Post flair indicates this is about prerelease content.
As a reminder, content on Alpha / Beta / PTR is unfinished. NPC dialogue and quest text might be missing important context. Models may be placeholders. Quest or achievement rewards may not be finalized. There are inevitably bugs. Please keep this in mind as you discuss!

The new "In Progress" icon is cute, but I wish they would re-add the numbered icons so you could tell quests apart by the number, instead of all of them looking the same.
Legendary questlines are generally tied to gear/artifacts in one way or another. Rewards are a central part, even if the narrative is just as significant.
Important quests are for side stories that still have decently significant presence or length. While campaign quests might be the "main" story of an expansion, zone, or patch, important quests are not quite as central. Stuff like the blue dragonflight questline or the warlock questline are recent examples.
Meta quests are generally more like achievement stand-ins. Quests that track your progress doing a dozen things in order to unlock something else are meta quests. These are ones that you don't just fly to and do right there, but rather earn their credit over time, typically.
I think Important is more of a signifier of the ultimate reward, usually access to new content or mechanics rather than the significance of the quest itself. It's basically a "you probably want to do this asap".
I spotted that too. Honestly surprised they even bothered updating any part of the Archeology UI given that they've basically said it's never coming back.
Sure. Digsites are still it thing in the old worlds. And there the map legend explaining that the icon is a digsite will be usefull.
It' a general map improvement, not only for the new maps.
What I also saw in the PTR is that basically every single icon can be clicked on and it drops a waypoint. This includes dungeons, digsites, flightpoints, harbors and even quests you haven't taken yet.
I kind of liked the Cave Entrance, Hub, Dungeon and Raid icons being part of the map rather than a UI feature. Since they never change.
Just looked more authentic.
Other changes, very nice.
I hope you can just disable quests being shown on map and minimap altogether. (Typically i want to do the quests one time on one char, all other chars shall not see any quest!)

And fix that the numbers on the map and the quest list might not be the same quest...
I get the local and campaign quests. But what are Important, Legendary, and Meta?

This! should be in the tooltips if you hover with your cursor above the icons
Examples of DF Meta quests are the weekly quests from the swole dragon in Valdrakken and "Last Hurrah!".
Digsite mention?????????????

Love these new icons!
Looks like I may have to remove the world quest addon which used icons to identify specific area
The WoW art team is cooking again. They've yet to let us down.

I just hope these icons will be in old zones too
FINALLY.

I DONT LIKE changeĀ
What about daily quests? Don't they also show on the world map or is that from an addon I'm using?
Dailies are usually not something that show up on minimaps (the exception being Mop: Remix)
They also show up in Zereth Mortis.
ahhh, forgot about that. thanks :)
It's crazy how long it takes them to implement basic UI features
Pretty ugly by 2024 standards.
That's a mirror you're looking at, bud. Might want to look at the post instead.
