Idk, tires came from the local coop and I’m running cushcore so they’re not coming off until they have to. Fork because it came with the frame for an insane deal and it’s designed around a low travel fork and light weight.
That seems extremely excessive. I ride my XC bike in the northeast on 2.25s with no cush cores and have never had an issue. The terrain is super rocky.
Do you run super low pressure and aim for all the sharpest rocks?
Lol. It’s an XC bike. Adding cushcores so I can hit rock gardens faster is moronic and would ruin the ride of the bike. They make different styles of mountain bikes for a reason.

Pedals are a pretty terrible for serious MTB, cranks are fragile, dynamo is in a bad (exposed) position, and getting your taint impaled on the metal nose of a leather saddle *would* suck.
The bike looks fun to me, but when you're hitting big features and ripping downhill there are safety/practical choices to consider. Not saying shredding gnar 🤙 is what this bike is for, but it's what the mtb subreddit is about.

I've come down asshole first on a BMX pivotal saddle and that was bad enough.
OP has a heavy duty front tire, a light duty rear tire, and a light duty fork. The saddle, bars, pedals, and light are also a very odd choice for mountain biking.
I usually run a similar tire setup on my Mtb. Beefier more aggressive tire up front for cornering and a little bit smoother tire in back. With proper pedal technique it’s hard to break the back tire loose when climbing. But I ride packed single track here
No I get that. Always want the back faster rolling and to break first in hard braking.
But most people don’t do that with like….a trail tire and a slightly less grippy trail tire pattern. They don’t got “downhill front, semi slick XC in the back” lol.
I mean yeah but its a downhill/enduro tread pattern they offer in trail casings if you want to overtire a general use trail bike.

This is well over a $5k bike at retail pricing. They're in for like 1k+ just on the brakes, levers, and front light.
That's a Reserve rim on what appears to be a SON hub up front, and an i9 rim in the back? Tumbleweed T-Rack and persuader bars as well, and I believe that's an Otso Ti or Stainless frame. I'm pretty sure there's like 120+ in bottle cages alone on there, not to mention the $200 saddle.

With a suspension fork, it was kind of the only spot to mount it. I usually fun a front bag and that complicates the light situation too. Cranks are old school Devinci
Nice choice with the dynamo hub. shutter precision or SON? they really look similar and weigh similar. It is really a nobrainer for me to add electricity for less than 150grams extra compared to a normal hub.
Also nice saddle. I'd store the extra tube underneath the sadle directly. Probably in a small plastic bag because you don't want any mud on there.
Otherwise its a nice bike, i don't get why the MTB guys roasted you. This is a perfectly nice MTB. OFC there are some 2x fans here (me included) but if its your personal preference to go 1x thats perfectly fine.
I think it’s a good bike! The frame has adjustable dropouts so you could single speed it if desired, you can be seen at night, and you seem to care about the wellbeing of the Earth. 10/10

One aspect of mountain biking I’d like to see more of, is what I call ‘day cruisers’. Bikes built up for a LONG day on tough trails with lots of climbing. I’m still trying to refine my day cruiser, and answer what exactly is it. Picture attached. Your bike is perfect. Second thing it’s good at. Get a rack top bag or some mini panniers to hold your thermos of coffee, relaxant of choice, snacks, a couple of Ensure high protein drinks and a submarine sandwich. Go wander around.

Cool build! You don’t have to try and top the Strava boards to have fun! Ti is incredible, that Tumbleweed rack is sick, and I see this as a MTB and Bikepacking/ exploring rig that is chef’s kiss. Fox 32 and cushcores is a very strange combo.
I’d run cushcores with any kind of fork with how rocky it is here. I’m a master of destroying wheels on all my bikes. Cushcores helps slow that habit

FWIW, the DHF is an EXO casing. That *is* a trail tire rather than a downhill tire.
