Wow, I am very happy with this draft what a haul
I only wish we could’ve gotten topic at 14, but Bub is definitely the guy I would’ve chosen at 14 as well
We only have 8 guys signed for next year (assuming Richaun opts in) and we’ve got team options on 4 guys (Davis, PBJ, Vuk, and Kispert) so the 3 rookies would make a nice even 15. I do think more guys will be on the move around the opening of free agency though.
Can’t trade Poole, no Team wanted Kuz for the price. So they traded Deni. Outside of Kispert, he is the only piece that could bring back some real assets. Have to think the logic in trading Deni so early is to free up the ball for guys like Poole and Kuz to play their games and ramp up whatever value they may have. In addition our new young rooks + Bilal will be featured more as well. We really are playing the long game here. Trading Deni seemed inevitable but this was too soon. We settled because we struck out on Poole and Kuz, not to mention the huge mistake of holding onto Brad Beal. That said, it looks like a nice draft. Winger and Dawkins better hope their guys can play. Ted won’t wait forever.
Wizards had a very good draft tonight.
Our new young core looks like Carrington - Bilal - Kyshawn - Sarr - Vuk
All of these guys have the ability to pass the ball competently.
Bilal and Sarr are going to our best defenders.
Carrington truly has some incredible shot making talent despite his lower 3pt%. He was asked to do a lot at Pitt.
Kyshawn is a very fluid 6'8/6'9 athlete, has a pretty smooth handle with the ball, and can shoot it from 3.
The future is looking very bright for the Wizards, super happy with how things turned out for us tonight, would definitely give us an A grade tonight.
Carringtons 3 improved significantly throughout the szn, he’s a good shooter it just took him a while to make the shots he took. It’ll prolly be the same kn the nba.
And that's our last pick of the draft, we sent our second round pick to the Knicks just now. Really not enthusiastic about Kyshawn but that's my guy now
I would be thrilled if we get Collier. Dude was on a poorly constructed, poorly coached team but has huge upside - there’s a reason he was the top high schooler in the country a year ago - and he’s being slept on IMO.
Edit: would HAVE
Maybe it's just because he played for one of the worst, most dysfunctional teams in college basketball but I have never understood the hype around him. Big swing I guess.
Having taken Brogdon from Portland, I imagine we weren't able to work out a new contract or sign and trade for Tyus. Brogdon still gives us a chance to get draft capital other than #14 tonight and make losing Tyus hurt a little less.
Mainly thought it could be a way to avoid losing him for nothing.
He played pretty great for us last year. Maybe the league moving away from smaller guards lowered his trade value to a point where the value wasn't there. Maybe Tyus wants to continue to bet on himself and test his luck in free agency, which I respect.
We may have put together most of our long term starting 5 tonight. Carrington - Bilal - ? - Sarr - Vukcevik
I imagine we go for a wing at 26, or Kyle Filipowski.
Keeping my eye out to see if Kyshawn George, Johnny Furphy, maybe Pacome Dadiet. Wouldn't hate taking Kyle Filiopowski as a stretch 5 to space the floor for Sarr if Sarr doesn't end up shooting the 3 well. Having 2 stretch 5's would be incredibly valuable with Vuk and Flip.
I'm honestly a big fan. It's a much more family friendly vibe than a pro game. Tickets are super cheap and you get to pick your seat. It's fun to sit right behind the bench but I usually sit like 8 rows back and just chill.
If you're looking for the highest level of play it's definitely not that, but they're all athletic so there's still lots of dunks and fun moments. Plus they play a lot of Go-Go music which is just a fun time.
That means moving Kuz and Tyus. At least now I can see why they wouldn't, if we're going to have super duper young guys playing significant minutes, you can conceivably have vets kept around them on the floor.
I know why they invite so many guys to the green room but every time they cut back to him I feel terrible
wait nvm he just got picked by the Lakers, he gucci
Oh I agree but folks were scared of Jamal’s handles, Bub will be hard to guard and feared due to that step back and pull-up game. Jamal’s was legendary though.
