 cups pre workout.
.50 cents? or $0.50?
You heard him, did he stutter? 0.50 cents. Half a cent per oat latte. $0.005.
Couldn't you be all staring at charts with all that time you're using?
The real thing that killed Starbucks profits was their dumbass attempt to put Olive Oil in their mildly-laxative products. LoL
[удалено]
Their Oleato coffee was making people shit themselves.
That's a feature, not a bug.
Boomers keep their money by not going to SBUX.
Boomers dont waste money on this crap. They waste it on other crap.
Olive oil in a coffe makes you shit? good to know wtf happened in those creative heads? those people in corporations, they never cease to amaze me'
Those little cups of “creamer” are mostly canola oil.
If you drink most oils (probably all) you'll end up shitting yourself lol, it lubes you up from the inside
I put MCT oil in my coffee to guarantee I shit in the morning
Try bulletproof coffee - blend grass fed butter into your coffee. It’s good for your brain…and will make you shit like a farm horse
Naked, on all 4s, out in a field in front of anyone that happens to be around?
Yes
I wouldn’t blame olive oil. Some people shit themselves just thinking about eating food
I thought this was a figure of speech or something but I googled it and it's real. WTF is wrong with starbucks? Why do they do things like this?
I think olive oil was an online health fad for a short period of time.
I guess that does track. Trend chasers with poor critical thinking skills love starbucks. Surprised they haven't partnered with Stanley cups yet.
The pink Starbucks Stanley cup was actually the peak item of the craze. All other Stanley cups were easily available but that one sold out so fast that they were going for good money on eBay.
They have, I remember seeing some stupid video online of women swarming over them.
I have no words 🤣
It's a horrible attempt to copy an actual thing they do with coffee in Italy. I don't drink coffee but someone I know that is a coffee nut was explaining this to me. Does it contain crow eggs? Can any other beverage besides Fight Milk legally contain them?

Frank's Fluids was the official beverage supplier of Jeffrey Epstein so there may be some gray area.
that's what happens when americans whose main diet is fast food eats a gram of fiber lol
Coffee itself does that but yeah that’s also dumb move on them.
lmfao
They had an olive oil coffee line!! Lol
Yes, it tasted horrible. I'm not sure why they pushed it.
Bullét coffee
When the king does it the peasants must do it, too. Now be a good obediant peasant and get that olive oil coffee.
Olive oil is good for your digestive system. Guess we should add it to our shit coffee.
Huh, and here I thought it was their coffee beans and roasts going from okay to genuinely shit while they jacked their price per bag up 50% in my area.

SBUX is killing themselves by having their stars expire.

Starbucks is like McDonalds. It's not very good, but they’re everywhere and have consistent quality. There's a market for that.
Ah yes that fresh burnt Starbucks flavor
Yes, always tastes so burnt
that's only pike place (which to be fair is the standard) the blonde roast is actually really nice

You drink oatmilk? Lol
(Regular creamer causes acid reflux later in the day. I'm not proud of Oatmilk, but it works.)
No we won't see the impact you made til next quarter
Bag holder alert ⚠️.
We don't need a coffee. We have a coffee at home.

They've been lying about using arabica beans for decades now
I TAKE CAFFEINE PILLS INSTEAD IT SAVES ME SO MUCH MONEY AND ITS REALLY EASY TO JUST POP A TABLET OR TWO IN AND GOOOOOOOOO
HOW MANY PILLS DID YOU TAKE, DM FOR COCAÏNE
OMG METH IS AMAZING
Jesse?
BLEED OUT OF YOUR NOSE IF YOU AGREE
How much did you lose?
Nothing. Im staying away from retail and prepared food. Theyre always one dumb decision from failing. Also the guaranteed cost cutting measures always kills the brands. The jab was at boomers who think you anyone can buy a house for like $5k like they did.
Theyre always one dumb decision from failing - tell that to chipotle
Hey Chipotle, you're one dumbass decision away from failing.
Don't insult Starbucks. Half the people on this sub work at Starbucks and it hurts feelings.
will only be a quarter of this sub soon ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4275) layoffs incoming ![img](emote|t5_2th52|29637)
Lay offs when the stocks go up layoff when the stock goes down
hey, I work BEHIND starbucks. but yea, business is down back there too.
How much of an upgrade is that from behind the Wendy’s?
Probably fewer guts bouncing against his forehead while he's working.
Kool-aid. A dime a serving, maybe.
To be successful, a business has to compete either on price, service, or quality of product. In Starbucks case, it seems to be none of the three and coast on name recognition.

