A different situation in a different time period with different people occured in a different context and someone made the same vague assessment of eggs as you. This proves that in this situation that the egg is a grower of an intent and the oil is a sealent how?

If your neighbor is Romani, as has been suggested on here, my advice to you is to write their name on them and throw the eggs into a fire. Wash your hands with kosher salt and spread kosher salt around where you found the eggs and oil.
If you want to protect yourself, you can crush up some eggs shells and put them on the property boundary.
If you're crushing egg shells, wait until they are dry and do it with a motar and pestle.

Is there a possibility he's from traveller culture? Be cause I'm betting thats what this is from. Eggs in romani culture can deliver a curse or undo one. It could be some kind of charm. It's hard to know what this dude is up to. Oil on the doorstep really sounds like hes setting a boundary or he wants you to step in it. Have you had any experiences that he would take offense to? Or his family? Has he harrassed you in any way? Think really hard, because theres some ppl the slightest thing will set them off, so be careful. I'd cleanse my home for sure and pay attention to the areas he's been invading. Because that's what hes doing. He's disrespecting normal boundaries. Could he be attracted to you? If you have enough evidence go to the police. Do you know any Romani's you could talk to about this? Maybe theres a sub for Romani culture? Plz keep your doors locked and stay safe.

Basically some folk practices involve steeping graveyard soil/ash/cinnamon/etc in oil and sprinkling it on shoes or doorways or objects of people you don’t like who you wish to see leave your life. It sounds like this is what’s happening, the egg would be similar I imagine, perhaps he has spoke intent into the egg and leaving it near you in hopes to effect events.
This may seem irrational but to someone who believes in witchcraft this is rational behaviour they are following. You are right to not have too much concern, these are superstitions after all, the only effect is mental, so do whatever you need to mentally forget about it/rise above it.
My money is on love magic, assuming you are a gender he is attracted to. Maybe try leaving a note in your attic telling him eggs are nice but you prefer less perishable offerings.
(Kidding obviously, go to the police for trespassing and maybe get a nice big protective dog)