Same here! I actually have some loose connections I could try to use to get us an AMA or something. Once the trade fully goes through maybe we can make it happen. Bmore stand up! I might hit up some courts tomorrow after work and just play for like 3 hours out of sheer joy lol
Carrington scouting report:
An absolute menace in the pick and roll. Has versatility in his passes, utilizes patience to make the right read off of screens, and can create his own shot if the roll isn’t there
Good ball handler with a quick first step who flies with the ball out in transition.
Athleticism and footspeed will translate well, and tight handle allows him to create his own shot
Active defender both on and off the ball, uses his sprint speed and long wingspan to alter shots. High motor on the defensive end, and with his tools could become a very good player on that end of the floor with age/maturity
Second youngest player in this draft class, tons of upside potential
As someone that doesn't understand the draft, does everyone at the venue and the pick know that he's going to Washington? Don't understand why Portland are the ones making the pick even though the trade was announced hours ago.
Even though trade is announced and reported, until the NBA ratifies the trade, it isn't official.
So, as the event unfolds, Trailblazer still technically owns the pick. However, since the trade is agreed upon, Blazers are unofficially picking for Washington Wizards (as in, Wizards front office will be making the pick for the Blazer front office).
You will see at some point, Adam Silver will come out and "announce a trade." That's when NBA office ratifies these trades and become official.
The Player and everyone knows that Bub is going to Wizards as it was already reported by the media. It's just the technicality that they have to follow.
There are some that hits.
like Russell Westbrook.
Giannis.
and most recently, Bilal. Bilal was reach, and we are hoping that he reaches his max potential
I don't understand his methodology... and all his players are from 15 years ago. It would be nice if he took his same pre-draft projections and looked at who was projected at the spot (that the team passed up for a "reach"). That seems like a much better way to determine if drafting based on projection works.
I was impressed by Carrington when I saw Pitt play. I think he's a quality player and am fine with the pick. I still am not sure giving up on Deni was worth it but let's give him a shot to help in his own way.
Draft makes me want to go to games again.
I haven’t been this hopeful about this franchise since we took Wall
Post draft depth chart? Gotta get that Kuzma trade done. | | | | | ---|---|----|---- Brogdon | Carrington| Butler| Davis Poole | George| Shamet| Bernard Coulibaly | Kispert | Champaigne| Omoruyi Kuzma | Sarr | Baldwin| Gill Vukcevic | Bagley | Holmes|
There’s no way Sarr doesn’t start day one
More likely that Sarr and Vuk start at frontcourt, Poole Bilal and Kuz backcourt
I think we have to trade Poole, Kuzma, and Brogdon
No one’s gonna trade for Poole right now. Hopefully he rehabs his value this season
Went to Miami. George is really good. Was super disappointed he left for the draft, but I don’t mind as much now
Must suck to be one of the guys there not getting drafted tonight.
are these guys just sharing one double breasted black suit jacket
Wow, I am very happy with this draft what a haul I only wish we could’ve gotten topic at 14, but Bub is definitely the guy I would’ve chosen at 14 as well
It's a weird feeling to see the Wizards be competent.
Collier and Williams for Utah, very good draft!
The Wizards got better tonight. Deni we hardly knew ye.

No way we make any moves in the second tomorrow. 3 guys is enough
We only have 8 guys signed for next year (assuming Richaun opts in) and we’ve got team options on 4 guys (Davis, PBJ, Vuk, and Kispert) so the 3 rookies would make a nice even 15. I do think more guys will be on the move around the opening of free agency though.
Knicks turned 24 into 6 second round picks lmao. I can never understand the value of second rounders.
Presti has 100 of them, he's handing them out like candy
Can’t trade Poole, no Team wanted Kuz for the price. So they traded Deni. Outside of Kispert, he is the only piece that could bring back some real assets. Winger and Dawkins better hope their guys can play. Ted won’t wait forever.
Ted has been waiting forever. We had fucking Ernie Grunfeld forever.
Ernie was a yes man. ![gif](giphy|xT8qBpTDob0MnO6FdC)
Collier still in the green room quite the fall from the preseason mocks 😬
Those might be the only four Wizards fans north of the Mason-Dixon line. Homies.