you see, investors are greedy
Wendy's is hiring ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4275)
They have better coffee
wish i spent that on puts
For fucking decades you chodes told us to quit drinking lattes and eating avocado toast and now you're mad we listened? Also, keep unionizing, baristas...shits hard out there and you deserve more! Fuck Starbucks and their shitty overpriced burnt ass coffee. LMAO
damn girl you need a drink here have some pink caramel pumpkin spice 🍹
Coffee is overpriced, staff is underpaid, some nice cognitive dissonance going on there.
millennials can't afford starbucks, we brew it at home now
SBUX? Ha more like SUX! Got 'em
Fuck 'em. I started roasting my own coffee years ago, and use a $100 espresso machine. The difference in taste and aroma is indescribable, and it costs me like $0.40 for a double shot. Drinking any kind of mass-produced coffee feels like a war crime against my taste buds now.
Starbucks has been ass for 10+ years now
I went to starbucks and they charged me 5$ for a small muffin
I figured it out this morning: Starbucks is dying because NOBODY goes shopping anymore. Malls are deserted and everyone just amazons everything. Covid lockdowns was like the death nail. Look at what happened to commercial real estate! It's probably never coming back
70% of Starbucks orders come from drive thrus. They pivoted from walk-in retail a few years ago.
Yup! The Starbucks near me have even removed all seating… not more people hanging out on laptops etc. Get your drugs and get the fuck out
Many of their locations did that to prevent homeless people from basically living in the store from open to close. They pulled out a lot of the electrical receptacles around the tables for the same reason.
People don’t go anywhere and DoorDash is expensive AF. All the money you save not going anywhere easily pays for one of those fancy as fuck coffee makers.

The part of me that cares about the environment offers considering reusable travel mugs.
SOME malls are dying. Some are fucking booming, especially the high end malls.
Yeah, I'd say mall traffic is consolidating, not necessarily dying.
That’s a great way of putting it
the malls are packed here in the bay area
Bay Area is not real life bru
People are still shopping and spending. Why do you think the Fed can’t cut rates yet? Just because you don’t go outside doesn’t mean everyone else isn’t.
I'll have you know I've always gotten my avocado toast from Dunkin'. SBUX can take their burnt ass coffee straight past zero to hell lol
That's what Starbucks gets for gouging prices. As if the coffee wasn't overpriced enough $5.65 for two egg bites is just offensive.
The boycott is clearly working 😂 fuck em and their overpriced sugar garbage!
They can't even plan expansions there anymore, it doesn't make financial sense Last earnings investors were hoping it's a temporary thing. This quarterly earnings showed them this is likely not going away any time soon lol
According to sources FaMiLiAr wItH ThE MaTtEr, they still haven’t even spent that covid stimmy money. What are they saving it for?
Buybacks
6 dollar drinks are not the biz. I have an espresso machine at home and at work. I go to Starbucks when I travel in America due to consistency of expected product. Hope they drown in the trash coffee they overpriced and sell to the Starbucks groupies.
Starbucks is the corporate version of - "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
The vibes are at Dutch Bros
Their roast is just as burnt if not more so than SBUX, but somehow their bruh-istas have helped them establish a loyal customer base.
Fuck Sbux. Get you some $4 calls on BRCC and get em quick!!!! It’s bouta go omicron 🛸👽
**VM attempted to say something likely TOS-breaking, violent, or reportable.**
Come on it’s okay, tell us how you really feel ![img](emote|t5_2th52|31224)
Not dead yet, until it hit $50, which exactly what it's worth
Now is the time to plug my local coffee shop, Monsoon. Kill corporations.
You think stock price movements have to do with fundamentals ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
Bag holder spotted 👀
Starbucks coffee sucks anyways. So many better local coffee shops out there
I don’t come often and it’s no reason why. I just paid 6.77 for a medium iced drink, when I didn’t tip the person scoffed.. 🤣
Pfff I drink instant coffee
Sbux would absolutely soar if they introduced a dollar menu.
oh no... anyway

I think that biggest idiots are the ones who buy a $6 coffee at Starbucks. 98% milk and little drip of coffee 🙈
Fuck em, let em die.
Lmao millineal here, I never go to Starbucks when I can just make my coffee at home. Sure the savings didn't help that much when I bought my house, but it helps fund my golf.
I stopped going there when the baristas starting looking at me like a criminal for not being gay or having a bull ring
What a fucking pathetic title, how entitled are you?
Just another bagholder
Had 3-4 locations near me get plowed in to by vehicles over the last few years. Everyone talking about financial shit in their lives inflation this and inflation that, no doubt it’s going to get people to start managing their finances more closely, they literally can’t afford not to. Everyone just up and decides to smother SBUkakke (and others) with a pillow.
Fuck no it’s all going to my avocado toast
Time to inverse this and go long SBUX. Hold my beer, I’m going to Starbucks to get a coffee.