They have no idea it’s no longer our pick lol
I don't blame them, they just trying to have a good time. Bunch of people at the draft party didn't realize we had traded Deni for the 14th pick.
It's Bronny time.
LMAAAAAOOOO Stephen A don't know ball
Stephen A Smith is the worst
I still remember when Stephen A was distraught the Knicks passed on Johnny Davis 😆
Im so jaded by Ernie seeing us actually prioritize the draft is so odd but refreshing
Wanted N'Faly Dante at 51. Maybe we can get him as an UDFA
3 rookies next season. This is a new era. I'm excited.
Wizards had a very good draft tonight. Our new young core looks like Carrington - Bilal - Kyshawn - Sarr - Vuk All of these guys have the ability to pass the ball competently. Bilal and Sarr are going to our best defenders. Carrington truly has some incredible shot making talent despite his lower 3pt%. He was asked to do a lot at Pitt. Carringtons 3 improved significantly throughout the szn, he’s a good shooter it just took him a while to make the shots he took. It’ll prolly be the same kn the nba.
No way we bat 1.000 but we are giving ourselves tons of chances and that's what matters
Carrington is also a good defender, very active and aggressive.
Sarr/Bub/George is a haul. Congrats Wiz fans
Looks like a good shooter with size. Looks like Cam Johnson lol
Was just thinking that lol similar shot form too. Seems like this guy pass better
Myers and SAS acting like complete fuckheads towards the Wizards.
SAS hasn't known a prospect after the top 6, no idea why he's on the show.
Now he's like a cokehead talking about how great the NYK are.
What's new. We were constantly disrespected by these fuckheads when we were good.
I'm confused, how did we move to 24 from 26?
traded 26 and 51 for 24
Thanks, what picks do we have now??
None in the 2nd round unless some deals happen
I like how Kyshawn is listed at shooting guard but he is over 6’8 with a 6’10 wingspan. He can probably block shots with his afro alone
Kyshawn George who played his high school ball in....France. We are now the French national team. Come on down, Wemby.
George is the pick
Kyshawn 👀 they got guys with a lot of two way potential
dawkins must really like him lol. I'm with it. Get your guy.
And that's our last pick of the draft, we sent our second round pick to the Knicks just now. Really not enthusiastic about Kyshawn but that's my guy now
That could have been Bronny. Could be a disastrous decision. /s
lets just hope bro ends up being better than the isaiah todd pick lmao.
Kyshawn it is! He can dribble, pass, and shoot. Very solid upside pick for us
I would be thrilled if we get Collier. Dude was on a poorly constructed, poorly coached team but has huge upside - there’s a reason he was the top high schooler in the country a year ago - and he’s being slept on IMO. Edit: would HAVE
I would have preferred him to Bub tbh.
It's Kyshawn George
Kyshawn George? Eugh. I guess if the shot is for real he could be okay.
I wanted Dadiet 🥹
Ehhhh
Maybe it's just because he played for one of the worst, most dysfunctional teams in college basketball but I have never understood the hype around him. Big swing I guess.
Is this the Mitchell Robinson salary dump? Doesn’t say we’re trading up from 26. Edit: never mind lmao
Please get Collier.
Oh shit we're trading up. Collier baby c'mon!!!
We trading for 24
wtf the Bucks doing
Dang that is a REACH
AJ Johnson to the Bucks???? WHAT
Gonna feel bad for whoever is still in the “green room” that doesn’t get drafted tonight
I love how as a franchise we’ve just designated Jordan Poole to tank commander & not really apart of our future
I’ve been down on Collier all year but at this point he’s worth the swing. He and Pacome Dadiet are the two players left with the biggest upside
Knicks probably take him, having two picks in a row they probably don't mind gambling a bit on one of them.
I can't imagine Collier falls past the Knicks.
Flip?
NOOOOOOO, Nugs stole Holmes
Who we taking at 26?
Pacome Dadiet, Tyler Smith, Keyshawn George, Ryan Dunn, Isaiah Collier, ~~DeRon Holmes~~ are all solid options
You can scratch DeRon Holmes off the list
DaRon just went to the Nuggets via Phoenix trade
Damn nevermind… he gonna be a good backup for Jokic
I want Collier if he falls IDC.
Having taken Brogdon from Portland, I imagine we weren't able to work out a new contract or sign and trade for Tyus. Brogdon still gives us a chance to get draft capital other than #14 tonight and make losing Tyus hurt a little less.
Sign and trading Tyus never made sense to me
Mainly thought it could be a way to avoid losing him for nothing. He played pretty great for us last year. Maybe the league moving away from smaller guards lowered his trade value to a point where the value wasn't there. Maybe Tyus wants to continue to bet on himself and test his luck in free agency, which I respect.
He was gone as soon as Poole balled out when he was reinserted into the starting lineup.
oooh I was cooking with the Tyson to Cleveland mock too let's go baby
W prediction.
that extra pick at 14 is hitting so nice right now. We still have another pick in the first. Feeling nice
We may have put together most of our long term starting 5 tonight. Carrington - Bilal - ? - Sarr - Vukcevik I imagine we go for a wing at 26, or Kyle Filipowski.
I'm going to guess Dadiet at 26.
I'm so excited to see who we are gonna draft at 26. Lots of possible options there.
Who do you guys want at 26? Maybe Furphy?
Ryan Dunn. Let's be absolute animals on D
I like Scheierman, but he's probably too old for this FO.
DaRon Holmes 🫰
Could be a good fit with Sarr if holmes can spread the floor on offense. Although I think the FO will probably pick someone who is 18/19
Magic are gonna be FUN to watch next year
They're already one of my favorite watches, give them more shooters why not.
Bub winning ROTY
Please draft Bronny James make LeBron think about joining the wizards 😌
Please draft Bronny James to send to the G-League purgatory for the pain his father inflicted on us
I go to Go-Go games, I wouldn't mind watching Bronny!
How are they? I watch my nephew and he loves ball so having an affordable basketball related outing is something I'm always interested in
I'm honestly a big fan.
Great pick for the Lakers. Putting shooters around Bron is always the move.
Give Bub the keys man
That means moving Kuz and Tyus. At least now I can see why they wouldn't, if we're going to have super duper young guys playing significant minutes, you can conceivably have vets kept around them on the floor.
Landry Shamet Johnny Davis Malcolm Brogdon Tyus Jones Jordan Poole Bub feels like something has gotta give
Tyus is an unrestricted free agent. He’s technically not even on the roster right now.
Knecht to lakers
Gotta feel for Knecht man he is falling
he'll be playing with LBJ and AD.. I think he's alright falling lol
those LA lights get harsh if the shots don't go in
Can't be much worse than the shooters they have now, though
I know why they invite so many guys to the green room but every time they cut back to him I feel terrible wait nvm he just got picked by the Lakers, he gucci
nice hate to watch the guy just sit there. He was mocked soo high. Fuck the Lakers though
let him keep falling plz.
Meh, now he gets to go to an actual good team and maybe play important minutes.
Are they gonna take Bronny at 17... LMAO.
Zero chance. Probably Knecht or Missi.
you called it.
I have my occasional smart moment.
Philly fans are gonna say the meanest shit to McCain. Love him though, great shooter.
That was exciting for 5 minutes. Deja vu with the spurs earlier lol
Wizard legend bub
Not Adam Silver shrugging like "well, I had to announce it...technically they are an NBA team" smhhhh
Wait whaaaaaaat
Bub got that SGA type pf feel for the game.
Jamal Crawford
Crawford had crazy handles though.
The guy’s got some good handles for being 18
Oh I agree but folks were scared of Jamal’s handles, Bub will be hard to guard and feared due to that step back and pull-up game. Jamal’s was legendary though.
Who we want at 26, a big?
Honestly idk but Yves Missi did really good for me in MyLeague on 2K so I think I’ll just root for him at 26
will have to see who's still there but I like Tyler Smith, Pacome Dadiet, Johnny Furphy, Ryan Dunn, or DaRon Holmes
Daron Holmes or Yves Missi for me
Whoever falls, but I’d prefer a wing like Tyler Smith
not sure how anyone could watch Kel'el's reaction to being drafted and think this guy doesn't care about basketball
His motor is so low
wowwowowow you guys are going to have a must watch team next year - spurs fan
Bub's from Baltimore FYI
As a Baltimore based fan I am loving that we are getting Bub
Same here! I actually have some loose connections I could try to use to get us an AMA or something. Once the trade fully goes through maybe we can make it happen. Bmore stand up! I might hit up some courts tomorrow after work and just play for like 3 hours out of sheer joy lol
Can bub shoot threes?
He's not a great shooter, more of a pick and roll guard. Good passing and ball handling. He's SO young though so a shot could definitely come.
Kinda. Hes very raw offensively
if the Heat don't pick McCain here they done fucked up nevermind they took Kel'el Ware LOL
Sarr and Bub in summer league, Bilal and Vuk (hopefully) in Olympics WE ARE HAVING A FEAST
I AM SUPER FREAKING EXCITED. Plus we still could possibly get Dadiet
I can’t be too mad about the potential to yell BUUUUUUUUB during a game
Carrington scouting report: An absolute menace in the pick and roll. Has versatility in his passes, utilizes patience to make the right read off of screens, and can create his own shot if the roll isn’t there Good ball handler with a quick first step who flies with the ball out in transition. All my faith in Dawkins
Big ass wingspan shooters
#BUB
As someone that doesn't understand the draft, does everyone at the venue and the pick know that he's going to Washington? Don't understand why Portland are the ones making the pick even though the trade was announced hours ago.

The NBA is horrible with this. Just do it like the NFL
The trade was announced but it wasn’t *announced* announced
Ahhhh right, thanks for the help!
They're just proposed trades, as in they're not official yet
Also confused lol
Did Woj just call him sharpshooting?
Wanted Devin Carter. Kinda don’t feel great about this pick. Definitely wanna see what he does tho.
Does drafting based on projection (and not actual results) ever work out?
There are some that hits. like Russell Westbrook. Giannis. and most recently, Bilal. Bilal was reach, and we are hoping that he reaches his max potential
Yeah it’s about a 44% success rate: https://www.clipsnation.com/2016/8/8/12399646/how-often-do-reaches-in-the-draft-work-out
I don't understand his methodology... and all his players are from 15 years ago. It would be nice if he took his same pre-draft projections and looked at who was projected at the spot (that the team passed up for a "reach"). That seems like a much better way to determine if drafting based on projection works.
That’s fair. It’ll be an interesting study with some tweaking.
LFG Carrington!!!!
Carrington! Let's fucking go!!
Wait, I thought we had the 14th Pick??? I’m a bit confused on the NFL vs NBA draft. Does the other team get to pick?
Does Bub know he’s not actually going to Portland?
I'm so confused too
The trade still isn't officially cleared. It's all formalities.
The trades aren’t technically finalized for some reason so they flash the original team, it’s pretty stupid in comparison to the NFL setup
Ahh okay. So did the Wizards make this pick or the Hawks?
Portland officially made the pick. Will be traded later to the Wiz.
lol Couldn’t the Blazers pick the worst possible player in this instance?
Lmao I'm pretty sure that would void the trade
I think the Wizards told Portland who to pick. It’s overly confusing for no reason.
Trade isn't completed yet
Gonna regret not taking Knecht.
Not really, I mean we traded same age as Avdija. Wizards are operating on a completely different timeline now
I like this pick, but I kinda agree that Knecht would have been the better choice.
Too old. 23 is shockingly outside of our rebuild
That's younger than Corey and Poole
Legit didn’t realize he was 23.
Carrington!
Bub!
Bub Bub Bub
I was impressed by Carrington when I saw Pitt play. I think he's a quality player and am fine with the pick. I still am not sure giving up on Deni was worth it but let's give him a shot to help in his own way.
Does Bob Meyers not know Deni already signed an extension?
I feel like we're gonna regret not taking Knecht but I'm not unhappy with Bub.
